As someone who doesn't get a lot of the New Year's hoopla, I still would like to wish everyone a happy new year! That said, let me give you a visual example of how I feel:

Yup, that about sums it up! The last few years have been a total blur. The good, the bad, the ugly-- it's all a blur. Bwuahahah!!

I am happy that the tree is down and out of the LR. I think it's still in the hallway to go in the attic but that part's not my job. All of the ornaments are boxed up and the lights are off the house. I am ready to start January fresh.
I have lots of little things to get done today, I want to get my office area tidied. I really want to work on some bigger projects that I have been thinking about but ignoring- like cleaning out the linen closet, it's bad. LOL

I know Cheryl has big plans tonight (can't wait to see the pics!), does anyone else have something fun planned? It's just another night for me. I can't tell you the last time I did something different on NYE.

I guess that's it.
Here's to a fantastic 2023!

Good morning and Happy New Year's Eve. Not much planned today. Syd and I are going to try our hand at Beef Wellington tonight for dinner plus creme brulee. Lots less expensive than eating out and I bet it will be better. LOL

I'm still in the middle of figuring out what to do with lots of stuff. Lots of pictures...pictures as far back as the 1800's. The challenge is that I don't think that anyone in the family is going to be a bit interested. So what happens to all of those photos when I die? And the genealogy records...same thing? Oh my, oh my. I guess I will try to figure that out in 2023.

@LSlycord I should start doing Wordle again, Cait and I always connected with that too. Now that I don't see her as much, I feel like I am missing out on stuff.
It's going to be really fun to have a little on in the house (also nice to have some noise and excitement so the house doesn't seem as quiet after Syd goes back to school :( ) Your cousin's DD will be staying for a week-- Are you taking them sightseeing?
*trying really hard to not be totally jealous of a cruise!* But I am happy for you, that sounds so exciting!! My ILs are leaving on a 9-day cruise today.

@vickyday GMTA- Great minds think alike ;)
The red stain is going to be adorable (tho' don't tell Mark I said "adorable"-- that will be a fast turnaround/change of mind for him if you do LOL)
You cooked a lot!
Did you have a successful Rice Crispy Treat experience? I love that you stick to your traditions with DD.

@BrightEyes you must have a wonderful visit with the family- and to see G-Grandson growing like a weed ♥
Somehow, I ended up with two empty boxes for ornaments, not sure how that happened but they weren't on the tree. Gary ended up throwing out most of the lights since half of them were out. He found a set of LED lights on Woot.com and we packed them away for next year.

@bcgal00 I don't think it's possible to give Remo more snuggles than you do on a daily basis but I bet she was very happy!
Were the bird photos that you shared on FB taken with the new camera? They were *literally* jaw-dropping.
I guess Remi thinks that the snow is just for her too, kooky girl. Hope that you didn't get too much snow.

@Cherylndesigns I have some Cheery O stuff to do today too- have a blast tonight!

Morning, everyone. Been up for awhile - getting coffee made then posting my yearly letter to Bill over on FB. What started as a look back on the year of his death has turned into a way of re-affirming that there is good in every year if I look for it and that his spirit is still beside me. I will be looking through Bill's 2 Memory Albums today. I need to get caught up on printing out the LOs that should be in there that I didn't get done when the computer and printer weren't cooperating. Looks like I will be starting a 3rd Memory album for him in Jan 2023.

I was out running errands yesterday afternoon and saw something I have never seen here before... there were movable roadside advisory signs on 3 of the main streets I use going and coming from the mall, the grocery store and others. All of these roads are on hills. The warning was "Winter Advisory - Snow coming - Use Unser Road", The only problem is that to get to Unser Rd - you have drive up a hill from the mall and stores!!! I can understand the advisory as during last year's big snow storm, people were stranded in cars for hours on those roads. The storm is expected to hit tomorrow into Monday. The TV weathermen were saying less than 2" of snow....but that is what they said last year and we had almost a foot!!!  I don't plan on going anywhere.

Well, I did it.... I put a deposit down on the new car yesterday. It is a 2023 Sonata SEL in Red with all the bells and whistles!!! It should be here the first week of Feb. I am really looking forward to getting it.... love that it has a power driver's seat. My SUV doesn't have that. Turns out the salesman who handled my sale is the same one who sold my grandson his new car 2 months ago.

Need more coffee - will be back for personals.

Same for me. My photos don't go back that far nearly, but no one is going to be interested. That's why I packed the albums I finished scanning and took them to my oldest DD. She is my mini me, so she is the only one who would have any interest in them at all! She did Ancestry for awhile, too.

Weathermen are "practicing" weather predictions just like doctors are "practicing" medicine, LOL! They rarely ever get the weather predictions correct around here and they are changing their predictions all of the time, LOL! I certainly hope the 2" doesn't turn into a foot of snow for you, however!

CONGRATS on putting a deposit down on the new car! WOOHOO! RED! I've always wanted a red car! I've heard the police keep their eyes open on the red cars more, however, for speeding......which I would have a problem with, LOL! I do have a heavy foot! You will have to have someone take a picture of you in your new car!

Love that you are creating memory books of your DH. I would love to do something like that but not sure how Mark would react. I would be doing it for the kids, ultimately. But I would probably spend a lot of time in tears because I still miss him dearly!

GMTA @faerywings (Good Morning to All is all I could put together for your GMTA yesterday, LOL, but that didn't make sense with the HAHAHA!)

Anyway, had a nice day with my DD and GDDs. We made brownies and Rice Krispy Treats for their New Year's Eve party (I should've taken pictures of the treats, LOL!) they are going to have. And we created a photo op area. That was fun! Then we played Rummikub and Qwirkle. I left at 4 when my DD decided she needed to think about supper prep.

Here's the photo op area (we had to try it out, LOL) Since we were doing a selfie, we had to take a side picture. Liz will be taking the pictures tonight.

That little dog Lizzie is holding, Toby.......poor Toby! She needs another baby, LOL! She is always buying dress up gear for him. Here's a few (she said he is used to getting dressed now, LOL!) Poor dog! I don't think he knows he is a dog, however. He even reaches for Lizzie when he is ready for a nap, LOL!

So silly!

And, Mark had enough wood milled to almost finish the cabin walls yesterday! He is out milling more wood today. Trying to beat the rain that is predicted!
26465-web.jpg

He still has lots of work to do before I start moving furniture in, LOL!

Today I am going to do some straightening up around the house. All of the totes are still up here from the Christmas stuff. I want to pack some of the stuff back up (except for my snowmen) and take it back downstairs. My kitchen fairies have deserted me.....again! I wouldn't need them so often if we didn't eat so often, however! Anyone else have that problem?? ;)

Have a great day!

Good morning ladies. I'm heading out in a bit to see if I can spot the beavers down at the water. I stopped there yesterday but no luck. After that I will take a walk thru my favorite park for an hour and then home to get the turkey stuffed and into the oven. Jen is going to work today but will be home for dinner. We'll probably watch a movie or two after dinner. It'll be a quiet night. Xmas decorations are put away except for the tree. That will come down tomorrow afternoon.

I made rice krispie squares for D last night and meatballs. I usually buy meatballs from M&M's but its so easy to make my own and I like putting almond flour and parmesan in mine. I just remembered that I was so tired last night I forgot the squares were cooling on the porch, I left them there all night LOL. I'd better go bring them in. This afternoon I'll make keto brownies for Jen and I.

I haven't done much scrapping this week and it felt good to take a break and do other things. I got one page of my December Daily done so I want to get that put together soon before I forget what to journal about.

We do Wordle every night at dinnertime. Last night I got it in 4 and D couldn't get it.

@faerywings Yes, photos yesterday were with the new gear, I was very happy with the photos I got. Having a lighter system makes it so much easier to handhold up to the sky and get shots of BIF (birds in flight).

@LSlycord Yum, beef wellington and creme brulee sounds delicious!

@BrightEyes congrats on the new vehicle.

@vickyday Enjoy your quiet day. We're having a quiet night too.

I need to get dressed and go see if I can spot the beavers. HAGD everyone.

Good afternoon all.

Busy day today - Adrienne and the pups have been here and we FactTimed my grandson Jordan and GGD Kinleigh, in Michigan. She will be 2 on January 25th. Time sure flies. She's really talking now and getting cuter by the day.

Adrienne and Ava are coming around 5 to do my hair and makeup. We're doing a side, curly bun and I have this peacock feather hair piece that just clips into the hair. We may leave it long and curly on one side - they haven't decided yet. My hair is so long that we can do just about anything with it. We found some pictures on Pinterest. LOL We're leaving about 6 for the party - we're having dinner before the party starts. Chuck said he's so happy that I didn't insist he goes. He'll be lucky to make it til ten.

Chris @faerywings my NYE's have typically been a yawn, too. When I lived in Florida, we went to a few parties, but this is the first time I've been to a "shindig" like this in probably forever. It's been hard not to get caught up in the spirit of the Roaring 20's with everybody else all a' flutter. The first thing Adrienne said, a few weeks ago was, "We're invited to a big NYE party and you're going, Mom!" BWAHAHA We started looking in vintage stores before Christmas. The night we went to the Christmas Walk, we spent most of our time in them.

Linda @LSlycord your dinner menu sounds scrumptious. Can't wait to hear all about it and how fun to have Syd in the kitchen with you.

Kay @BrightEyes your evening sounds absolutely lovely. I know it will be a quiet, special time for you to reminisce about you and Bill over the years. How nice that you write him a letter every year. You two must have had such a wonderful marriage. Sending hugs to you for your "celebration" tonight. Congrats on the new car, too - how exciting!!

Vicky @vickyday what cute pictures you're going to have. Looks like you're all ready to ring in the new year.

Rae @bcgal00 your walks always sound so wonderful and I'm so happy that you love your new camera setup.

I'm going to scoot here and do a few things, then take my shower and get that over with before the girls get here.

Happy New Year, to all of you and blessings for 2023!!

Happy New Year to all of the Oooos!!!! ♥
You will not believe this but I was awake at midnight.
For real.
However-- it was only because Scott was in my room whisper-yelling "Mooom" which woke up Whisky who woke me up. I opened my eyes, saw a figure leaving the room, and heard Scott and Cait's voices in the LR. That made me flashback to last Christmas (panic!) until I thought to look at the time. I got out of bed at 11.58, saw the ball drop, kissed Gary, and was back in bed 15 minutes later LOL It was the first time in *years* that I was awake and yes, Scott/Sam, Cait/Tom, me/Gary- all together too. It's a good sign, right?

I don't do any resolutions but I did sign up for January Cure to help me organize the house a little perhaps. *fingers crossed*
If I had to pick a resolution, I would love to start doing yoga again. Maybe I should print out a habit tracker and see how I do.
Do any of you know where to get a free tracker?
One thing for sure is that I have to stick with my to-do list. Maybe I can incorporate the two.

Have a wonderful day and a very happy start to 2023! xoxoxo

@LSlycord How was your dinner? I can't wait to hear about the creme brulee. I love that but never made it at home. Do you have one of those food flame throwers? We don't but I *guarantee* that if I ever said I might like one, I have two guys here that would jump on the chance to get me one. And then proceed to light all of their food on fire Bwuahahah
I hope that you figure out what is best to do with your photos. One on hand I get that your kids aren't interested -ATM, at least. OTOH, I wish that I had better records of the photos I have of my parents' families. I bet that your family wil want and appreciate the work you are doing in time.

@BrightEyes You are truly an inspiration for how to turn grief into something meaningful and beautiful ♥
I hope that the snow passes you by, any flakes out yet?
Congrats on the new car!!! Fantastic news!

@vickyday what a *fun* picture of you and your girls!
Toby is so very cute, look at his little hat! I didn't get any pics of this last night, hopefully, Caitlyn did- but she bought PJs for Jaida. She looked ridiculous but cute.
I can't get over how fast the cabin is going up, esp considering how Mark is milling his own wood.

@bcgal00 I bet your family is very happy to close the door on 2022, wishing all of you a much easier 2023.
Any luck on seeing the beavers?

Good morning on this first day of 2023! It's 63* and foggy here, heading to 78*. So what is the question of the day? Will we cave and turn on the air conditioning? Probably---LOL! Of course, Sydney is still here and she is a bit of a strict task master so we will have to see. We are supposed to get up into the 80's later this week.

Our New Year's Eve meal was a bomb! Went to the store and the smallest beef tenderloin they had was $105 and 6 pounds. No way was I going to spend $105 for a piece of meat that was way more than what I needed. So when one plan fails, you head to Costco and get lots of snack items that were prepared. Which left me time to organize more of my boxes. I found the old photos that I had wondered about where they were. And some of those old photos led me down the genealogy rabbit hole...and I found some very interesting information. So that made it all worthwhile.

Found out that my cousin's daughter and her son aren't coming this week after all. I was looking forward to having that to transition back to my time without Sydney. We really have had the most wonderful time. Shaun is working again today but he will be off tomorrow and Tuesday then he is back to school. I think we will head to Savannah tomorrow.

I did a bit of my Cheery-O updates and have done the rest today. I'm ready to begin a fresh, new year!

Fell asleep around 9 PM but woke up at 11:58 PM ... and waited to see the clock say 12:01 AM. Nodded back off and woke up at 5:30 this morning. I did hear a few 'bangs' of firecrackers going off at midnight. :) First time in years that I was awake as the New Year arrived... I remember mumbling "Happy New Year" to myself.

I looked at Bill's album last evening and I am way behind on printing out LOs for it. The last one in the album was his July Birthday LO!!! Decided to wait until later on this week to locate and print the July - Dec ones out. I need to move the printer from up on the top shelf of the desk down to the desktop area to make it easier to do the photo scanning. So may get it moved before printing out his pages. With the printer up on the top shelf, I have to stand on tip-toes to see a photo on scanning bed and load paper.

Been busy with CT duties since I got on the computer this morning. Got my Tic Tac Toe challenge LO in the gallery. Hope a bunch of you come and play in it this month. Closed out last month's stuff and took a look at Jan's fun challenges. Oh, boy... there are some great ones for Jan!! My creative juices are flowing.

No snow yet... the storm should be arriving sometime today. It will start as rain then change over to snow. My DD#2 in MO posted on FB this morning that her hubby saw a bobcat trying to get into their garage!!! YIKES!!! Guess it knows the storm is heading their way, too.

Very cute picture @faerywings . And I bet you looked just like that in your 15 minutes of celebrating. I think that it is a very good sign that you and Gary, Cait and Tom and Scott and Sam were all together to ring in this year! Pretty amazing what a difference a year makes! I do have one of those food flame throwers but only Syd uses it. She always carmelizes the top of the creme brulee for me.

@BrightEyes I can just see you zipping around in that cute red car! Good job by you on getting that accomplished! Glad that you don't have any snow yet...the longer that it isn't there, the better! Your CT work is amazing to me! I haven't checked the monthly challenges yet but I am anxious to go see them!

@Cherylndesigns I am in LOVE with your new avatar. I must get my siggie and my avi both fixed today. I always need to go read how to do that. I need to print it out and make it easy on myself! Can't wait to see all of your pictures and hear all about the party last night. And I'm sure that Chuck was very happy at home while you were all out celebrating.

@bcgal00 I hope that you were able to find the beavers yesterday! I would love to see photos of that! I love that you do Wordle together at the dinner table. I try to do mine first thing in the morning...but sometimes I get stuck and just need to walk away.

@vickyday glad that you got a chance for an early photo op at your daughters. It sounds like you all had such a good time!

@tanteva where are you? Wishing you and Urban a good 2023!

Happy 2023 everyone. We stayed up until midnight but Jen went to bed after a movie together, around 10:30. She was ready to just let go of 2022 and move into the new year. She is hoping to get into the lab tech course this year and get a job that provides better pay and benefits. I think she is ready. We watched Don't Worry Darling which was weird and J and D didn't like it, I thought it was ok. Then D and I watched the latest Thor movie which was lighthearted and great action so that kept us awake until midnight. There were two fireworks displays. I didn't get great pics with my camera phone but good enough to scrap with and journal about. I am heading out soon for a walk through the park and if I'm lucky I'll see a woodpecker or flicker. The birds are scarce here at this time of year, not much until April/May, around 40 species (I sure haven't seen that many) and Vancouver has over 150 winter species so much quieter out here in the winter. But, I do manage to find hawks and eagles which is fun to photograph.

Turkey dinner was good. D will have leftovers tonight and I'll have toasted keto bread turkey sandwich with a salad. Jen and I will take the tree down this afternoon after I get back from my walk.

I didn't get to see the beavers. The head security guy escorted me off the property, telling me that I wasn't allowed there. Apparently, the woman who gave us permission the day before works for one area of the indian reserve and she didn't didn't have authority to give us permission to be there. He was quite rude about it, as I tried to explain that I wasn't trying to trespass, I thought I had received authorization to be there. So no pics were taken there.

@faerywings I can't believe you were awake at midnight (or me, for that matter LOL). I didn't think I'd make it.

@LSlycord Sorry that your dinner plans were changed but Costco appies was a good backup plan and the bonus was that you got to organize photos. I need to do that this year. I have a huge bin of photos that need to be scanned and scrapped with.

@BrightEyes I'll go check out your challenge.

I'm going to get dressed, grab my camera and head out for a photo walk at the park. HAGD everyone.

@LSlycord I won't be zipping around in the new red car until Feb... but I am excited about finally making the decision to buy it. And I discovered 2 more LOs that had to be uploaded - Karen's Schulz's UIA mini and 1 at another forum. So the New Year is off to a good start. WOW... that was an outrageous price for the meat... no wonder you passed it up. Snacks and goodies were a much better bet.

I fixed Mac and cheese for dinner last night. I spice up the Velveeta cheese and shell macaroni with chopped onions and sliced whatever brat I happen to have. It is one of my favorite comfort meals. Of course, I had to have a couple of pieces of chocolate for dessert. Made enough that I will have it again tonight.

@Cherylndesigns we are all dying to see the photos from the NYE party. It is good that Chuck stayed home since he doesn't do LATE NIGHT events. Oh, I do love your new avatar!

@bcgal00 Yikes, that guy sounds mean when he wouldn't listen to your explanation of why you were where you were. Glad Jen spent part of the evening with you and DH. The turkey dinner sounds delish.... makes me want to get another turkey/dressing/gravy out of the freezer. Or... if it does snow here may want to dig out turkey and dumplings stew! :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Last night was a blast! There ended up being 10 of us that ate dinner together, then two more joined us - the owner and one of his friends. We had a big, crazy table. All of us were in costume and lots of men had on tuxedos - and me. I got lots of comments on my outfit - all good. I had so much fun wearing that - I'd wanted to dress like that forever and just had never done it. Some of the guys said I looked like a bad*** and I got a few gangster comments. LOL

I'll be back for personals, but I'm going to give you one peek at the pictures - probably my favorite one. Ava took it right before we left. I was leaning up against a wall, waiting and she said, "Cici, don't move!" I promise I'll post more pics - I'm editing them - most of them were too dark for my taste. It was dark in there, but they can be edited.

I have to go finish up my CT stuff - I almost got it ready last night while I was waiting on the gang to come pick me up. I took the selfie (my new avi) while I was waiting, too. My hair and makeup looked like a professional had done it. She's very talented. OK, here's my teaser. LOL - my bowtie was crooked, but I can't fix that now.
