Will I ever figure out how to have a stress-free life? I am working on letting things go, but man, I am turning into my mom, worrying about so much.
I am really worried about my brother (more on that in a bit) but this morning, my dog doesn't want to walk. She went outside to pee, then laid down on the grass. She finally walked back inside, very slowly but not limping, and then laid down by the door. took a few steps, did that again. And again. Did not want to get up for her treat. I tried feeling her legs to see if there was a spot where she would not let me near, she didn't move, didn't make a sound.
I am hoping that maybe she just slept funny... Can that happen with dogs? She is laying back down now and I'll have to see how she does, and if I need to get her into the vet today. Has to be before noon or I will have to take her to the ER-Vet which is *very* expensive.

*fingers crossed that she feels better!!!*

And yes, I am worried about my brother too. I texted him yesterday morning- just a quick, hey, how ya doing? He texts me back-- Good and you? I say fine, and ask if he is at work. He replies Yeah. Are you ok? I say back, All good here, just saying hi.

I figured that maybe *somehow* he didn't hear the news about his friend's parents.:noidea:
A few minutes later, I get another text-- Did you hear about John's mom?
I text back, yeah, that is actually why I texted you, to see how you were doing. He says he is fine, which prompts me to check in with my SIL.
He is absolutely *not* fine, but doesn't want to talk to me about it, because I "have too much on my plate." She knows how I feel about that stuff, and we both can't figure out why he is so stubborn. I am NOT fragile!!!!

This friend group has known each other since they were little kids. And they are intertwined, friendships and marriages alike. There is no objective party that he can talk to. I know them all, but I am outside of it. And he has to be a stubborn Italian male who is all strong and keeps everything inside until :boom:

I spoke to my mom yesterday and she is going to be seeing him today. She is going to pass along the msg that if he needs to talk, I am fine and would rather be able to help him that to see him struggle.

So that was my day yesterday.

Today- my mom is coming up to bring Scott his favorite guitar that he had to leave in PA cuz there was not any room left in my car when we left. Then... I have no clue! Its so nice, but I really want to do some scrapping. Maybe I can try to scrap outside? Its always so hard to see the screen, especially since the laptop is pretty old and cait scratched the screen up a lot.

But the good thing is that the sun is shining and I have a wonderful group of family and friends. Can't ask for more than that. (I could ask for some $$, that would be nice and then I wouldn't have to worry about how I will have to pay the vet!)

Oh Nancy-- I am so so sorry to hear about your Aunt. That is horrible and sad news. I am happy that you were able to get such a nice visit with her last month. It all happened so fast:(
Congrats on your DS's closing!!

Jean- the birds are now fighting over the little cap on the fountain and knock it off of the stand. hahah!! Gary had to fish it out of the pond and put it back on, let's see how long that lasts.
Hope that you have a great time today with your genealogy talk.

Hugs to all of you!!

I have a lot of reading to catch up on. It's been a very busy couple of days.

BUT...we are off to the puppy breeder to see how I do with Cotons! I'll pop back in later!

Hi had a wonderful day got a lot accomplished. My sister and I were just not sure about being able to make it to the funeral but we both woke up this morning knowing that we had to go. I made reservations for us both and got the car so we are all set but now have to get set emotionally. I hope they are planning on doing a celebration of her life and not some sad occasion. And since I am terrible at DIY home improvements I was in charge of lunch. It was fun going over to see how they were doing and they are really getting a lot done - carpet pulled up and wallpaper off. Then my youngest son and I headed up to Hawthorne to a Charity softball game with Don La Greca and Ken Daneyko. It was so fun to meet them after the game and I got my photo taken with them both. We sat with one of Zach's co workers. It was a fun game final score was 20-19. Ken Daneyko hit a grand slam and that was exciting. My son was complaining that it was going to be too hot and in the sun. But it turned out to be a exceptionally nice day and not one complaint! We had a terrific time! So after tomorrow I will be gone until late Wednesday.

Chris that is such sad news about your brother's friend mother. Hope you day goes well!

Sara hope the puppy shopping went well!

Have a great day all!

Happy Sunday to all of you! How are you doing?
Again, I had just another kooky day that got away from me. Maybe today will be a bit easier?

It seems that Ray's stiffness must have been sleeping wrong. She is still not getting around all that good but doesn't seem to be having trouble with her legs, but maybe her hip. She did start walking, albeit slowly, so we are just doing a wait and see right now.

As for my brother and his friends, OMG what a mess. :(
It is all over the news/internet. Speculation and rumors. The mom was friends and colleagues with Governor Christie and people are being obnoxious and saying it was a "mob hit" by him. Now everyone probably knows that I have absolutely no love for Christie, but really??? Just rude and ignorant.
I was able to talk to my brother for quite a while yesterday and I think I helped talk him down a bit. He and my SIL have very different approaches to stress. He becomes very OCD and detail oriented (family trait *wink*) and she withdraws. Neither can understand why the other is acting so differently. My brother is already worrying about flowers, when the family has no idea even about arrangements. No matter what they do, it is gonna be one heck of a media circus.:(
He is supposed to check in with me today.

On a "good" note, when I spoke to my parents on Friday, I told my mom that I had initially clicked on the article to make sure it wasn't them and I think that made them both realize how much their bickering affected me and the kids. My mom was coming up to bring Scott his guitar that we had to leave in PA and I was very surprised to see she brought my dad. And they were getting along!! We had a nicer time with them in that one hour they were up here then we did the entire weekend in PA.
When she called me last night, she said my dad even offered to take her out for ice cream! It's a start, right? :)

So today-- totally not sure what I am doing. I have a bunch of free books and a canvas from Shutterfly, so I am making a book for Leah's birthday of pics of her and Scott over the last 2 years. Got one down, 19 more to go LOL
It is also so nice outside. Lake? Yard work? Don't know!!!!

How about all of you?

Sara!!!!!!!!! ooooh you have to tell us how the puppy breeder visit went!!!

Nancy, I am so glad that you and your sister are going back out to your Aunt's funeral. I would imagine that you would regret it if you didn't. Safe travels to you.
Are you photographing the house projects as they get done? My kids look at pictures of our house from when we first bought it and OMG- it was hideous! and they get such a kick out of seeing the changes over the years.
Very cool to get to see that softball game and that the weather was nice.
It is getting so cold here at night. Cait and her friends had a big camp-out in the backyard of one friend and I warned her to wear warm clothes. I woke up in the middle of the night and I was frozen and had to pull all of the blankets and comforter up and I was still cold!

Hugs to all of you

First of all - some random thoughts from the last several days.

Chris - I am utterly horrible at playing MarioKart when we have all three of us playing and the screen is split into four. But if I race by myself with the big screen, I'm fine! Blame old eyes I guess. LOL

Sabine - That's way more gardening work than I would do! I hate gardening and landscaping. I wish I liked it, but I hate doing it!

Oh! Nancy and Jean - As Ben and I were driving in the country yesterday, we had a red-headed woodpecker land on the road in front of us. I don't think Ben had ever really seen one. It was kinda cool.

Nancy - I'm so sorry about your aunt. Lots of love your way dear.

Chris - Oh my. What a mess with that situation! That is so stressful for everyone. I am glad that your mom and dad were better. Hopefully, they keep it up.

Sooooo....on to my last several days.

Tuesday, we played mini-golf, went to the pizza/arcade place, and ran through the sprinklers. It was a good old time. It was back to school on Wednesday, Thurs, and Fri. Just teachers. I was really busy. Thursday was Open House night for both Ben and me. I got home late and tired. Friday after school, we all went out to my friend's house. It is really beautiful out there. She has this big wrap around porch, that wraps all the way around, becomes the deck, then wraps around the other side. Most of the deck is covered and she has great seating and an old stove in the corner for a fire pit. She lives in the country, so it overlooks a wooded area. It was so relaxing and so many people came (even our principal!). It was wonderful.

Yesterday, puppy shopping...more on that in a minute. Then grocery store, then a little downtime, then we went to a friends for dinner. We haven't been to that friend's house in a while and had some other friends there that we hadn't seen in a while. We had a good time and stayed out too late. :)

Now...the big news.

This little doll is coming home with us in September!!!!!! I did really well out with the Cotons. Well enough that I think things will be fine at home. I got a little bit itchy under the neck about an hour and a half later at the grocery store. But I purposely hadn't even washed my hands to see how things would go. My eyes didn't get red and itchy and they are the first things to go usually! I didn't sneeze. I wasn't breathing funny. I think I will be able to live successfully with this one! :) Ben is so happy and I'm so happy for him. We haven't come up with a new name yet. (Right now, she is called Jara. They name the puppies with the same starting letter as the mom - this one's mom is Josie.)

So that's our big news! Today is a low key day of cleaning and relaxing. I believe the laundry will get folded, lunches planned, and toys sorted. It's raining again, so it will be a nice day to be productive inside. :)

I'll try to do better this week on checking in! Have a good one ladies!

Oh, Sara, she is the cutest little doll! What good news that it went well.

I did my talk yesterday and it seemed to be very helpful to the group members. It was a beautiful day. Then I caught up on things I'd been putting off.

Hope it's a great day for everyone.
