It is so cold!!
Seriously- the temps dropped and I can't seem to get warm. Yesterday, the sun didn't come out until dinnertime but it wasn't rainy. I drove to BFFs and we huddled in our sweats while we caught up with each other. We hope to get at least one more pool day in before the summer is over cuz no way we were going in when it was only 70*
I packed my bathing suit just in case it warmed up. As I walked to my car, it was much colder outside than it was inside my house and I went back to grab a pair of long sweatpants. I was LMBO that I had both extra pants and a bathing suit and shorts in my bag. Who can predict anything at this point, right?
On my way home, I was going to stop at the Dollar Store to look for decorations for the Cabin. It's about a half hour from my house and I can either stay on the highway and drive past it or I can get off a few miles before and take some of the backroads to get into my town. I decided to get off the highway early- people were driving so dang stupidly, much more than usual, and I wanted to be far away from it all. There is an interchange near BFFs where three main highways connect, Rts 80/46/ and 23. It is difficult to navigate, and there is always at least one car that cuts another off to get into the correct lane before it splits off to a different highway and direction.
I don't know what was going on yesterday because it was utter madness getting through it. People were in the wrong lane and shot across several lanes, while others were actually on the wrong exit ramp and swung back out. No one was merging or letting anyone in. Just random cars going everywhere. Amazing time that no one got hit (at least as I was driving through). At that point, I still wanted to go to the dollar store-- I mean, I would be *right there* -- but people were still driving without rhyme or reason. If they had their eyes closed, they might have done better! I decided it was in my, and my car's, best interest to get off the highway as soon as possible. You know what that meant, though. As soon as I got onto the single lane country road, I was stuck behind a pickup going about 5 MPH under the speed limit the entire time. You know what? That was F.I.N.E. - FINE!!!!
:rotfl:

NJ drivers had a terrible reputation and yesterday was a shining example. :rolleyes1:

Scott came for dinner last night and we played a game called Business Walrus. It's like Shark Tank in a way. We get cards that tell us what we have to include in our product pitch and we take turns pitching it to the Business Walrus, who asks us questions about the product we made up. One of my cards was "Must Include a Toy Inside," and the topic was to create an innovative hair product. So I "invented" hair extensions that included a toy inside each braid. Then we had to make a graph or chart to "sell" it to the Walrus (Gary was the Walrus that turn). My kids are so good at coming up with ideas and answering the questions about them on the fly.
It had been a long time since we had a family game night. ♥

Plans for today-- not a clue. It's gorgeous outside, chilly but sunny, and I'd love to get some Dirt Therapy in. My house is also pretty messy in places, with no AC needed, it is a good day to vacuum.

Have a fantastic day and weekend!

Weird that you haven't received a shipping notice yet?
I never got an actual shipping notice but it came while I was at BFFs! Gary set it up for me and I saw it the second I pulled into the driveway. Already got a ton of mourning doves hogging it. blerg.
Gary makes bacon in the oven too. I think I'll try that next time, much less mess than on the stove. oooh, maybe tonight-- we are doing b-fast for dinner :D
Exciting plans no but all over the AJ challenge yep you know me!!! I do have to meet a friend for lunch and go over some business stuff and its Friday so hopefully I can get the AJ done this afternoon. I feel like a kid on Christmas Day when the new thread drops.
You are too funny! Hope you like this month's topic!
@faerywings I had to read your note twice "sit by her pool today" whoot, whoot you are going to take a break!!! I hope the weather gods are happy so it is a nice day for you.
They weren't too happy but it was wonderful to sit and chat with BFF. And her dog. I can't forget Georgia, the muppet dog. :D
Hope that the rain is long past. I wonder if it was the same system that passed through here, since it was moving northeast.
Today Reed and I played 4 games of dominoes...he won the most. Granddaughter Kirsten came up here so we did a few things with Reed. It started with baking soda and vinegar to make a volcano bottle, not perfect but fun. Then we used some tea bags to make flying tea bags...fun. But the most fun was digging through a pile of old rotted trees that were here when Mike bought the property 13 years ago. @faerywings we were looking for salamanders but only found slugs, centipedes, worms and a few other bugs I think you would have loved it.
All of this sounds wonderful-- yup, I would have loved flipping logs with you guys!
I made exploding snowmen with the HS kids but you can adapt it to anything- baking soda in a ziploc, add vinegar, seal the ziploc, and watch it explode.
The kids thought it was so cool to make a mess. :)

I guess I should get motivated to do something today....

HAGD!!

Seems we may have the weather you had yesterday but with rain. Mark and I are sitting on the deck this morning. The temperature is 69, low humidity and a breeze is blowing. I actually have a house coat on to ward off the chill! Quite the opposite of yesterday!

I love breakfast for dinner!
Glad you got to bird feeder pole! Still can't believe you didn't get some sort of notification that it was shipped!

Good morning,
What a change in weather we're having! Cool temp of 69 with lower humidity and a breeze and no sun. We got quite the thunder storm last night and the temperature dropped 20 degrees! I'll take it!
No plans other than laundry and scrapping. Mark is working on chicken and dumplings. He has a friend coming over later today and wants to have it ready to eat when he gets here.
Hope you have a great day and a great weekend!

Good Morning.
Yesterday was so fun and hot! Well, okay maybe just warm. Took the grands swimming in the lake and had a blast. Sun was shining, water was cold, Laughter and smiles all around. Then about 7p the clouds came up, temps dropped, wind started and not its cold and rainy. Was sleeping just fine until the moose and twins (this years twins) came running down the drive and the dogs heard. Then they had to low woof for 30 minutes! Not sure what spooked the moose but they were close together and trotting fast down the drive. We all overslept (10 whole minutes) but it means that I am waiting on coffee :floorlaugh: After swimming and disrupted sleep, waiting for the coffee to finish feels like torture. Not much planned for today. Its raining which is good since we decided yesterday was hot and we would do pizza today. I won't mind so much having the oven on 550° for an hour. Oooohhhh coffees done. Off to get a cup. Have a wonderful day!

Good morning ladies. Enjoyed my 2 day birding trip but it was too hot for me (and for the birds). Early morning was the best each day for photos. We tried golden hour for birding but b/c it was still so hot, the birds held off until almost dark and we got eaten alive by mosquitos. One actually gave me almost a dime sized bruise. They were monstruously huge. We went to the casino in the evening, it was next door to our hotel (lost my money but had fun). We scouted parks and locations for spring/fall birding spots. Glad to be home and today the heat wave has lessened so it's more comfortable.

I'm off to go shopping in a bit with Jen and then later an after dinner walk with Remi. Better get some laundry and chores done too today.

@faerywings That traffic sounds crazy, worse than here.

@AK_Tracy I love to hear about the wildlife around you.

I need to shower and get out of here.

Wow... it has been quite a couple of days. Thursday we had a monsoon storm hit around 8PM.... the rain drops sounded like huge hailstones hitting every window and door in the house .... all at the same time. No hail but the rain drops were huge. We were under a flood warning and had over 2" - 3" fell in less than 30 minutes. The water was flooding the street - over the curbs and rushing down the hill to the west. Thank goodness it never made it over the sidewalks and my house is near the top of hill so all the water was rushing down the street. Lots of thunder/lightening most of the night. Woke up Friday morning to lots of dirt/sand coving out street. We did make it over to the Book sale at the library Friday morning. I scored big time... got "Hidden Nature" by Nora Roberts... her latest release June 2025 and used my free book voucher for it!!! Also got several DVDs and so did DD#1. Also scored at the FOLL Used book/DVD store - DD got 8 of Heather Graham's Krewe of Hunters books and I got a few more DVDs.

Just got notice... we are back under a storm/flood watch! YIKES... DD just went over to her son's house to spend the next 2 nights there. Big huge black clouds moving in so best get off the computer. :wow2::hiding2:

@faerywings your drive sounds stressful but you made it home safely so that is good news. So sad your weather was not good...darn those weather gods. But any visit with a friend is good even if its different than planned.

@AK_Tracy You certainly have the wildlife there . We saw momma bear and twins cross Mikes property the other day and last year they raided his corn so I have been putting out my trail cam to see what is out there at night nothing last night...no bear, not even a raccoon. Do you have a trail cam to view what comes around at night? It's fun.

We are still at Mike's but they are in NY working on the new house .Yesterday I fed their animals then scraped and painted their front door. It's amazing what a fresh coat of paint does. I picked beans, summer squash and cucumbers. I made lunch. I prepped the sweet potatoes, made a cucumber salad. Did the nightly chores, took a quick shower then our friends came over for dinner. Jay grilled steaks but they were not the greatest. We had a nice chat with them catching up more since we went to a restaurant last time we saw them so our time was limited. We figured we have known the 44 years so some of the conversation was about past times together..aka the good ole days.
I need to feed the animals soon but I need Jay to bring a new feed bag of sheep food down for me. Later we are going to take the trailer down to Mikes shop to empty holding tanks then back here we will set up in a different location so the bounce house and waterslide can be put in this location. I am hoping to have some me time today because I want to go around here to take some pics of the animals and flowers.

@bcgal00 your pics of FB are amazing looks like you know right were to go to see many different birds. Thanks for sharing them.

Enough chatter here I need to go feed the sheep/goats they are screaming for me

Good morning and happy Sunday! It is another cold morning in NJ but the sun is bright in the sky. It should warm up nicely this afternoon.
I mentioned that yesterday was a good day to vacuum with no AC needed, so that is what I did. I opted out of dusting the LR/DR but the floors are clean and the kitchen/baths are mopped. Yesterday's Dirt Therapy was focused on removing the dead leaves from the side garden against the house. I did that after I pruned back the plants that were overgrown. It's the weirdest yard work schedule ever. I am doing early spring and mid-summer work at the same time. Why didn't I do early spring tasks in the early spring? Oh, Yeah. Broken Foot. :giggle4:
I'll have last year's leaves finished just in time for this season's to fall. (Maybe)

My To Do list is pretty big today. I already started on my grocery order for this week and only had a few heart attacks as I watched the total price go up, up, up. I am :lalala: that I am "just starting" the order and have already hit my budget cap. All I can say is how grateful I am not buying beef. Tofu is much, much cheaper than that.

My other main project is to write my script for the Forest Bathing Program. I am co-leading the next session, which is on the 10th. I know that I will end up forgetting 95% of what I write, but if I have something already set in my head, I hope that I'll do better at staying on track. If I can finish that today, I might head over to the trail right near my house (or at Weis, see how I am feeling) tomorrow and do a run through.

Caitlyn is going to help me with dinner tonight. I am making the vegan Swedish meatballs again and that recipe took a long time to cook. But soooo worth it!

Sending everyone a big hug today! xoxo

I love breakfast for dinner!
Glad you got to bird feeder pole! Still can't believe you didn't get some sort of notification that it was shipped!
Me too, Gary made omelets, Cait made pancakes, and I threw Trader Joe's Hash Browns in the oven. Delicious group effort. ;)
I did get a WBU email with a coupon code for my next purchase, so I am getting some emails from them. We spent way too much time staring out of the window at the birds yesterday, I really missed them!
Hope the weather stays nice for you too!
Yesterday was so fun and hot! Well, okay maybe just warm. Took the grands swimming in the lake and had a blast. Sun was shining, water was cold, Laughter and smiles all around.
What a fab day with the kiddos!
Waiting for the coffee to finish, regardless of how well you slept, is torture bwuahhaha! I hope that you slept better last night and that the coffee was ready when you woke up!

That's disappointing that the heat made it difficult to see many birds. I imagine that Spring or Fall will be better weather and maybe more variety too? How far away were you?
Mosquito bites are horrible. If they are very itchy, I use apple cider vinegar for that. Although I haven't had many bites this year. (shhhhh, Faery, you will jinx yourself again!)

Oh my goodness, I am very relieved that you didn't get flooded!
You and DD#1 got a lot of books and DVDs, have fun reading and watching them.
Be safe in these storms!

@BoatLady I am exhausted reading about al of the things you did the other day, you don't sit still very long, do you?
Dinner and all that fresh food makes me hungry.
I love to paint my house, it really makes everything look fresh again. Maybe in the fall, I'll have time and money to redo my small bathroom. It's been a long time since I did any work on that.

At 5 pm it was only 74 degrees! We had overcast skies all day and rain so Mark's friend didn't come. It was a good day.

Good morning,
Yesterday was overcast all day with rain off and on so the temperature stayed cool all day. At 5pm it was only 74 degrees!
Since it was rainy, Mark's friend didn't come. We played games in between Mark working on his chicken and dumplings and between my loads of laundry. I got all the extra stuff washed and put away besides mine and Mark's regular clothes for the week. I recently changed the curtains in the bedrooms to blackout curtains so I washed the old ones. And my DD recently gave me some clothes she couldn't wear so I washed all but the winter stuff and hung it in my closet. So now I have my laundry baskets clear again.
Didn't get any scrapping done after all. Maybe later today. We are having a church dinner and baptism today so we will be getting home later than usual. Mark and I both feel kinda blah today with headaches and Mark is a bit nauseous too. Not a good combination.
Hope you have a great day.

Morning, all. Glad to hear that many of you are having a break from the hot weather... we will be having temps in the high 90's until late August and lows in the 70's. Means the A/C will be running during the night! Had another storm last evening but not a bad one like the other evening. Still have Monsoon season into September but the rains usually happen late afternoons - evenings.

DD#3 came over yesterday afternoon for a visit. It was so nice to have both daughters here chatting and laughing. If all goes well, DD#1 will be heading home next weekend. She will be at her son's most of this week so I will be getting back into my 'normal' routine soon. I will miss having her here but her family has been missing her a lot.

Yes, @faerywings both DD#1 and have a lot of books to read and I have a lot of DVD movies to watch. I need to get the DVDs added to the DVD inventory some time this week. Will be holding my breath that DH's old Dell laptop will keep working as that is where I have the inventory.... It is a 2007 one running Windows 7 and Works. :wow2:
BTW... love the LO you made for the template challenge. Great photos of the birds at your feeder!

I am off to check on the Challenge and hope to get another LO or 2 done today. HAGD

Good Morning Beautiful Ladies!

@AK_Tracy You certainly have the wildlife there . We do have game cams but usually only set those up during moose season and out in the woods. Most of what we catch and see is on our ring cameras. Wildlife runs up and down our driveway. Its a clear shot to the lake and they think we put the path (drive) in just for them :floorlaugh: And the side of the house, where my bedroom is, they think we cleared out the trees for them to wander down and planted little apple trees just for them to mow down. They are so mistaken. The apple trees are fenced, think tomato plant cages only huge LOL My son is so cute, he plants seeds from apples he eats and its amazing, he gets sprouts and plants them. Some are now hip high. Some that we bought as saplings are 5-6' high.

Waiting for the coffee to finish, regardless of how well you slept, is torture bwuahhaha! I hope that you slept better last night and that the coffee was ready when you woke up!
Sunday coffee is the best!!! Its always on the bathroom counter waiting for me when I step out of the shower. I'm spoiled for sure.

Mark and I both feel kinda blah today with headaches and Mark is a bit nauseous too. Not a good combination.
Hope you have a great day.
Oh no, that sounds awful. Hope it passes and you both feel better soon. I get that feeling if I get over hot. Sounds like you might have gotten over hot with all the laundry you did.

@BrightEyes Kay I hope you stay dry and those storms dont do any damage to your property. I cant imagine what monsoon season is like. We get heavy rains but nothing like a monsoon.

Todays a bright sunny day. They say cool temps of 60° but I dont buy it. They have said that all week long and as soon as I put on jeans it hits 75°. So today is dress shorts. Well, not really shorts but they go to my knees so for me that's shorts. I will be cool.
Dogs are letting me know they need breakfast.
Have a wonderful day!

Good morning ladies. Friends are coming for afternoon card game and another group coming tomorrow for a different game. I'll get Remi out for a walk soon before they come over. Continued watching a few more episodes of Yellowstone 1923 last night. I like the cast.

I need to go look for my recipe for nutella dip for apples and grapes. Almost forgot about that. So....I guess that means I'd better get off the computer.

@BrightEyes Kay I hope you stay dry and those storms dont do any damage to your property. I cant imagine what monsoon season is like. We get heavy rains but nothing like a monsoon.
Tracy, monsoon season here in the southwest US is when rains come usually June 15th through September 30. It is when we get over half of the yearly rainfall (around 5" during the season). Occasionally we get a really heavy cloudburst) like a few days ago (3"+ in less than an hour). The state has been getting more rains than usual this year... but we have been in a drought for several years so glad to get more rains. But due to the bad fires last year - the burn scar areas are having horrible flood problems. My area (Albuquerque/Rio Rancho) didn't have bad fires so more floods occur in road underpasses, arroyos, and low-lying spots. I am up on the west mesa which is higher.

Our Monsoons are not like they have in the tropics. Thank Goodness!!!
