The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
Good Morning, lOvely Ooos!!

Is everyone recovered? Houses back in order? Fridges filled with healthy food?
No? Me neither! :rotfl:

Today is another day, right?

I put away most of the loose ends yesterday, but I created more of a mess in the process. For example, my mom got me a bath towel warmer. My bathroom is teeny tiny. I have a small repurposed CD shelf that I keep some makeup on top and a shelf for my PJs. That won't fit anymore with the towel heater. I spent way too long trying to squeeze the makeup onto a shelf in the linen cabinet that takes up the majority of the bathroom.
I also got a new frying pan- my nonstick pans are no longer nonstick- and some new Pyrex, so today I will be climbing into my one kitchen cabinet to rearrange that.

Just not enough room anywhere.

The big snowstorm doesn;t look like we got as much as expected. The forecast was 5-9" and it looks closer to the 5" than the 9"
That is helpful!

Harrumph.
Maybe not that helpful since J is asking to go outside and I have to get my snow boots etc on first.
BRB!

That wasn't too bad. Jaida went potty quickly and was willing to come right back in. That's unusual for her, typically I have to drag her back inside.

Our Christmas was good. Little kids make everything great...they don't have that constant feeling of sadness. And they got so many gifts...my brother made sure that they had lots of stuff. And I made sure that they had lots of stuff. And, of course, their parents had already made sure that they had lots of stuff. So the theme was...LOTS of STUFF!
That's so sweet to hear. Having the little ones around can help fill that hole the grief leaves.
We all got there early so that when the newly engaged niece arrived we had champagne toasts for them as they walked in the door. Abby doesn't want to do a traditional wedding...don't think that she wanted one before but with her mom gone, she sure doesn't want one right now.
What a bittersweet time. My niece's BFF lost her dad unexpectedly right after Thanksgiving and her wedding was last week. Definitely put more than a little heartbreak in the day. :(
I'm cooking our traditional Christmas dinner tomorrow when both kids are home. And that is also us just rolling with it. Everyone seems happy with that
I am so dang proud of you! I know how difficult that can be, it goes against our nature. ;)

I was a little nervous about that. It's been a long, long time since I started the Daily O's...could I remember the date, could I remember to add Christmas in the title of the thread? Then I thought, you know what, this is my retirement hOme and I'm just going to settle in and go for it.
:floorlaugh: It was perfect!!

but, oh my... I am SORE all over.
It must feel like being in a car accident, the second day is worse than when it happens. Glad that you are taking it easy. I hope that you don't run out of books to read! Bwuahahahah!!!!

I need to change the links on my color play layouts that are posted here and around town. Other than that, not much to do. Mark is working at the sawmill with his stepson who is spending the day with us. We are going to let him paint our bathroom so he can earn some money. I'm also letting him have the two 3-tiered boxes I am no longer using for gardening. He likes to do that, so it will save him some money. If I want to grow anything, I think I will try doing it in pots or 5-gal. buckets!
Sounds like you and mark and his stepson had a good plan for the day.

Not sure I'll dare to try and see if I can install my old PSE11 on this new computer today. If it's not working, I will ..... I don't even know what I'll do.
Did you have any luck with that? *fingers crossed for ya!*
ohn has bought so many new games this fall - we're having so much fun. We've played 7 Wonders, Pandemic, Cascadia, Sushi Go, Catan, Azul, and we have even more games to play. I came up with a Christmas 2025 Board Game Tournament that we are doing. Family time is such a wonderful thing!
I heard that Pandemic is great! The others I haven't heard of.
We got a few games this year, too. Scott and I were saying how he and Sam need to come over soon to do a big game night. He tends to come over on Thursdays when he is off, and she is at work. We played Ravine the last time he was here for dinner but we really are due for a full game night with *everyone* :)
Urban and I have started from the beginning with Stranger Things, instead of watching the new season. We will finish season 2 this evening, maybe even start on season 3. We felt we didn't remember enough from the older seasons to just watch the final season before watching the old ones first. The kids are so young and cute in the first season!

That's such a good idea, I kinda wish we had done that too.

Hugs!

How is J doing? When do you take her back for a follow-up appointment?

Yes, his stepson just got out of prison...wrongful accusations...he says. I think I believe him. He was a drunk before prison dried him out. He can't find a job because of the prison time. He's currently staying with a halfsister who's a drunk so he really needs to get away from her, which he's trying to do. It's a bad situation. So we are trying to do what we can to help. He's a sweet kid when he's sober. I say kid, but he's 40, lol.

Good morning,
Hi 40s currently. Supposed to be 71 later. We're trying to arrange a bike ride with our biking buddies and dinner.
Other than that, not much going on today. Need to get my shower here in a few so I can be ready when they are.
Have a great day!

Good morning. Today is a day of cooking Christmas dinner. Even though it isn't Christmas. And I have made layouts two days in a row. Are you kidding me?? Two days in a row! I think that I have decided on the word for 2026...INTENTIONAL. I think peace will follow if I am intentional. I hope so. Anyway,,,

Yesterday was uneventful. Shaun worked and the rest of us didn't. :rotfl: Still a little crazy to me. But so far retirement is working for me. A week from today, Sydney and I start the drive back to Florida. We are planning to drive for two long days...we being Sydney. And she did get a second job interview...the company in Gainesville wants her to come out for an in person interview and a tour of the facility the first couple of weeks of January. So we will see...that will turn my word into IRONIC!

What a delightful weather day. That will be fun for all of you.

I totally feel your pain. I have been so spoiled over the years with an abundance of room in my homes. That is not the case in this house. There really isn't enough room. But here we are. So one thing that I need to do is get through this house and figure out what we have, where.

I am so dang proud of you! I know how difficult that can be, it goes against our nature. ;)
Thank you for the praise because you know that this is not my nature! But I'm working on it!

Finally got my new computer up and running. First thing I did was opening Edge, go to Mozilla & install Firefox. Now trying to get the screen settings to look right. Screen is big as a TV compared to my old laptop. I will go insane! I do not like changes.

Not sure I'll dare to try and see if I can install my old PSE11 on this new computer today. If it's not working, I will ..... I don't even know what I'll do.
Wow! I am so proud of you Eva. I'm just now getting the hang of my new computer. New OS and Cloud has sent me over the edge. But I'm almost comfortable when I sit down here now. You did this in record time. And your Christmas sounds perfect!

@BrightEyes I hope you wake up feeling even better today. But I'm sure that another PJ day won't hurt you! Just saying.;)

You are both so right... the 2nd day after the fall, I hurt more than the day I fell. Still aching this morning but feeling steady enough to take a shower in just a little while. PJs??? or get dressed??? Depends on how I feel once the shower is done. Chris, I have plenty of books that I haven't read... but yesterday I re-read 2 books by my favorite authors. They helped to pass the time and kept my mind occupied. I had started a library book but it was too depressing so switched to books I knew would lift my spirits... and they did. For supper, I had the left-overs from the Christmas meal that DD#3 brought down. And I managed to get the dirty dishes into the dishwasher, cleaned up the stove, microwave, sink and countertops... plus handwashed DD#3's containers - and put them into the tote ready for her to pick them up. So nice to get up to a clean kitchen again.

Time for my shower... BBL

I know it's a bit silly of me, but I'm sad today. Our BIG pine tree (on the left on the photo on this layout) has fallen down. It's a big storm here in Sweden today. There are many trees that has fallen. I loved that big lovely pine. And it's full of pine cones, it was a healthy tree. It's at the far end of the garden & the garage seems to be okay, but it's hard to see since the tree is huge. That tree gas been standing there for many many years. It's so sad.

I don't think that it is silly at all. That tree was huge. Things like that really make me sad!:hug3::ketchup: A big hug coming your way...and even some ketchup to make you smile!

I've got to head out in 10 min, going swimming, then lunch with the gals and then over to a friend's for an afternoon of canasta. Just wanted to say hi and hope you all enjoyed the holiday.

@faerywings Here's a pic of Luke with a wreath and then we went over to stable to get pics of baby Billy Ray with antlers on.

I'm so sad...Kirsten left this morning. We dropped her at the airport, it was crazy busy there. She is leaving our sunny 70* days to go back to cold and 8" of snow. The week flew by, we had a great time and I miss her so much. We went Christmas caroling, Christmas parties, we did our traditional family "night before, the night before" so Factime with DD and family .We went shopping, to lunches, dinners out, we cooked together, went to the pool, fed the turtles & fish and played games. She gave me one of the best presents I ever got. It took her almost 2 months so it was allot of work. It is a thumb drive- music by one of my favorite Rod Stewart songs-Forever Young. She compiled movie clips and photos of my grandchildren through the years, many with me so it is super special memory slideshow. In the end each grandchild says' "I love you Grammy". I cried and cried. We talked to both of our kids back North then went to a friends house for Christmas dinner with a bunch of other friends.
Doing laundry and some cleaning today. Starting tomorrow it will be empty kitchen cabinets, etc. Starting to prep for the remodel.
I gave hubby a chimenea for Christmas he will put it together so it would be good for little campfire tonight before the cooler weather gets here.

I'm back... shower is done. No problems taking it... but had a shock when I took the bed-sock off the left foot. The big toe and the area around it has ugly purple bruises all over it... no wonder, it has been achy and tender. The left knee is bruised but the split skin is beginning to heal. Decided it is going to be another PJ day!!! I was worn out by the time I got finished. AND...it is RAINING! Not a heavy rain but glad to get any moisture at all. Good day to relax and read the day away.

Thank goodness I have enchilada sauce and guacamole thawed out so easy-peasy to make for supper.
