What was I saying yesterday about a chaotic week? Was it appropriate that my Friday was no less chaotic? Nope, it was a perfectly natural ending.
Right as I posted yesterday, I heard Scott go in the shower which was not a bit deal at all, but should have warned me how that day was heading.
I was outside with J and W a bit later and a neighbor was walking her dog past my house. She is terrified of J (can't say I blame her) and won't walk past but that makes J even more wound up. I grab the lead that J is on and bring her to toward my house. Somehow, the lead and the leash got tangled and both dogs are barking like mad and have then tangled themselves around *me!* That wouldn't be too bad except my patio is a sheet of ice so when I stepped back, I slipped and went down hard.
Thank all of the gods/esses, Flying Spaghetti Monster, etc that Scott was coming out to grab J because he saw me fall. And was laughing a bit as W thought that it was great fun that I was on the ground and was jumping on my face for kisses. Then he realized that I literally couldn't get up and that the dogs were dragging me a bit on the ice. he was able to untangle me and get the dogs back inside. I told him that it was too bad that Cait wasn't home to witness it so they could tease me about it for the rest of my life. :caked:
However- it hurt and I immediately felt it all over. Good thing I am very used to pain and stiffness in my body. heh! I had a nice time out with my mom but was exhausted by the time we got back home. I put comfy clothes on, took out my contacts and spent a little while crocheting. Cait called from where she was babysitting a little while after that and said that her car won't move and she thinks it must be the transmission. Why, I don't know other than the kids she was babysitting thought so too and I was surprised that Gary agreed. (me-- I thought it was that the drive was an unplowed sheet of ice and snow-- this is where I was yesterday cleaning and I figured that she was spinning her tires)
Gary and I go over there to see what we can do and yup, it was the ice. We tried putting boards under the tires and then scraping out some of the ice but it was not going anywhere. Gary started getting chest pains and nausea so Scott picked him up so he could go home and take some aspirin just in case (he is fine BTW whew!).She called AAA to see if she could get towed out of the driveway and they gave her a 2-hour window. I stayed with her for an hour but I was in a lot of pain. The other babysitter was there (my friend tag teams several during the week) and I asked her if there were any problems with AAA if she could help Caitlyn out so I could go home. She said that she had dealt with them many times and would help her if she needed.
The AAA guy said there was no way that he could get up the driveway but was able to back Cait's car straight down. At least the tow truck was able to give the cars on the road some warning to be careful. The house in on a steep hill on a blind curve which is why it is bad to back down on the ice.
She was very happy to get home and put her PJs on and snuggle with her rats. Poor thing! What a day!
I did tell her that on the bright side that at least we weren't stuck in the car in a state park by ourselves and the dogs in an area where there is no cell service for 4 hours. BTDT last year! hahah!!!!
Today I think we all deserve a day to do nothing. Do you all agree?
hope that your day is one that is free of chaos!
