Hello and good morning!
Do any of you have plans for the long weekend?

I hope to:
-do yardwork
-drink wine
-and read on the sofa

I spoke to both of my parents yesterday and they seemed in good spirits. I have all of my fingers and toes crossed that it lasts. If not, I have wine and headphones. :lalala: :wine4: :drunk:

I got some of the HS artwork/projects done and took photos for the registration.
Fall1 2025 s1 copy.jpg
I'll eventually make another one focused more on the topics (mushrooms and moss, foraging, Bird migration etc) rather than the art.

I started to pack and then gave up. I'll do a rush job before my parents get here this morning. They are bringing bagels and then we'll head out right after. I'm bringing my tablet but I'm not sure how much I'll be checking in. I think I need a break from the internet. :desk3:

Have a wonderful few days! See you on Tuesday for sure!

Praying your time with your parents in PA exceed your expectations! :hug4:
Exceeds them in a *GOOD* way! Bwuhahah!!
TY!

Thanks for the heads-up, Chris...I talked to the pharmacist at Smiths(Kroger) and she said they should be getting the Covid vaccine next week. I want to get my flu shot first... wait a week or so before getting the Covid one. I am in the age/health range that should be getting the vaccine. Will wait and see how it plays out.
I'm glad to hear that! Yeah, from what I am reading, you need to have Drs written prescription in those states. I can't imagine any docs *not* being willing to write one, but it's going to be difficult for people who physically can't get to a doctor (time off work, for ex) or can't afford to. I don't get why they are making it so difficult. :(
Hope you took good care of your shoulder when doing your chores.

Chilly morning! I'm like Chris, can't get warm in the house. Dug out my slippers and a corduroy shirt. The Washington Post has declared "fall has arrived", it's the earliest they've ever done so, but looking at the long term forecast, they don't foresee much chance of getting a 3-day stretch of 90+ degrees again this year.
I looked at my monthly weather forecast and while I know it's not totally accurate, it looks like we are going to be in the 60-70s in Sept. One or two days in the 80s. I pulled out my thicker wool socks and sweatshirts too.
How far are you from MD? I hope that you don't have to travel to get to a vax appt. This is so stupid.
Sometimes I think we-- the world collectively and generally speaking-- memory-holed how awful and scary things were in 2020-21. I forgot about how impossible it was to get appts for the vaccines. Refreshing the website, getting an appointment only to find the slot was gone by the time you tried to register.

On the bright side-- Jimmy Buffett Day is fun!!
:beach1:

@bcgal00 Good selling vibes today at the market! I hope you get some pics of the kids buying and wearing your jewelry!
The trip to Waterton sounds wonderful!

@AK_Tracy Oh man, all that rain and wind! Hope that you didn't lose power.

TTYS!! xoxo

@faerywings Good luck with your parents and hope your trip goes well..Thanks for sharing the page of your creative artwork. I love your foraged brushes and the effect they have. Painting with feathers is fun too. LOL you need a break from the internet. We had several breaks this summer trip...ugh I didn't really like it much.

@bcgal00 good luck with the youth bracelets I bet they will sell good for you.

Well, we are home in Florida now. Yes it's nice. Everyone says I bet you will be glad to be in your own bed but since we have the same mattress in the camper...no difference there. Now we have the same backyard every night!!! Yesterday I unpacked the fridge and freezer. I brought clothes and a few other things out but will go over today with the van to finish unloading then put it all away at the house. The yard is a mess of weeds and the lawn guys didn't mow so it's a mess here, only a few plants died. I did pull a few weeds and the lawn guys will be here today. I did 3 loads of laundry so far. I took all the sheets off windows and furniture. The ducks came to visit so that is wonderful. it's already 78 and will be in the 80's later so want to get out to do some yard work. We went to see our friend who had the open heart surgery- he's doing ok a little frustrated cause he is tired and cannot do anything. Our friends have a party planned at the club this weekend so we will see most of our Florida friends so I'm excited about that.
Our trip stats are:
111 days
13 states all of which we have been to so didn't get to log any new ones
26 campsites
7,038 miles
2,996 photos mine not sure how many Jay took

NOTE: I still like our boat trips better.

Morning, all. I woke up at 5AM and got up. Was expecting an Amazon delivery between 4 to 8AM. It arrived at 6:30AM, So glad I was up and aware when it was delivered. Off to run a couple of errands soon... then will spend time fumigating the master bedroom. Not sure what happened but realized a few days ago that I was being bit by something while sleeping!!! Not sure if it is bedbugs as the bites are much larger than those. Most are the size of a quarter and itch like crazy. Haven't traveled or brought anything new into the bedroom.... Will close off the bedroom and set off a bomb in there and then set traps to see if I can figure out what it is plus spray, etc...etc... etc. :thud: :sad1: :( Then will have DD#3 help me put the mattress encasement cover on. Also got pillow encasement covers. I have been sleeping in the guest room and no new bites. Will continue to sleep in there while I deal with mess!!! Holding off on getting the flu shot until I get all this taken care of... can't afford to get sick and need my bed until then!!

Just finished uploading the last of my Color Play LOs... and I can take a break from scrapping for a few days.

Had a delightful call last evening... DSon#2 called. His work told them that if they have vacation time on the books, they need to take it soon as they have a new contract coming on board and won't be able to take time off once it starts. So.... he will be coming out to visit with DD#1 then to here around the 3rd week of September!!! His wife won't be with him as she can't take time off from her job. Haven seen DS#2 for over 2 years so am jumping for joy that he is going to be able to come.

Gotta run.... BBL

Hope the bombing takes care of whatever critter is in your bedroom! What a nuisance! We brought bed bugs back from vacation about 3 years ago, unbeknownst to us! What a pain!

What a beautiful week we're having. Went out to the free concert at the park with friends last night. Didn't like the music but I guess you get what you pay for :). It was nice to sit with friends and talk, though. The park had two of these this summer, and is thinking about doing them every other week next year. That would be nice. But by late August you really notice the shorter days, don't you?

Do any of you have plans for the long weekend?
I was going to help with the canvass for the governor's election Sunday afternoon, but they didn't get anyone else to sign up so that's canceled. I have a free afternoon I wasn't expecting. Monday evening Labor Day "Workers Over Billionaires" protest. I need a new sign.

Well, we are home in Florida now.
What a lovely, long trip, and getting out of Florida in the worst of the heat. I imagine you were disappointed to find the lawn guy didn't come through! What the heck! We once took a 6 week road trip but David doesn't like to be away from home more than a week or two unless we're visiting the grandkids. Then he might be OK for 3 weeks.

I was being bit by something while sleeping!!!
That happens to me, too, sometimes, in the summer. I had the bug people look for bedbugs and that's not what it is. Maybe I'm getting bitten during the day and it takes a while to show? Maybe some mosquitos have gotten in the house? I don't know. I'll be very interested to hear if your bug bomb strategy works. I never thought of doing that.

I am 3 weeks behind on my Project Life weeks and really must get busy on them. I started a new medication a month ago and it gave me significant fatigue and lack of energy, but that seems to have alleviated this week. So maybe I'll get some done this weekend since I don't feel like I need to take a nap every afternoon.

Good Morning,
Oh what a beautiful couple of days we've had! Lower to no humidity, plenty of sunshine.....we even rode the bike to a church meeting last night! It was WONDERFUL!!!
Mark went to the woods this morning, built a fire, cooked some sausage over the fire and made sausage sandwiches using the canned biscuits I fixed for him.
Working in laundry today.
I got a couple of CP layouts done that I need to upload using Fungus Among Us by CarolW Designs. I had some mushroom pictures I wanted to scrap, plus a bunny photo.
Gonna look at some of the other Color Play kits to scrap the pictures Mark sent to me from the woods.
Have a great day and Holiday Weekend for those of you in the US!

On my travel stats I forgot to say "NO TV" the whole time. There is a TV in the trailer but we never use it. When we travel it's off and stays that way.
Yesterday it was super hot but typical for Florida, I went over to the trailer to get more stuff to bring home, filled the back of my van!!! Food, bathroom supplies, cleaning supplies and of course laundry. Now I have done 6 loads and have to go to laundromat for the bedspread as it's too bulky for my washer. I put most of it away, then went out to tackle some of my weeds. It looked horrible but it was really just a few very large weeds so once they were out it was so much better. Lawn guys came so the lawn looks so much better, they mow every week but missed a week so it was pretty tall. I think we will look for a new team as they have been doing this a few times a year.. I started putting the potted plants back on the patio, patio furniture is in place and the front courtyard has it's furniture out too so it is looking more like home. We chatted with the neighbors trying to catch up. Last night we watched the Katrina special OMG that was really horrible for those poor people...I had no idea how bad it was.
We are having a Labor Day get together at the club this afternoon so I will make German potato salad with Grandma's recipe

@vickyday I'm glad your weather is better. So you talk about Mark going to the woods...what is up with that? I guess I missed what that is.

@Terri M I'm impressed that you are only 3 weeks behind in Project Life. I only managed to finish one year and have started many years I just get behind then stop. Good luck to you.

Hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend.

Debby,
The short version is this.....
Mark grew up where we live now. The woods belonged to the next-door neighbors, which he bought and I finished paying off when we got married. He and the neighbors and friends and family all played in those woods.....paint ball wars, 4-wheel trails, yada yada. Now that we own them, he has returned to the love of his childhood.....but now he is the keeper of the woods! He loves to go down there early in the morning with his dog, build a fire and read. Then he chops wood from fallen trees, or dead trees he has cut down. He has built bin after bin to keep the fire wood in. One day he decided he wanted to build a cabin in the woods. He sold his beloved motorcycle that he rode to work and bought a sawmill. He milled his own wood and began the process. He "broke ground" in 2022 and the rest is history. It has been too hot this summer for him to be able to spend much time in the woods, but he went down yesterday and cut brush and cleaned up.
We have our family gatherings in the woods when the weather cooperates. The kids ride 4-wheelers, side-by-sides and even dirt bikes and jeeps, LOL, on the trails! Before the cabin began, we had a shelter set up with a couple of fire pits....one open and one in a barrel. Your question has inspired me to do a "Progress" spread! We are getting ready to leave for church, but I will work on finding some pictures to share with you at some point! Here's one.....the "ground-breaking" for the cabin. The poles are from trees he cut and stripped and coated with oil for protection. He's a real man's man, LOL!

Good morning ladies. I am home today but have the day filled with chores, dog walking, grocery shopping and getting some scrapping done. The market yesterday was not as good as I was expecting but then we all agreed that b/c it was the last long wkend before summer ends and the weather was hot and sunny, that probably a lot of people went away, went camping or just got outdoors to enjoy the beautiful weather. I expect my next market on Saturday should be busier. Then I get a break for a few months until Xmas markets start. Looking forward to the break.

I am making spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. D can have pasta and I'll have shirataki noodles.

Started watching The Hunting Party last night and we're enjoying it. Good cast.

I'm going to go scrap a page now, my digi time has been sorely lacking this summer.

What a challenge the last two days have been!!! I decided I really needed to get busy in the master bedroom... so spent a few hours in there vacuuming and dusting everything I could reach (including windowsills, baseboards, etc) and especially the mattress and the adjustable frame (couldn't reach it all due to the HEAVY mattress on it but), Bagged up the vacuum as I will need to use it again in a day or two. Put a bug trap by the leg of the bed in late afternoon. surprise... NOTHING WAS IN IT THIS MORNING just checked again a few minutes ago and nothing still!!! And I got another bite yesterday - think it was from working around doing the cleaning.

This morning I decided to get ready to use the fogger since there wasn't any bugs in the trap... Well... after opening the box (of 3 cans of foggers) I sat down and read the directions again for the 4th-5th time and realized that it was more than a step way above my head. {Wear protective gear including protective breathing apparatus, plus clothes, gloves, eye protection... etc... and turn off all electrical appliances (fridge, A/C, water heater, automatic timers & lights as they may cause a spark and a fire), and vacate house for at least 2 hours. NOPE.... not doing that!!!

Decided to use the Harris bed bug kit instead... Well... I sprayed the mattress top and sides and most of the adjustable bed frame with the foam. I did manage to twist the mattress semi-crosswise and move it over halfway off the frame then back on and did the same on the other side Decided to let that be it for today and see if any bugs end up the trap. Beginning to think that I may need to talk to a professional... <<< sigh >>> Needless to say, I am frustrated and worn out.

And with all that going on, I did not get my laundry sorted nor done. I did decide to wash and dry (on high heat) the sheets/pillowcases from the guest bed. Also put the pillows from that bed in the dryer on high heat for 20 minutes. Did the same to comforter from that room... just in case.

I am going to get some supper and then spend the rest of evening reading in the recliner.
