hey there, dear O-zies!
I am not sure what kind of day I am having. I slept better - 4.30! Staying in bed until almost 6. Physically, I am much better. Emotionally- that is up in the air ATM. W scared the you know what out of me just now. She was on my bed, then jumped down ad started whining and crying. I thought she was hurt but she was actually looking at Ray. Ray was all twisted up on her bed and seemed unable to move. Gary and I were petting her and straightened her out a bit and then she was able to go outside. But boy, she is weak and wobbly. We will be keeping a close eye on her this weekend. She is still "there" when we look at her, and doesn't seem to be in pain and those are the big factors to watch. Why W was whining like that, I don't know but she sensed something wasn't right. J and W have been sniffing her a lot lately so I wonder if the toxins are building up in her, causing her to smell different.
I hate this part. It could be today, it could be two weeks. And each time I see her and she looks like she isn't moving/breathing, it makes my heart drop.
I know that you all know this. Please let her go in her sleep peacefully.

I got a few more things accomplished yesterday- pecan pie bars are done and ready to go into the freezer. Pinecone firestarters are bagged up and labeled.
We had a nice visit with my parents- and they gave us an early Xmas gift! They were able to find a patio heater! Gary put it together and I was able to order the cover/sand ballast from Amazon. This way when family comes up we can be outside and not freeze completely. That is one less thing to worry about for Christmas Day.

Today is more baking and cleaning and gift making. I really want to scrap a page- as I have been saying every day for weeks. ;)

HAGD!!

Kay- *shudders a bit at your finger*
Hope that it is feeling better and heals quickly! At least you were able to finish cooking your yummy dinner! How is the weather looking today? I saw a headline that NJ is supposed to get snow in the next week but I refuse to read anything more about it. Heh.

Trudy- is my insomnia contagious? If so, I am very sorry. Although with all of the craziness in the US, your neighbors to the south are probably more to blame than me all the way on the East coast of N America LOL
Great news about DHs vision doing better!

Rae- how are you holding up, doing relatively ok? Hope that you can decorate a bit and that it cheers you. xo

Cheryl- I don't mind small spiders- up to an inch or so. Rita is *awesome* to look at, she has beautiful coloring but I don't think I have it in me to handle her. Scott had a whip scorpion that I would hold and he was super tickly in my hand. Bt something about tarantulas- yeah, not up close LOL
That is what I am telling myself too- next year I can get back to shopping at small businesses.
Any updates on the house?

Felis- So happy that you had a festive day and that the weather was nice!
Jean is such a sweetheart for helping me with Scott's gift. When I tell all of you how much I love my O-Fam, I truly mean it from the bottom of my heart. Each and every one of you makes my world so much happier.
Yes, I imagine that lots of real cats on Christmas would be a bit chaotic! Dogs do that too. :)

Hugs to all of you!

I woke up at 3 AM with the finger throbbing but managed to doze until just after 4 AM. Gave in and got up to take some pain meds. Still very sore so doing most things with my left hand. It is 28*... brrrr. What is the saying 'red skies in morning... sailor take warning' - well we have lots of red to pink clouds so guess the storm is heading our way. The top of the Sandia mountains have snow on them.

I meant to mention that my holiday decorations are shown in my LO for the Border Edge Challenge. WOW... can't believe it already the 12th Day of the 12 Days of Christmas event!!! Time sure has slipped by quickly. Just saw the Template Challenge... will try to get that one done soon. So glad that HOPE is the theme for the collaboration. We all can use a boost of HOPE to our spirits.

Chris. will hope that W just goes to sleep peacefully. I know it is hard to watch and wait when a fur baby has reached that stage. ((( hugs )))

Hello girls,
I'm training to work on my handmade gifts as there are only 2 weeks till Christmas, but without success. I'm disappointed that sewing it turned out to be more difficult than I expected. I posted my first try at the Chris' Thread. I'm not a person that believe in patient learning process, life is too short to try to improve in something that not come easily to you. I still have some hope for the sewing and hope to not disappoint me!
I'm knitting also few things, but I can't find anywhere the yarn for my sister's scarf project. My house is very small, it's apartment for US standards, so there isn't lots of cabinets where it can hide, but I wasn't able to find it in any of my craft boxes. Uhhhh, why I'm so disorganized?!
Yes I'm disappointed by the results, but actually the process of making gifts was very fun and happy. I'm feeling a little bit as elf! :bump2:

Chris, I'm so happy to hear that you'll have Christmas with your parents, even unusual one! Hooray for the patio heater!
Poor, Ray! I think you're right and the other dogs can catch some scent in her as I know that some dogs are trained to alarm diabetics for low insulin, who knows how many other things they can detect too. I'm sorry, there is nothing that I can say to comfort you! Stay strong.

Kay, I'm so agree with you 12 days party was lots of fun and I have idea about the hope template for which I'm very excited to do, but will be in some of the next days.

good day! I swear I don't know where my days go. I got Luther out during our mini snow storm. It was so fun. My DH went into work only to be locked out by the University as they did not have all the paper work done for who was and was not on the list. That caused lots of problems and emails and phone calls. On the bright side he called and Luther and I went down to meet him. It was fun to see Luther get so excited. We had a nice walk after that through the town. So having my DH home makes things a bit more complicated with him having to be in certain rooms for his zoom meetings. Watching a silly series on Netflix - Young and Hungry. Each episode is 20 mins are so but some of them make me laugh out loud which these days is a good thing.

Chris have you heard we are to get two snow storms next week. Luther will be happy and I have to say since I don't have to drive I think it will be fun. I know Chris you are not excited but I think it will look so nice. That art by Jean is so awesome. She is a real talent. And you are so correct people at the O are the best. All your baking must be making the home smell so good. Your baskets will be awesome! Hope you sleep better.

Trudy how fun to have such long talks with Heather and Hunter. I remember playing Sonic the Hedgehog with my sons and they were always so much better than me. Congrats to your DH in getting his eye surgery. Seeing better is so fantastic and I know my DH is so happy with his new eyes.

Felis handmade gifts are so special. I hope you get more work done. Congrats on having such a special festive day. Good walks with dogs are just the best!

Rae I hope your back is holding up! Decorating slowly has its advantages. Kinda cool to see new every day! Have fun!

Kay your weather sounds like ours can be. We went from 50s and now we are getting warnings of two snow storms. So sorry about your fingernail breaking off. I have done that and it always surprises me how much it can hurt and how often we use those fingers.

Cheryl so glad you are feeling so much better. Sorry you cant find the correct stone. But glad things are going well.

Jean that was such a nice thing you did for Chris and Scott!

Have a great day all!

Received a winter storm warning and high wind warning for late this afternoon and all night. Warned that winds could gust over 60 mph so we should put anything loose outside away. Took the patio swing down from its frame and moved it over against the corner where it is shielded. Also took the smaller patio table umbrella down and stored it in the same place. Hope the rest of the patio furniture stays in place during the storm.

Need to dig out candles and flashlights... just in case we lose power.

Hello, my lovely OZIES!!!

Chris, you slay me - Rita is awesome to look at. The kids have seen a couple of Tarantulas - but fortunately I haven't. Braden swears that's what they are. Before we moved to OK, I had to do about a year of getting over my horror of snakes! I joined "Snakes of Oklahoma" group on FB. It REALLY helped - those people love snakes and convinced me that snakes have their place in the eco system. I'm not saying I want to encounter one, but I did get over my horrible fear of them. Chuck found a snake skin in the well house, when we first moved here, and I not only touched it, but picked it up! that was huge for me! Now, I need to find a group like that on spiders.

I pray that W goes peacefully. Sending lots of hugs to you all. Yay on getting the pecan bars done. I'm getting nothing done - cooking/baking wise, this year. There, I just said it.

Group hugs to all and I hope you all have a good weekend.

We had many gray days after the snow on Dec. 1, but the last two days were sunny and not too cold. Today was rainy but even it had a peek of sun. Our library is closed again but doing curbside pickup so this afternoon I got the books I had on hold. I've finished one Christmas project: I did drawings for birthday cards not just for DH but also his sister and I meant to do one for his brother (early Nov.) but it never got past the idea stage. Then I decided I'd do it as a Christmas card to include in the box with gifts for him, the evil cat and his birds. And I did it! Now we have to send them off on Monday and hope they get to OK in time.

Chris, I did the template LO today with a photo you appreciated in the spring, so this one is sort of for you: https://ozone.oscraps.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=439757. So glad you have your wonderful family and us here too for support while watch and wonder when with R. Take you mind to more pleasant things like the wonder of the patio heater and the good smells of your baking. Hugs to all of you!

Kay, sure hope the finger is better and that everything didn't blow away. Keep warm and inside.

Felis, I couldn't tell the details of your sewing projects, but they looked pretty nice in the picture. It used to be that making things was a major way of having gifts. I sure did my share of crocheted things at one time but also some sewing, etc. Hope you found the yarn. I sure do misplace things myself, so can easily understand.

Nancy, two snow storms coming? Say it isn't so! Sure hope they stay away from us. As you say though, Luther will be loving it. Tonight we watched some of the soccer game in which the Columbus Crew won the MLS championship. Usually the only soccer I watch is world cups, but I go past their stadium on the way to the state historical society and the governor gave it a waiver from our curfew (also both coming Browns night games.)

Cheryl, that is an interesting story about getting over the horror of snakes. I can't say I have a horror, but they're one of the few creatures I don't much like and prefer not to see. Spiders though have never been a problem. Not sure I've seen a wild tarantula, but in Osage County I saw a big hairy wolf spider that I thought could be one. I do love the pictures of Rita. Hope more work got done on the house and that the right stone comes soon.

Sad to see the party ending, it was fun.

Happy Sunday!! I slept past 5 am today. I needed that.
So far, no changes with Ravyn. Whew. (I think "whew." At this point, who knows?) She is sleeping most of the time but she was very excited to get cookies and eat her dinner. That makes me happy.

I was busy all day yesterday. I stripped the bed- blankets, and comforter and all. Baked fregolatta cookies- a crispy almond cookie. Crocheted two more coffee cup cozies. And I am trying to block the wool scarf. I don't have a blocking board or pins but I soaked it and stretched it out on towels. If it works great, if not it won't be any more uneven then it was already *g*

I am going to have another super-busy day today, food order prep, more gift making, figuring out WTH to make for dinner(s) :yell: It will be just the three of us tonight. Scott is with Leah for Hanukkah. My ILs are stopping by at some point this afternoon.
I still have not had a chance to scrap.
Some day? Maybe??
:noidea:

hugs!

Kay- How is the finger doing today? Has to hurt like heck especially since it is really hard to not use your dominant hand.

Felis- I understand -- sewing is 100% not in my ability to do. It is too precise, I have a tendency to wing things. If I notice I missed a switch in crocheting, I can always double up somewhere else so get the row to count right. It is why my pieces look lopsided but at least it won't completely ruin it. I will have to check out the thread to see it.

Nancy- Sounds like a mess over at the University but how fun to have Luther and you make a visit to him. Two storms??? :faint:

Kay- *fingers crossed you don't lose power*

Cheryl- Good for you to join the FB snakes group. Exposure to fears is a very time-tested way to acclimate yourself.

Jean- The card for your BIL must be hysterical! Evil cat! LOL Your LO is very hopeful!! Nature is so much more resilient than I feel but I will take comfort in it.

xoxo

Wow... I slept in until 7AM...9 hours of blissful sleep. No snow but lots of wind. Didn't lose power so that was good. Very cold this morning so still in my PJs. I managed to shower and shampoo my hair yesterday by wearing a rubber glove on the right hand. Still a PITA trying to do things. Changed the bandage on the finger after using Hydrogen Peroxide plus some antibacterial gel on it. And, yes, it is still very sore and any touch still hurts. Can't roll my hair so will have to live with it just being brushed back.

Guess I am going to have to make some enchilada sauce today... have avocados that are ripe and need to be used. Thought I had some sauce in freezer but nada... Since I have 3 avocados in various stages of ripeness I will make enough sauce for several meals.

Wow, Chris... you were really busy yesterday. Good luck on getting everything done before Christmas. Yep, I have used towels as a blocking board, too.

Jean, I was LOL over the card for your BiL... bet it is big hit.

Cheryl, did you get much snow out the storm?? Looks like it hit your area worse than mine.

Morning ladies and Happy Sunday! It is a wet and dreary morning, but I slept until 8:15! I am excited to say that I got an order for a painting, but oh my goodness she wants it before Christmas!! Yikes! It's been awhile since I have painted, so I guess I better get back into practice! Not sure if I will be able to get this done by the big day and then there is the shipping! It is just over to the Mainland, but still everything takes so long these days! Yesterday was a write off as we spent the morning running a few errands and then off to the In-Laws to deliver gifts and have a social distance visit! MIL and FIL were so happy to see us and get to talk to someone other than themselves for a change LOL We picked up a beautiful huge Poinsettia for MIL at Costco last weekend and she was just thrilled to have it! It brought her a lot of joy!! So nice. Today will be cleaning and :washing: and hopefully getting a very large canvas made?? Sorry I have been so absent from here, seems my life is always so busy, who knew :noidea: I thought I would have so much time on my hands this winter, but it is proving to be just the opposite. Anyway DH is wanting some breakfast, so I will get busy with that and will try to catch up with everyone later on today! Just wanted to pop in and say hey!! Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

Rainy and gray again but we'll be watching football and Christmas stuff today.

Chris, hope your busy day goes well. Have fun with the ILs.

Kay, poor you with the sore finger. At least you managed to get clean hair if not in rollers.

Trudy, we're working on a puzzle that makes me think of you

I love trains and this vintage view is fun. My father worked for the railroad, so that was the way we traveled back in the day.

Hope everyone's weekend finishes off well.

good day - well I have got up early and have already been to the grocery store. I hate going but it was necessary but at least at 7 in the am there were so few people there it was fast in and fast out. My DH took Luther alone. My stomach is acting up. I am hearing though that hockey is starting Jan 13. I am hoping this is really true. I could use the distraction while waiting my turn for the vaccine.

Chris have a good visit with the ILs. Today is going to be nice before the storms. I am glad that Rayven is stable. I totally agree it is so hard to figure out dinners. Hope you find all you need at the store.

Kay that was one scary storm warning. I think we will be having that same warning on Wed. How much snow did you get? We are expecting more than 10 inches. It might be a white out if we get a lot of wind.

Cheryl that is so interesting that there is a don't be afraid of snakes fb group. I am so glad it worked for you. I would never have thought to look for that.

Jean I saw the Crew won the championship. That is cool! Now time for the Browns.

Felis I could never sew. I hope you keep trying I am sure your gifts will be awesome.

Rae are you watching the Hallmark movies. I am. My DH says/asks didn't I just see her in the last film. They are fun to watch.

Have a great day all!

Happy Sunday OZIES.

Kay, we did get snow! It's still coming down - not a whole lot of accumulation, I suppose the ground is too warm, but it's been coming down all day! It's SO beautiful, though. Glad you didn't lose your power.

Ladies - I'm SO proud of myself for all the work I did to get over my horror of snakes! You'd be surprised at how many people join those groups for that same reason. I knew, moving out here, that there would be a real possibility of encountering them. So far, I've only seen babies (dead on the road :() but to actually pick up that snakeskin was huge for me. I had DH take pics because I knew my girls would never believe it.

Chris, hope you're having a good time with the ILs. Ava has a new boyfriend and she's bringing him down here to meet us later. His name is Trey and she says "he's a real country boy". I'll give you all a report later.

The mark of a good fit (bf/gf wise) is if they can "handle all of us". If they don't have any interest in being around a big, loud family - they won't make it. She had one boy she really liked, but he didn't even want to be around the family. He said he wasn't ready, so she said bye-bye.

Chris, you're a busy, busy, busy bee. I know you'll get everything done.

Felis, I can't sew at all! I used to try, but had to give up. I couldn't even get the machine threaded properly and it kept getting all messed up and the thread was always knotted.

I got all of the challenges done - they were so much fun. That event sure went fast.

Hope you all have a good day - what's left of it. Snow's still coming down! You girls should have seen my "little Florida Daisy" going out in the snow for the first time. She was born and lived in Florida all her little life until we came out here. She was SO funny - lifting her paws up like "what the heck?"

Hugs for all

P.S. I said I did all the challenges - I didn't do The Earliest Memory Challenge. I have no idea where my old pictures are, so I guess I'll go w/o pics.

I am back. Just had to share how I spent the last 4 hours. Decided that enchiladas sounded good so put the sauce on to cook. Have a new package of Hot chili powder [produced in New Mexico] but it is not the brand I usually buy and wasn't near as hot/flavorful as I like. Took twice the amount to get the spices right. I let it simmer for almost 3 hours. While I was starting the sauce, I realized that I had never taken photos of the process of fixing a New Mexico style enchilada meal from start to finish. So. took lots and lots of photos. One thing different in NM style serving is to have flat tortillas stacked with cheese, chopped onions and sauce on each layer; then chopped lettuce and tomatoes on the top. Fried up tortilla triangle chips from fresh tortillas. The avocado was just at the right stage of ripeness... bliss. Enjoyed my late lunch so much. The payoff was I now have 9 meal size severings in the freezer.

Yes, I plan on doing a layout spread telling the story about fixing a NM enchilada dinner. It will take at least a 2-page spread... if not 2 2-page spreads! LOL

Almost time for the Family on-line chat.

ETA: check out my FaceBook page to see a couple of photos.

Good afternoon, ladies. It's been a good wkend. I've been sad off and on but overall, my mood is improving. Finally finished the tree today. I put much less effort into it than I ever have before but still, I do like it. It does brighten my mood. D plugged the tree in at lunchtime today as he sat in the LR watching TV while I puttered around the house. That made me smile, that he is enjoying the tree too. Jen got to put a few decorations on it before she went to work so that made her happy.

Two episodes left of Manhunt Deadly Games, we're all caught up now until the last 2 air. Tonight I think we'll start the latest Fargo season. It's raining heavily here so didn't get out walking for long today with Taz. He enjoyed splashing thru the puddles and was off-leash the whole time as we didn't see any other people or dogs out (I'm always respectful of others, knowing that people and/or their dogs might not like other dogs). We have a great route that goes out our back gate, across the school yard, around the corner into the next school yard and then go all around the soccer field, across the back of the school, thru the greenspace path and end up back at our gate.

We saw a huge flock of starlings land on our big bush out front and then all together fly off in unision, it was so cool to watch. D had never seen that many of them before.

Chris - my heart breaks for Ray and your family as you wait for what you know is coming. We feel the same about Noel. The good thing with Noel is that he is handing the IV wonderfully with Jen. He doesn't fuss at all and gobbles up his treats when it finishes. But we know this is only a temporary gain, we just don't know how long it will be.

Nancy - yes, I'm watching the Hallmark movies when I go to bed and its a nice way to end the day, always happy endings. I'll be watching lots the wk before Xmas as my work schedule will be almost nothing and I'll be able to scrap and watch on my laptop. Looking forward to it.

Trudy - congrats on commissioning a painting!

I'm getting back to chores now...laundry and baking banana bread.

Hello girls,
I'm busy and I'm boring, BUT I couldn't resist to not come to say hello, seeing so many posts here today. So the whole weekend I was doing the same: preparing last parts from my Christmas presents and watching lots of TV. It would have been so useful if I could knit while watching TV, but I can't! I need complete concentration when I'm crafting something.

Chris, hope that at least the fatigue from these 2 days will helps you to sleep better! Bravo for the whole good work done!
I really have to learn to crochet too!

Kay, I hope the strong wind is not damaged something! It must be painful, to rush to move things with this finger pain! This cooking page project sounds interesting, what a great idea!

Trudy, so one of these busy with cute stuff days! Congrats for the painting sale!

Jean, I have around 5 years traveling railroad once at week, and I'm meet the most interesting people there. It's strange how people are more honest and opened to talk with someone who they meet for first and probably the only time. This puzzle looks nice but difficult. Have fun!
So cool that you made cards, hope they'll be there on time! Post service here is terrible this year!

Nancy, I hope that hockey will be back! I'm hearing some plans for concerts in car parks, we will see!
So sweet about Luther and his excitement from the storm! But sorry to hear about your husband's problems with the entrance accreditation, definitely is not fun in any moment, but especially in bad weather!

Cheryl, I love my mom's new sewing machine. It so small, compact and somehow the noise not disturb Tiny, who usually bark on everything: blender, epilator, sometimes even on the toothbrush. Mom already used it successful for pants length fixing. But I continued to fail in construction of objects, even when they are simple square.
I'm so jealous about the snow, here is still muddy! OMG, Daisy in the snow must be adorable! So she didn't like it if I'm got it right?Nah, it's not for everyone. I remember how surprised was Chris to one of my winter pages few years ago, where my cats are enjoying to the first snow LOL.
But looks like Ava likes the new place and fast is become to feels comfortable, I'm happy for her!

Rae, hope the walks to helps for your mood, at least a little bit!
