*looks around* Is it really possible that this is it? The end of 2017??? That sounds crazy!
What a rollercoaster of a year. SMH. Some good, some not so good, and a whole lotta chaos. Typical, I suppose. I tend to not think too much of the changes in years, it is just another flip of the calendar. But 2018 is a big one. I turn 50 (ouch!) and Gary and I will be married for 25 years (yay!).
No New Year resolutions either. They only make me feel like I let myself down when I can't keep up.

So that is my morning rambling...

I was dragging my butt all day yesterday which was frustrating. The cold weather really takes a toll on my body. My heart and blood pressure seemed to be acting weird so I googled to see if cold weather makes POTS symptoms worse. It seems like it does since your body has to work harder to maintain its temperature. Makes sense. Just add that to one more reason I need to move somewhere warm. ;)

Today I am braving the attic to bring down the ornament boxes. It is going to be "warmer" today - 20*- than tomorrow - 15*- so it is time to start putting the tree away.

Have you put your tree/decorations away yet?

Hoping that all of you have fun, stay warm!

Nancy- you are a brave woman, it was brutal here with the wind. It wasn't as bad outside this morning w/o the wind but we are getting more snow this morning. Hopefully it will be just enough to cover all of the yellow snow :pound:
Hope that the Devils won and that you will be able to survive Jan with only 4 home games hehe!
People say all of the time that Caitlyn and I look alike and I don't see it either. But that is cute that they said that. Nice to have a clean car!

Rae- how wonderful to have a nice, long weekend with no work. You are so on top of things, I am very impressed.
I think that is very smart of Jen to be with you guys on NYE. it must be a hard decision but one that makes a lot of sense. Best to be surrounded by those who love and support you than by bad thoughts. I get that. :(
yeah, I am a putterer and a killer of time like no other...
Thank you for the family tree run down :)

Felis- I love it when you are talkative!!
I am jealous that you are able to get outside even if it muddy. I miss my plants and yard. Even the hidden dog poop.
Right now it is frozen solid to the snow and I can't clean it up. But the good part is that if you step on it, it doesn't stick to your shoe. haha!!
You are too funny asking Hunter if she left any surprises and I am not surprised that she didn't answer. *grins*
You did a great job with your 52 project!

Jean is doing a magnificent job scrapping-- how many Standing O's did you get this month? I know it was a lot!

My neighborhood is a street filled with summer lake houses that were converted into regular year-round houses over time. Not one looks like the other because they consist of additions and renovations. My house started as a kitchen/bath/2 small bedrooms. When we bought it, it had another bedroom/bath and living room added on. We added a second level before Gary got sick and that is where the kids' bedrooms are. Most of the homes here have gone through similar changes.

You all would be somewhat proud of me, I did spend an hour scrapping with my electric blanket on. Yay me!

Hi Cheryl- hope to see you posting in the Ooos! Just as Felis said, it is just a thread where we chatter on about our days. You can post as much or as little as you like :)
Happy new year to you too!

Jean- I hope that the Society is able to get you access to the book soon. How neat to see the old cars.
You got to 20* yesterday? That is downright balmy! I think we had a high of 14.

hugs!!!

I can't believe, that tomorrow night is New Year!?!
I'm so exciting, even I don't have big plans for the night, Just a usual family party.
I slept so well tonight. Usually I don't remember the good dreams when I wake up, but this night I had 2 greath that remember. Hope they are good sign for the New Year!
I was on rush this morning, because somehow  (ugh, alright so typically for me), I somehow deleted the file with the descriptions and translations for the all 5 my LOs, so I wrote it again. Keep one card with which I'm very proud of, for tomorrow post and even already have some ideas for the next year LOs, this is so exciting! Today I have to do thoroughly clean of the cats house, and then will come back to my holiday laziness.

Chris, we don't put the decoration away before the first sunday at the next year, because in the past holidays are been post on a different dates, so they are continued till january 6th. I think this is our variant to your early put it up. The cold is not cool ;) like the snow, I don't like just to chill. Today is so much cooler, it's a really strange, like we are in different season every day. I'm not surprised from your condition, I'm often in something like hibernation if is so cold like around you. Yay! For the 50th! I was hoping this to be my 'BIG' year because of my 30th, but then I scared and canceled our plans. So now nothing big plan for the 2018, will react spontaneously and hope it's better! I'm proud of you every time when you take some time for relax, so I'm happy for yesterday!
Hahaha, :) I'm frustrated why Hunter always come to be part of something, but never want to make normal conversation. I expect that from the siamese, because he show me clear boss/worker (he/me) relationship, but I deserve more from my grey cats group. :bump2:

Jean, this about the puzzles is so interesting. Definitely couldn't happen here. Most people don't respect the public property and they will be scattered without restrictions. Also my sister tried to donate books to the library at my town. It's a very small library and have mostly classic books and school literature, nothing modern. So my sister wanted to give them modern and on english language books. But the prime librarian was very rude. She is told that the building is too small to can take donations, exept replasment of the books in bad condition. And also that if she has to enter all new titles in their list this is additional work for her and no one will pay for it. So we just was discouraged to give books.

Nancy and Rae, hugs!

The silence of Trudy mean that she have a great time with the kiddos, I guess!

I'm a little bit worried about the new Sharon's silence, but I hope that all is fine!

Cheryl, Happy New year to you too! Hope it is wonderful one and you found what you looking for!

good morning it is lightly snowing. The temp should be in 20s and with snow that will be a fun walk when my DH finally decides to get up. Well my Devils lost in OT last night to the Buffalo Sabres. As much as they tried not to think they were the last place team they did not work as hard as they have against other teams. But we did get one point and that keeps them in first place. Tonight they play the Washington Capitals in Washington so I can relax in my own home. The dinner was awesome, a margarita pizza and soft serve vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce. The walk was cold but worth it. And the place was super crowded we arrived at just the right time. The Devils handed out little mini hockey sticks from Martin Brodeur. The Devils showed the USA/Canada world juniors game. Now that was an awesome game as the Canadiens were winning 3-1 at the start of the 3rd period but the USA team came back and tied and won in a shoot out. So it was a good time with hockey. The USA/Canada game was played outdoors and lots of snow. So pretty! Fun watching them play in the snow. I have to get scrapping as I am way behind but I now have no games to get ready for so I should have plenty of time.

Chris glad you made it through the cold. My DH was out cleaning dog poop and said it was frozen to the ground but he persevered. He and Luther were out for a long time. And yes I too cant believe the year is over. It went so fast. This year was my big one as I turned 65. Congrats on your 25 years and turning 50! I am always happy when marriages last as it is really a commitment and it is hard work!

Felis so glad you are having me time and got to be outdoors. And yes in the winter weather changes so fast. That is a shame that the librarian did not want books. Maybe a school library would want the books.

Rae hope that your NYE is not too sad. So glad that Jen has you and your DH to help. Never easy with wanting the best for our kids not matter how old they get or we get they are always our babies. Have fun watching movies and your dinner sounds great.

Jean sorry the library was not ready that is a shame. But sounds like you made the best. Jean love the puzzles.

Cheryl the daily Os are just a good way for me to start the day. Fun to get to know others here at the O.

Waving to Trudy!

Have a great day all!

I feel overwhelmed (and guilty) at the thought of trying to keep up with all of your world going-ons, but just thought I'd share a happy happy! Just made ice cream chocolate cream cookies shake for breakfast because, hey! let's celebrate the last days of 2017 any way we can!

Good morning ladies. I’ve been relaxing this morning with D and reading my last book of 2017 “Genuine Fraud”. I will be popping out in a bit for groceries and since it stopped raining, will take Taz to the dog park. I hope to scrap a bit later and organize some more Pinterest boards as we watch some shows. I’m going to make some coleslaw later to have with burgers for dinner and will have some leftover to have with the pork tenderloin tomorrow. I also want to rice some cauliflower for the week.

Chris...I saw the pic of Whiskey on FB...she is so cute and looking so much healthier. You are such a good doggie mom.

Felis...glad to hear you are enjoying your holiday time. That sucks about losing the info and having to re-enter it again. I’ve done that more times than I want to remember lol.

Nancy...having a break from the games sounds like a great time to get some scrapping done. I’ll be looking for them in the gallery.

Hi Cheryl...don’t worry about keeping up. Pop in whenever you wish and chat or not chat as you want. It’s always fun to keep in touch with our scrappy friends here and it’s a lovely way to start my morning most days. Sometimes life is busy of course and some days are just a quick hello from me.

Jean, Trudy....everyone else....hope all is well. Im getting into the shower now and have to get a move on with my day.

I may be chatted out for the day but have to say Hi to all.

Chris, amazing that we've survived this year. One of my IRL friends is turning 50 in April so I figure I could be your moms as DH and I celebrate 50 earlier in April. I still remember how unbelievable it was when we reached 30 (I mean we couldn't be that old let alone married that long, could we?)

Felis, wonderful you had good dreams! Yes, hope it's a sign for the new year. And I think it's only reasonable to expect Hunter to answer. And that library sounds awful on all fronts. Who on earth gets any good from it?

Nancy, saw that the lowly Sabres prevailed but the Devils kept first place. Read about that outdoor game and that they had to keep removing snow. It was in Buffalo after all. Nice to enjoy tonight's game in comfort of home.

Cheryl, that sounds like a wonderful breakfast to celebrate the new year's weekend. Sometimes I come and read the Daily Ooos, but can't find any words to put in. Recently I've been unusually chatty, but it doesn't matter how much or whether you write.

Rae, glad the rain stopped and you can get Taz out. Sounds like you're ready for a nice relaxing time.

Hi to Trudy, Sharon, and all.

I am here! First Christmas without my FIL, but it was good. Not good for my dad. This is the last year I can bring him home from the nursing home. His Alzhiemers is getting worse and he is frail, but at 92, thats pretty good. Decorations are coming down slowly- outside today before the weather gets bad.

Rae- yay for long weekends- now you can scrap!
Jean-keep up the scrapping- you are doing great!
Felis- thanks for thinking of me :) It sure is a shame your library doesn't want nice books like that. Get some volunteers to help check books in.
nancy- the hockey games sound fun- the mini hockey sticks must be cute!
Hummie- glad you checked in.
Chris-you made it through 2017 and you will get to 50- thats good. I will hit 60 in 2018- :help:

Good morning, girls!
Today is the day! One last rush, before to start on clear!
Will be so fun, I'll first will jump into the New Year and will wait you there. :champagne:champagne
I hope you knows what a treasure yOu all was for me!

PS. I'm back with personals :)

Sharon, the age is just a number, don't think it to much, after so difficult period something better waiting for you into the new decade!
We don't have such a thing like library volunteers, the government wolker don't left outside people to sneak on their thetitory. But like Nancy suggested we'll give them somewhere else.

Hehe, Jean, yep Hunter is one of these cats which are give reasons for the Salem's myths, I wouldn't be surprised if she answer me some day. Thank you for all that you shared about the 52 project!

Rae, you must do tonight special, I so strongly hope to see Jen in the club of the Strong happy single women sooner! I also had better luck with the next book I've started. Short stories, nothing special but nice. I don't want to complain on festive day, but I know you'll understand me best, I just hate today's noise, all these noisy pyrotechnics. I wondering how much of the street dogs are like Taz and will be petrified?! At least ours have where to hide. I was wondering when Beckham will moved?!

Cheryl, sounds good to me to celebrate at any way we can! Keep going.

Nancy, the diner sounds good, but the game outdoors and lots of snow even better! I'm sure you'll have some marvelous party tonight.

Trudy, hugs, hugs, hugs, my dear!

And Chris, what's done is done, girl, slow down today and have a fun! Many fur kisses and hugs from here sendet to you and your dears!

Happy New Year!

Happy Sunday and Happy New Year's Eve!

Who has fun plans? Do any of you go out to a party or do you prefer to stay home and be cozy? My brother gave me money to order pizzas so that is what we will do for dinner. Scott is with Leah and her friends, but Caitlyn and Brendan will be here. We are going to play the Fake News Headline Game too. I will be in bed at my normal time-- 8 pm, I am such a rebel

I took the ornaments off of the tree and Gary took off the lights and brought it out back. We lean the old trees up in the woods behind the house so the critters can find shelter underneath them. Most of the ornaments are packed away but some of the ones that don't have boxes are still on the DR table. I pooped out around lunchtime. That is my goal today, to get the ornaments upstairs and have someone help me get them into the attic.

I poked around Ravelry.com for a while too.My MIL gave me cotton yarn for Xmas, 2 skeins of each color. There isn't enough to make a scarf or cowl from them. I don't know where she got them so I am wondering if Joann's or Michael's will let me swap them to get more of the same color.

I am really beyond done with this cold weather- and a Supermoon today, no less. Pain levels are sky high. And yikes. I just looked at my To-Do list from yesterday and I didn't finish anything that was on it. I guess I have a lot more to do today than I wanted... :eek:hwell:

Wishing you all the best of *everything* in 2018!!!!

PS: My "new year's resolution" (since I don't really make them, it is more of an idea than a goal) is to be kind. To others as well as to myself. I hope that you will encourage me to do that!

Felis- I never liked NYE, even as a kid it made me feel too much pressure. So a family night is a good thing in my opinion.
Isn't it nice to have good dreams, even if you don't remember them? Ugh about deleting your files. I do that too.
Oh yes! Cinderella's coach turns into a pumpkin at midnight and I turn into a slug in December. All I want to do is sleep and eat carbs-- if I could hibernate until April, I would so happy.
We are a lot alike. I hate having parties for myself, and I told everyone last year I wanted nothing for my birthday, pushing them off by saying that they can throw me a party when I turn 50. Now I am not so sure I want a party, but I know I am going to have to deal with it LOL
Tell Hunter that I said hi and meow hee hee!!!

Nancy- you night sounds like it was a lot of fun even if the Devils lost in OT. Cool to be surrounded by other huge hockey fans too.
We ended up getting a couple of inches of snow- but the one (and only!) good thing about it being so cold is that it was very dry and fluffy which will make shoveling the driveway today easy.
What is your DH's secret to getting the poop up off of the lawn? I was using an old ice scraper and trying to pry it off of the ground :pound:
25 years of marriage doesn't seem like such a big deal but I love Gary so darn much. We have been through a lot but I wouldn't trade him in for anything.

Cheryl- sharing a happy happy is wonderful!! That shake sounds yummy!

Rae- what is your book about? I am almost done with the second book in Crake and Oryx series by Margaret Atwood. She is eerily prescient about things happening in the world now.
bet Taz was thrilled to be at the dog park! I would love to take my girls over there, I know that they need a place to run but it is too cold.
I am happy that the Giardia test came back negative so no more worries on that!
OMG- wasn't that picture of W hysterical?
For those not on FB, she was sitting upright, like a person on the sofa, looking utterly ridiculous. That dog is so spoiled. It used to be that the other dogs were not allowed on furniture unless they were invited. This one, she just takes over sits wherever she wants.
And doesn't she look so healthy!?!? What a difference! I scrapped the changes in her for your Jan 52 Insp. Challenge.

Jean- I will gladly be adopted by you! 50 years of marriage is amazing. Congrats!!
I am still shocked that Scott is 21. How does that happen?

Sharon- I am sorry to hear that your dad isn't doing so well. It must be so hard to see such a decline. :(
It sounds so trite to say 92 means a good, long life but I do hope that it is true. Big milestone for you too- turning 60. We are like fine wines- aging well! Well, I feel like I went from wine to fine wine to vinegar in a blink of an eye!

Felis-- Happy new year, sweetheart! You are a treasure to all of us too!
Fur-baby kisses back at you too!

good late morning - my DH was up early and had Luther out for a good walk. It is so cold so that was super nice that he and Luther have walked. But part of it is I am sure he did not want anyone else walking with him. Yesterday the walk was going to be but when we got out of the car and to the path Luther was barking and running at cars and then he pulled my DH down a hill. He was so mad and he was mad all day. Mad at Luther and mad at himself. But Luther is not to blame as my DH is not consistent with Luther. He refuses to use the words we use based on our dog trainer. Good thing Luther is a smart dog. So we came back home and I walked Luther around the neighborhood. Oh well life is funny sometimes. My Devils lost to the Capitals 5-2. It turned when the Caps scored the 4th goal when they had 6 players on the ice. What should have been a penalty on the Caps and a power play for my Devils and the score 3-1 instead of 4-1. My team did not play that well so not surprised they lost but to lose because the refs and linesmen don't call the game fairly makes me a bit angry but it is just a game and they are humans so life goes on. LOL. But got a lot of scrapping done so that is good. I will do more today as hockey and football are on all day.

Felis have a great family New Year's Eve. For some reason I love staying up and seeing in the new year gives me a sense of hope for the coming year. I like the noise. I don't like parties but I love family. When young my sister and I would wait up and then at midnight go out and bang pots and pans.

Chris your evening sounds fun! Playing games is so fun! Fake news until this year I wonder if there was even a thought of a game like that. At our hockey games they have a fake or real when it comes to hockey names so far my favorite name is Sasakamoose.

Rae have fun with the family on new years and you are so organized for fun time and food.

Jean have a great night and congrats on 50 years! That is so awesome.

Cheryl that shake does sound yummy! Have a wonderful night

Sharon enjoy this holiday with your dad.

Trudy waving hi!

Have a great day all!

Morning ladies... yup its me, I'm back but very quickly as DH and I are busy cleaning a bit and trying not to break into tears while doing that :hurt: I want everyone back here!! Its way too quiet. I will fill you all in on the happenings over the Christmas visit, but I have to also run to the store and get some lettuce and few other things to make a salad for tonight. We are heading up to my brothers to spend the night and then we are all going on the groups New Years Day hike in the morning. They thought that after all the chaos of our life in the past couple of weeks it would be good to unwind and just spend an nice time with the two of them for New Years Eve. It will be nice to not have to cook and just let someone wait on me for a change. Had a wonderful time with everyone though and will miss all of the sweet baby cuddles as Hunter is such a little charmer and such a happy boy! Mason is so busy and we miss them all so much already! Like I said I will catch up with you all later on this week, but I really wanted to say HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL! I hope that 2018 is the most wonderful year ever for you!

Good morning, ladies. I've got the pork tenderloin ready for the crockpot, will be dicing up a variety of root veggies and broccoli later for baking, to be topped with goat cheese and pomegranate seeds, served with potatoes (for D) and sweet potatoes for Jen and I. I'm making a banana/pumpkin loaf for snacking on tonight, along with cookies, chocolate and oranges, while we play our games after dinner. Jen's coming over a bit early and there won't be much to do to get dinner ready so we are all going to relax and watch a movie together later this afternoon. I'll get Taz out for a walk early afternoon, to get some energy worked off. Jen has to work tomorrow so she decided to go home tonight, after we ring in the near year at midnight. Taz and I will head out in the morning for our traditional walk along the dike at Colony Farm. It's so different this year, no snow, not like last New Years Day when everything was covered in ice and snow.

I am going to create a scrap page about the books I read this year. I finished my last book this morning (Genuine Fraud) and enjoyed it. I read 41 books this year (kept track of them in goodreads). Looking forward to joining in on the goodreads 2018 reading challenge.

Chris - enjoy the night of family and games. I too like a quiet NYE. We used to go to house parties, would drink too much, eat too much and feel like crap the next day. I'm so glad we just stay home now and I start the new year off by doing something healthy (my morning hike). Love that you guys put the tree outside for the wildlife to utilize. What a great idea.

Felis - glad you've enjoyed hanging out with us here in our daily chatter thread. I look forward to learning more about you in the next year and sharing little bits of our lives with each other. I love our little O family!

Jean - wow...50 years...D and I celebrated 20 this past year and that seems like a long time LOL.

Sharron - it amazes me to hear of parents that reach their 90's. Treasure your moments with him, even though I know things are changing and getting harder.

Nancy - I smiled when you said your DH got pulled down the hill by Luther and then he was mad all day. That used to be D too. He would get frustrated by an action of one of our dogs and it took yrs to teach him that a dog's actions are a reflection of the training and care of the owner. He finally gets it (but it took lots of dog classes). Hope your DH eventually gets it too.

Trudy - welcome back my friend! I can only imagine how wonderful your Xmas was with the family. Even though you are missing them now, just think, you will soon start thinking of your upcoming trip in the spring. Looking forward to seeing your holiday layouts with all your wonderful photos!

I've got to go get the tenderloin in the crockpot so need to get off the computer. I want to wish you all a wonderful NYE. This year of daily chatter together has meant a lot to me and I have really enjoyed learning more about all of you and look forward to another year of it.

Hi everyone... It will be a quiet day for us. DD and her DH are already gone out with friends and DD is leaving soon. We will spend a quiet evening with our dogs!!! It's misty outside, so no fireworks tonight. I will be watching football, maybe scrapping and DH will play games on the xbox

Happy New Year to all!

Rae- the tenderloin sounds great. I didn't think of keeping track of my books in goodreads. That is a good idea.

Trudy- welcome back! I know spending time with the grans was great!

Chris- enjoy your night of games.

Felis- Happy new year as we chatter our way through 2018

Nancy- sounds like a great day of scrapping and watching sports on TV.

Jean- congrats on 50 years. DH and I are approaching 33
