I wish you all could be here to see my tree! We picked out a good one :)
Scott had already seen a few that he liked before we got to the Garden Center but of course, we had to wander around and look at a lot more. After a while, they all looked the same. hah!! But it was fun to do our thing and it was even funnier to see Scott do the *pick up the tree out of the stand and spin it a bit and say "Now, that's a tree!"* which is a line from our favorite Christmas Movie- A Christmas Story. He was grumbling a bit when he told us how some people walk in, look at one tree and say yup, that's good. He wondered what the fun was in that. I agree.

We all took a lot of pictures but I would say 99% of them were of the dogs. Dogs in Santa hats, dogs wearing antlers. Dogs refusing to pose near the tree. The usual.

Today, I have to finish a little bit of decorating, clean some stuff up, then the FP. After that, I think I might try to get one or two batches of bar cookies made. Will there be any time left for scrapping? :noidea:
we are also supposed to be getting snow today- 4" of that yucky stuff. I had to finish raking leaves yesterday morning because the dog poop will be buried under the leaves and then the snow and that would be a disaster to walk on the lawn.

I should post this and then get more coffee. Anyone care for a cup? :cof1:

Nancy-It must have been so nice and peaceful to have the house to yourself for a while. Does Luther bark a lot or whine/grumble? Funny how you can tell that it is him talking. What did the Devils do for Star Wars night?

W is the only dog that we have had that actually "fetches." I have had 2 cats that fetched but only one dog. So silly.

Trudy- oh what a good sleep that must have been to stay in bed until 7.30. I woke up a little bit before 5 this morning, but must have fallen back to sleep cuz I didn't roll out of bed until after 6. But like you, I started to think about all of the stuff I need to do. :faint2:
I know that you will not be around much after the fam gets in, but I hope that you are able to share some pics and stories of the babies-- all 3 of them cuz Heather is your baby too.
yes, if you could ask Jason what they did to make Storm stop eating poop, that would be great. I am open to all suggestions since the snap of the leash and a loud No isn't doing the trick. Redirecting her is next to impossible.
Back in the day when we used to go to Disney, the kids would get Disney Dollars in their stocking every year. I miss that. Your grands will love them.

Rae- OMG!!!! I am trying to picture your body positioned like that after you fell and all I can say is OUCH!!!! But at the same time, I can't help but laugh at you holding yourself up by your thumb and the dogs frolicking around and over you :pound:

Jean- Did you find the Owls? I hope so, they must be beautiful to see. It was cold and windy here too.
Scott is impossible to shop for because he says that he "needs nothing." (I think he gets it from me since all I am asking for is dog food/toys and a Shop Rite Gift Card).
The one thing he is asking for is over the ear headphones but they are waaaaay out of my price range, so we will pass that idea over to my ILs.
Cait is easy, she gives out detailed lists with links, not to mention if it is cruelty-free makeup or animal related, it is a winner.

Felis- hope that your day is going well!

Hugs to all of you who are reading this (that means YOU! LOL)

Pfuuu, Yesterday was another terrible day for me! I start to think that in my previous life I've been very evil person and now only bad things happened in my life. Only blue or black days. Anyway I don't wanna spoil your day with 'sad songs'.
Today we made big cleaning at the cat house so I moved the cats from one room to another, till my mom vacuum clean, it's takes time and also often create comic situations :) . Instead that no other plans, because outside is still too muddy. So we will have quiet movie night inside.

Chris, so good about your shopping at Home Goods! Oh, such a lovely story, you're right like from movie! So great that found your perfect Christmas tree! Sounds like you are too busy for the weekend, but I hope you'll can have some free time too! Did you got snow? Can you, please, send it to east, I really want it, so tired from this mud!

Jean , I hope to had chance to see these Snowy Owls! This reminds me for one great movie I watched "The Big Year" with Owen Wilson and Steve Martin. I didn't realize how big passion can become the ornithology. And I'm wondering why we don't do something similar to this bird-spotting competition here?! We have many kind of birds for our small territory, but not many bird enthusiast, except hunters and environmentalists. However! My idea was that Owen Wilson character was trying to see Snowy Owls throughout the whole movie. Have you watched it?

Rae, I'm sure you are had much fun on the xmas light display, but I'm curious did you made photos as was plan?! WOW, so bad about your almost falling, hope your legs does not hurt you much now!

Trudy, I miss a little bit the time when we was child and decoration was so special time! This year I feel myself a little bit like obligation to do it, not like ritual as should be. I hope your decision to not rush with decoration to make you feel really festive! And we definitely want to see this Christmas painting when is ready! I love your projects, you are so talented! Great about the Disney Gift Cards, so now they will have one more reason to be excited for their Disney visit!

Nancy, I always get to my big dog treats, it's so predictable, but he really don't play with anything, I'm try balls, squeaky toys (they upset him) and these dog ropes, nope, nothing. Only game we play is to run away and I jump on his way and show to where the change his direction :) . Oh, my previous dog did the same thing like Luther without bringing back the balls, this definitely is smart reaction! This Star Wars night at the Rock is when fans are dressed up like characters from the movies, correct?! But I'm curious what the team do?! Is it was fun?

Hope you all have wonderful weekend! Hugs to all!

good morning I am very late and for good reasons - we got up late and then the snow starting falling and OMgosh I love snow on the weekends. My DH and I headed to the park with Luther. It was so fun. Luther I think has forgotten what snow is and so it was all new again. We met another dog and they ran a lot. Too fun to watch. Then Luther found sticks and maybe he thought they were popsicles. And he is napping now . My son picked up Luther from doggie day care and they said he is such a calm dog but he does have a breaking point. They said when he lays down and another dog still wants to play he gives them a couple us chances to go away and finally he gives them the big growl. I love my Luther. I got lots of chores done. Two loads of laundry and vacuuming and looking for old photos. Then the big news was a train derailment on the train line that my DH uses to get to NYC and home. The line is shut down for the foreseeable future. They have busses but it took him over 90 min to get home from Newark. He had to sit in front of the bus and tell the driver where to go using the map function on his phone. One of our friends from hockey takes this train so I texted her and she came with us. Always fun to help. The Devils played an awesome first period and were leading 2-0 but then in the second and third periods they forgot how to play and lost 5-3. But all the Star Wars stuff was so fun. They had characters walking around and they had the team on the score board looking like the rebellion. So that part was awesome. We got our Star War t-shirts and they are cool. Found out my oldest son had been sick with strep throat and tonsillitis. Poor boy but he sounds really good now. Glad he finally went to the doctor. Tonight my Devils play their cross river rival the Ranger who also lost last night to the Capitals. I hope my teams learns to play 60 min.

Chris your tree evening sounds so fun! We always took our time finding a tree but I have to say I never know which to buy. But I sure love the smell. That is funny I thought most dogs fetch so good to hear that Luther is not too much of an outlier. WE are getting really steady snow here and I hear that you should be getting less. But I really do like it as I have no where to go.

Trudy you are so prepared with all your precooked food. The Disney cards are awesome. I know my family loves them. You are going to have such fun!

Rae so how was the lighting display and festival. I hope you had great weather.

Jean wow snowy owls! I hope you saw them. They are supposed to be a few down at my favorite bird spot across from Atlantic City but I just have not gotten down there. We saw them in Canada on a trip to see the Polar bears many years ago and they are just so amazing. And one year one showed up at Merck in Rahway and just sat on a roof. Again so shocking but so cool.

Felis one of my favorite movies is the Big Year. I have two friends that while they don't do the big year have their life lists and go on birding tours to get more for their lists. I go with them once a year and it is so fun. I love birding. Anyone can do it you should get a book of birds in your country and just start looking. Good luck with the cat cleaning. I hope you feel better soon!

Have a great day all.

Good morning, ladies. Had fun last night at the light display. It was not quite as exciting as I had imagined but nonetheless it was still fun. A lot of the decorations were repetitive but it was still all impressive. We took some photos but don't think any are spectacular but am happy to preserve some memories of our outing. We all agreed that our fave thing was a big area of hanging lighted tubes that everyone could walk thru. We all took pics in there. D was happy to get some hot mini donuts and Jen got to sample a glutenfree dessert. Nothing for me. I saw a t-shirt that I would have loved but wasn't going to spent so much money on, in big letters on the front it said "all I need is my coffee and my dog". Good thing it was indoors (except for the food trucks) b/c it was really foggy out. Another cool thing for kids was the snow machine that blew snowflakes down onto anyone standing in that area. Kids were giggling and laughing like crazy, so cute to watch. So we got home around 9:00, we had a quick bite to eat and settled in for a few hours of TV before bed. I slept really well. I'm a bit stiff this morning (from my fall) but not too bad at all.

Today I'm working on desk work for about an hour, have tax stuff to work on, am going to pop over to a local Xmas market and need to finish decorating the fireplace and cleaning the house. I want to figure out what desserts to make as Jen is coming over next Sunday so we can do some baking for D, some glutenfree for her and low carb/sugarfree for me. Taz and I will go over to the pet store later for food and I'll check Xmas gifts out for him. I always get him a new stuffie toy, to put under the tree. At some point over the wkend I would like to wrap a few gifts so I don't leave everything until the last minute. So I think the wkend is going to fly by.

Chris - glad you found a great tree and if you are like me, once it is decorated, it will lift your spirits and make you happy. I want to diffuse some Xmas oils in the LR too to add to the Xmas ambience. I need to check pinterest for some xmas type mixes to try out.

Felis - we don't have any snow either but at least the rain has stopped for a few days but the forecast is for days of rain coming soon again. Fingers crossed that the forecast is correct b/c they are predicting a light snow on the 23rd which would be nice. Living on the west coast, the weather can change so quickly so that may or may not happen.

Everyone else...hope all is well.

I'm hopping in the shower and getting on with my day. Have a wonderful day, everyone.

Nancy - we were cross-posting this morning.

So jealous you have some snow and yes, I can imagine Luther playing in it. Taz loves the snow too. That sucks about the train closure for your DH. 90 minutes to get home....ugh. How frustrating.

Ok, off I go.....bye everyone.

:hello: O-zies!! I am just popping in to say hey and then I am outta here :bolt: We are off to Home Depot and the grocery store AGAIN!! I feel like I live at the grocery store LOL. It is still very foggy here and I really hope that this clears up before next Saturday! Hooray it is one week today and DD and family will finally be here, well as long as the plane can land in the fog that is. Keep your fingers crossed for me that this clears up! DH and I will be busy getting the suite downstairs all ready for kids. Then we need to get all the presents hidden somewhere in the crawl space and then decorating starts tomorrow. I will catch up with you all tomorrow hopefully as I need to do a few things here at the O too. I just wanted to say how much I love my O family!! I feel like my day is never complete unless I come here every day! Sorry I don't have time today

Cold and gray but no snow - and I'm glad on that part! You all can have it. Seems so strange to have it snowing in the south and not here. No, we didn't find any of the snowy owls yesterday, but they like to find spots out of the wind when it's windy like that. It was a pretty day.

Chris, the tree must make the house so nice and festive. Hope it lifts your spirits and you survive the snow.

Felis, no we've never seen the movie. Don't think we enjoyed the idea of comedians playing real birders for one thing. Another is that big years can get really out of hand losing sight of the birds and not just another tick mark. But we don't see many movies any more any way, just a couple of old stick in the muds. Sure hope life quits picking on you and the days get closer to merry and bright. Think doggie kisses and kitty purrs.

Nancy, glad you all enjoyed a romp in the snow. Sorry the Devils lost, but hope there will be photos of the Star Wars part. Funny how birders can be. There is a LO today of Montezuma Castle in Arizona. It is really beautiful (the LO, but also the place). I had to go look at my LO of the place from 10 years ago. Mine includes a list of the birds we saw there!

Rae, well, if the lights weren't as exciting as hoped, you still came away with nice descriptions and stories of it. Sure glad you're not suffering much from your fall.

Trudy, good luck with all the shopping. We can read the growing excitement in what you write. Only a week to go and we will keep our fingers crossed for good landing weather.

Good morning girls! :smow:
We wake up at white world, which makes me feel so much better! Today we will go to the grocery store, so probably I'll be too tired later, so I come here early. Also I plan to play with the big dog at the snow this afternoon! Yey! And today we watch one TV show, so not much time to be online.

Trudy, I think the same like you, I'm so grateful that Chatter O exist, your kindly words always makes me feel better in my crazy life! I need to apologize once more that I make you struggle with my bad english! And also I was followed Daily Ooo's few months before to join, so if someone still wondering just come to tell us 'Hi!' and will see how fast you will be addicted to these conversations :ranger: !
So, Trudy, I hope you had luck at yesterday shopping! I hate the crowds, so I'm grateful that we have chance to go to the hipermarcet grocery store only once at week, when my dad is free to drive us. Unfortunately the local stores don't have pet food on acceptable price or promotions for human food, so this is the necessary evil. But I can't imagine to do it more often. I'm sure the weather will become clear next week!

Jean, it's good that even without the owls you had pretty day!

Rae, your description of the light display still sounds very intriguing, even it was not exactly what you expected. I'm curious did your shopping karma help for stuffie toy too?! Did you found something interesting for Taz? Here have one adorable Christmas tree rubber dog toy, but it's too big for my tiny dog. The bosses of my mom was got it for their Jack Russell Terrier and he found it too big too. I'm a little disappointed that the pet toys are always the same every year, although this shop hold the best prices. It would be great Christmas to be white, I really hope so! I'm sure you can find this t-shirt on better price! I look for something like this.

Nancy, actually now I remembered that before years the foundation for wild birds defenders was made Android App, wich to help you to recognise easy birds who have nest in our country. It would work great with your idea for own birding list. But I'm afraid, that I'm totally not suitable for birding, my eyes are so weak, I hardly recognizes the rabbits, what about something so small and nest so high. Oh, the cleaning for the cats, actually was very fun. My mom was in good mood, and she laugh much with the cats, which made me so happy! I'm so envious that you and Luther had snow, so we take for us too  . '' Luther has forgotten what snow is and so it was all new again. '' this is absolutely adorable! Oh, so unpleasant about the busses travel of your husband! Did the people from the train derailment are fine? I hope they are! Hope also that your son cold will get better soon!

Chris, thank you that you send snow to here, and I hope you don't have it! :) I also hope that your day was successful and not too stressful! I'm afraid that today I can't send you any happy purrs, because they still murmurs because of the vacuum cleaner noises yesterday.

I hope you all to have one wonderful day with/without snow! :cool2:

Happy Sunday!
How was your Saturday? We got snow-- not a lot, maybe 3-4". And I shocked myself. I didn't walk from window to window yelling and grousing about how much I hate snow. I won't go as far as saying that it looked pretty (ick!), but it seemed a bit festive with the Christmas tree lit and the house smelling good.

I was able to put away most of the boxes of ornaments. I also made the executive decision to not add any more decorations. The tree and some small things are plenty for this year. That also means less opportunity for W to chew on things. I know that J is still young, she will be three in January, so puppyhood isn't that far away, but I forgot how much puppies can get into.

Cait and I went to the FP and they provide things for holiday dinners so they asked if I wanted a ham or turkey. A woman walked past with a canned ham and I figured that would be perfect for when I have the family up on Christmas Day. We don't typically eat that but I know that other people will. When they came out with my bags, it was a ham. Like a really huge ham! I have no idea what the hell I am going to do with a 12 lb ham.:faint2:
It is in my freezer and I am going to have to ask my mom if she wants it. She can cook it and bring it here for Christmas? But I can't tell her that I got it at a FP so my brilliant DD suggested that I tell her that Brendan, who works at ShopRite got it and gave it to us. The irony is that I am trying to clean out my freezer of things that got shoved in the back so I can make room for Xmas cookies. And now I have a ham. SMH!

I made two batches of Magic Bars and today I am going to do my Pecan Pie Bars. If I can get 1 batch of cookies made a day I will be in good shape until Caitlyn and I do the Major Baking with the Walnut Cups and Walnut Balls.

W loves the snow and I got a couple of fun pics of her and J out there playing in it. But the downside is that now I have no idea where the dog poop is and she will dig until she gets to it. I am ordering these chews to make their poop taste bad ( I still don't get how much worse it can be????). If anyone needs anything pet related DrsFosterandSmith.com is having a Flash Sale- 25% off and free shipping.

W also got R really good on her ear. They were in my office- which is only an 8x8 area and R didn't have anywhere to go when W went to play. The next thing I heard was R yelp in pain. W bit her ear and it was bleeding. When I yelled at W you could see how concerned she was and kept coming up to R, trying to nuzzle her. My family wasn't upset with W at all, since karma and all that. When we first got R, she chewed on my other dog's ears and needed surgery on one. The other we didn't do the surgery, we let it heal on its own which made it look like cauliflower. Poor R-- I felt bad for her though.

So an interesting day all around.
My dentist appt is changed to 7.30 am so instead of going out Xmas shopping afterward so no one will be open by then, I am going to head back home and go food shopping. That will be the majority of my day today, prepping for that. Blergh.

Wow I blabbered on and on about nothing.
:sorry:

xoxoxo!

Felis- There are days that I feel exactly the same way. And my family tries really hard to always do the right thing and yet still we somehow manage to get some raw deals. But it can always be worse and we are grateful for what we have. I hope that your black days end soon.
Oh my, I can only imagine the cats' reactions to being moved around from room to room. :D
You can have all of the snow from here. I hate the stuff.
We saw The Big Year too and I had no idea that bird watching could be a "thing" like that.

Nancy- I bet Luther had a blast in the snow! W was really funny eating it off of the cars and pushing it around with her nose.
I hadn't heard about the train derailment, I am glad that your DH wasn't on it but what a mess of trying to get around on the busses.
Star Wars night sounds like it was a blast! Did you dress up?
Hope that your DS is feeling better. My brother is released to go back to work tomorrow, so that is good news for him.
The FP told us that we were eligible to get a free tree too but we already ad outs. Scott said that they wouldn't be USDA graded as high as ours was. most likely. Then he went into the different gradings of trees and the imperfections and that is why you can get cheap trees at places like Home Depot... and then he stopped. He said, Bet you never cared about how trees are graded. But it was cool, now I know. We like the way Douglas firs look but we really like the Frasier's more- they smell great and hold their needles much better. <~ OMG- I guess this is where Scott gets the excitement over trees from Bwhahahah!!!

The NWS says we got 5" but I didn't think it looked that much. How much did you get?

Rae- sorry that the lights weren't as exciting as you expected but it sounds like it was a fun night out which is always a good thing. Hot mini-donuts sounds yummy, and now my stomach is growling.
I have a T-shirt that says "All I want to do is drink coffee, rescue dogs and take naps" It's about right.
That must have been awesome seeing the kids laugh at the snowflakes.

Trudy- just wait until all of the kids are home, you will be at the grocery store a lot more. Hope that it wasn't too crazy. *fingers and toes all crossed for no fog next week!*
I love you too and all of my O-Fam!!! ::grouphug

Jean- happy for you that you didn't get snow. This weather is bonkers with snow in GA and FL??
The one thing I remember about the movie is that is wasn't really a comedy which surprised us. It was kind of dark? It wasn't as bad a a Will Ferrell movie that we watched years ago that was downright depressing. heh.
Enjoy playtime with your dog in it.
Stop right there. Do not apologize for your English. It is fine. And we are all glad that you chat with us. We love having everyone tell us a bit about their day. Fior me, this is my lifeline since I am not able to get out much. And I always hope that people who lurk a bit will jump on it so it warms my heart that you did.

better get going, I have spent so much time typing this because I took W outside twice and all she wants to do is eat snow (and poop).

Have a wonderful day!

good late morning - again we had Luther out and it was just gorgeous. The snow stuck to all the trees and bushes. It is fairly warm mid 30s when you are out walking it is even better. The sun is out and I am loving it. Sorry Chris! Luther was one happy dog. Some of the water in the pond is frozen and Luther wanted to go on it. He is such a funny dog. He loves pushing the snow with he nose. Hockey last night was again my team forgetting that they have to compete and not be cute. Lost 5-2 which is terrible because they can be better. But they have been worse since the trade but of course they will never admit to that. They play again on Tuesday against the LA Kings one of the best from the West so they had better figure this out and fast. Not much else.

Chris you got a lot done! I am so sorry you don't like snow. Yes it causes lots of driving problems and it is cold but wow everything is so pretty. To see a cardinal sitting in the snow covered bushes. That is what I love. I had no idea that Christmas trees were graded. I know I could not tell a balsam from a Fraser. The FP is awesome. I love ham but we rarely have it. Hope the dentist and food shopping go well tomorrow.

Felis I am so glad that the snow headed your way. And your English is amazing and I know I could never be that good in your language. Have fun on your walk.

Trudy I can't believe they come in one week. Hoping the for good weather.

Rae the lighting sounds great and unexpected!

Jean the movie is actually pretty good. It is not a comedy that makes fun of birders it just shows how crazy some birders can get but it is fun for us birders to see the birds and see how many we have seen.

Have a great day all!

Hi ladies, I am so bad for not getting in here on the weekends, but as usual DH and I are very busy doing little chores that need to be completed before the kids arrive. You all must be getting sick of me talking about it :tape: So I will just say :hello: again today and try at some point today to get my Christmas Avatar done for the upcoming event. Tomorrow is my Son Jason's birthday. OMG he will be 39 yrs old!!! How the heck did that happen?? For so many years we would not put our tree up or decorate until after his birthday, trying to keep his birthday special for him. Well this year is no different and we have yet to get the decorations out of the crawl space yet. :gaah: I will never be ready on time. So I will say to all of you that I hope your day is not as crazy as mine is today and then I am outta here again :bolt:

We did get a little snow last night, but it's just a dusting. As usual for Sunday we are watching football, but the surprise for the moment is that the Browns are leading at halftime. But there's plenty of time for them to still lose..

Felis, super that you got the snow you wanted and you and the big dog will get to play in it. Your shopping doesn't sound fun, but it has to be done. Hope it turned out to be a good day.

Chris, glad you didn't get too crazy about the snow. At least the dogs like it. I never knew all that about Christmas trees, but it would be fun to see the differences like Scott does. Strange that a good thing from FP turns into a problem. And Mom doesn't know? I'm drooling at the sound of those cookies but we don't do the cookies anymore.

Nancy, bummer with the Devils. Hope they get it back together soon. You and Luther must be having fun in the snow. I agree that it looks pretty, but it is cold and makes for slippery walking that I really don't like.

Trudy, I doubt you'll see yourself before sometime in the new year. Getting ready, having the kids there and then getting it all back to normal will keep you more than busy. And then there's stuff here at the O too! I'm hoping I'm out of the woods timewise in order to take part.

Rae, hope you're having a great day too.
