Happy weekend!
I am so tired right now but at the same time, pretty jazzed :)
Too much coffee IMHO.

But I have good news. I found my dress! The dress shop was swanky but the owner was so darn nice and helpful. I tried on a ton of dresses and some of them were just stunning. I had two top choices and they were completely different from each other, then down to one. But I kept going back to the OG blue one I saw at David's Bridals. That was the one that was discontinued but possibly one available in CT. Scott was still insisting that he would drive me to get it if that was the one I wanted. When we got back home, we looked at David's website for that shop's phone number and the dress was available online again! There were only three available in my size and now the pressure was *on!*
Cait and are texting people side by sides, going back and forth, and then we did it! We clicked Add to Bag and Complete Order. Hand over hand, like we used to do things when she was little. ♥
:dancingbfly:
Of course, because nothing I can do can be easy on the brain, I woke up at 2 am in a panic that what if the skirt can't be hemmed to my height? I have 7 days to return the dress so I am going to need to get my butt over to the dress shop around the corner to make sure but after looking closely at the hem again, it should be fine.
I am going to spam, you all with the pictures. Hope you don't mind. Scroll on by if you do ;)

The one on the left is the one I fell in love with yesterday There were lace and mesh sleeves that we didn't like and you can see how Caitlyn erased them on her phone. LOL! It was fun and floofy and blingy. It was also twice as much as the one on the right. Even though my mom told me not to worry about the price, it is a factor.
This is me wearing a dress that was $1000. It was just stunning but $1000, plus alterations? Not happening. SMH
20230818_121937_resize.jpg
This was the #2 runner-up dress. I would have never in a million years tried this one on my own. Ignore my socks. Caitlyn said I looked like Jessica Rabbit in Blue. :giggle4: It really looked amaizing but not "me."
20230818_122724_resize.jpg
It was fun to play dress up and that kept my mind off that Scott and Sam are signing the lease when they get back home. The move-in date will be mid-September. Scott called Caitlyn the other night to tell her directly, he had asked us to wait until he knew for sure. It was also the same day as her house contract fell through and he didn't want to throw salt in the wound. She is happy and sad and so is he. Same as me and Gary.

Today and every day, I am grateful that I have the most incredible family ever

@LSlycord I feel ya, sister! Happy, sad, proud, and a little bit lonely all at the same time. :hug2: I wonder if Jenn @joyfulheartdesigns has a cry/laugh smilie stored up somewhere for us? Is Syd's apartment the one she looked at last year, a little farther from campus? It sounds like a wonderful setup and I'm sending good thoughts for an awesome year!

@vickyday How did you feel after cooking for all of that time, it didn't tire you out too much? I bet that Mark's reaction made it all better if you were. What a sweetheart you got.
Your weather is very similar to there, with low humidity and not hot at all. I was freezing last night and needed to pull the comforter over me. Even W had to snuggle underneath. It feels a lot like fall today. :(
Did you get a picture of the woodpecker?

@Cherylndesigns I wish I could hear Adrienne's windchimes, they must be so relaxing and balancing. How long will Roger stay in FL? The house must be quiet for her with him and Braden both gone.
Hop and pop! :giggle4:

@bcgal00 Oh no, not again! Poor D!! What in the world is causing the fistulas again and again? He must be totally over it.
Tell him that we all hope he is feeling better ASAP :getwell:
You must be tired of all of "it" as well. Sending good vibes for the house showings too. Maybe something will come up and you'll get some prospects. *fingers crossed* It's a hard market all around. :/
Scott and Sam are renting a 2 BR house in a little lake community. They said it is tiny but cute and the monthly rent is lower than anything else that they looked at. It will give them a little extra to save for a house of their own at some point.

@BrightEyes You must have been exhausted from the driving and shopping but the savings on Base are worth it.
Glad that you are keeping a close on the BP as you adjust to the new meds.

:grouphugyay: to you all!!!!

Good morning. I am taking some time to spend in the gallery this morning. Thought about going for sunrise this morning but this weather is simply a killer. It's only 80 at 9:09 but it feels like 100. I am so sick of this weather I could scream.

I'm feeling grumpy this morning...missing Sydney I guess. But I'm going to try to rally here soon. Not a lot planned for the weekend. We are doing a phone call with a modular home guy in Iowa to talk about the process for the lake house in Iowa. And then, I have a massage this afternoon. Just neck, back and shoulders because I've never used these people before. But my body is just killing me and I think all of me would feel better if I didn't hurt so bad.

Enough complaining...I need to do groceries...which really requires a meal plan...hmmm...back to complaining. :gloomy: I really do need to do something to get myself into a better mood. If nothing else, fake it until I make it.

@faerywings you look absolutely adorable in all of those dresses! But is one of them "the" dress or did you not show us that one? Apparently I need more :coffee1: because I'm not quite with it yet! Scott and Sam are renting a house? How fun will that be? So is the next part of the journey furnishing it? Because that is a big journey! Yes, Syd is in the apartment that she looked at last year that is a little further from campus. I'm sure that Cait is a little bit sad about Scott and Sam moving but she knows that hers will happen so she just gets a little more time with you!:hug4:

@vickyday hope you haven't completely worn yourself out. We have a downy woodpecker who is coming to our feeder now. Plus our family of cardinals with a few titmice and wrens sprinkled in. Oh, and the mourning dove who just comes to sit on the feeder. He never eats there but he loves to sit there and irritate all of the other birds. They carry on at him like crazy but he never moves. I'm not real crazy about him but he does create a ruckus without moving a muscle.

@BrightEyes sounds like an exhausting day with all of your shopping but it sure was full of accomplishment. Anxious to know how the new meds work!

@Cherylndesigns I love Corinthian chimes. I would love to have some. I totally get how Adrienne feels...I asked Syd if she needs anything from home this weekend. Because I would totally drive over to see her. But she said that she didn't need anything.:crying1:

@bcgal00 I hope that D is feeling better. And, you only need one person to look at your house if they are the right person. Sending good thoughts and prayers today!

Ok, I'm going to take a shower and start my day. See you all later.

No. I was sitting while cutting everything up, so I was fine. Mark is totally sweet and doesn't expect anything from me. So, of course, that makes it easy for me to do the few things he does request.
No pictures of the woodpecker. It flew in and out without landing when it spied me.

Good morning!
Well, I started the baby blanket yesterday. It is knit diagonally and is super easy so far. You increase one stitch by a yo (yarn over) after the third stitch at the beginning of every row which gives it the border.. Started with 5 stitches and increasing to 220 stitches before beginning the decrease work. The yarn is cream with blue and peach mingled throughout. It's a 50/50 cotton polyester blend and feels great! I found the yarn at a thrift shop earlier in the summer. It will cost about $8 not counting the labor of love ;)
We woke to temps in the 60s today! Mark even built a fire in the woods to do some reading before beginning the work of splitting wood.
I ran Roomba and will probably do some laundry later. Meatloaf and baked potatoes is on the menu for supper. Right now I will be knitting and listening to my Amish audiobook.
Here's the blanket so far with about 80 stitches.

Good morning loves,

I'm kind of tired this am, though I slept really well last night. Adrienne and I went over to Muskogee to TJ Maxx; left about 5 and didn't get home til about 10 again. I found SO many things I liked, but none of them fit me right and the jeans I tried on were too skinny legged for my taste. I had to peel them off. UGH. I did find a jean jacket that I had been looking for a darker wash but they didn't have a Large and the Medium was a big tight through the shoulders. I took a picture of it and uploaded it to Amazon so I'll see what they have on there. It was an odd brand, but I think it was that Democracy brand that I love. It had a different name on the label, but it was with the Democracy stuff and they have a new line now. At first glance, the Amazon app didn't pull Democracy up, so now I'm not sure. I loved the relaxed fit. Then we stopped to eat and then Alyssa asked us to go through Chic Fil A and bring her and her friend food. We had to wait forever - on the weekends, they have kids standing outside to take orders and run credit cards and it's so fast.

She wants to go to AK tonight to have dinner with Braden and I told her I'd ride with her if she does. We were talking to him in the car and he was definitely putting her off - he said he had tentative plans with some friends, and he'd let her know. Linda @LSlycord I know you feel her pain. But, like Chuck said, he's only been gone a few days and he's already having so much fun and probably wants to get it in before classes start. Alyssa told her the same thing. My money is on her going there tonight. :floorlaugh:

Chris @faerywings all of those dresses look fabulous on you! I love the one you picked out though and what a gorgeous color - it looks wonderful on you!! I'm so glad that bridal shop turned out to have nice people working there.

Adrienne's windchimes are so melodic. I tried to upload a video to my YouTube channel, but it's getting so complicated now. Grrrrrr why is everything getting so much more difficult? I used to just upload and boom. I can't believe all the hoops they make you jump through now. I said "forget it". Roger won't be home until next Monday. It's always quiet when he's gone. Yes, it's definitely more quiet here with him and Braden gone.

I missed a lot of posts - from Rae @bcgal00 about D and Vicky @vickyday about you meal prepping for so long.

I need to get into the gallery and do some commenting. Hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning from chilly NJ! It better get hot again because I am too cold in the mornings. Between the temps and the shorter days, I need to get better prepared for Autumn. I did some yard cleanup and weeding in the afternoon and wore capris and a t-shirt and was pretty comfy, not hot at all. For mid-August. It's weird. :/

Other than some yard work and housework, it was just another day. We saw two humming-"blurs" whizzing about the feeder. I wouldn't have been able to tell that they were birds if I hadn't seen one of them at the feeder. It's so crazy how fast they fly. No plans today although I asked Gary if he wanted to go on a hike with the dogs. We haven't done that in weeks.

@LSlycord I wish I could send you our weather. We haven't had the AC on in days. It's just all too strange.
Big hugs to you too. I'm not surprised if the grumpiness is from missing Syd. I hope that the massage helped a lot. I bet you are carrying all of the stress and tension in your neck and shoulders. Be gentle with yourself (and remind me of all of this next month please). I am semi-chuckling that you asked Syd if she needed anything from home already.
PS: :crying1: is gonna be my go-to smilie too...

@vickyday I love the blanket and the border. The yarn sounds perfect too! You are so good to the people around you ♥
The weather is so strange, right? It's been in the 50s here overnight. If I had a fireplace I would have loved to put it on. Of course, Gary would have been :angry4: at me for that if I did. LOL!

@Cherylndesigns I couldn't tell you the last time I was out and about at 10 pm :D
I saw in the other thread that you were successful in ordering the jacket -- it's very cute! What did Adrienen end up doing, did she go out to see Braden? It's a really good sign that he has plans with friends already.
I felt bad that I didn't order my dress at either of the local places but I am really really glad that I ordered it when I did. Caitlyn checked the website yesterday and it was all sold out. Can you imagine if I went to buy it and it was gone again? :thud:

I need to spend some time in the Gallery today too.

Good morning. Not quite so grumpy this morning. Thank goodness!

We did a phone call with one of the modular home reps in Iowa. So much to take into consideration. But it is very interesting...won't be stressful until we start spending the money on it. Which may be a year from now...but who knows with us.
I also got a massage...it had been over a year. I hadn't wanted a massage while everything still hurt from my accident with Andie last year. But I finally decided that I was going to try it and just ask the guy to stay away from the left shoulder which still hurts like crazy. He did such a good job on my neck, shoulders and back...and he asked if he could just do a little bit really gentle to my left shoulder because the muscles were so tight. I said yes and it feels so much better today.

Today I'm going to organize my office. It really needs it. I haven't done much with it since we moved in, Sydney came home from Germany, we finished the construction on the new office and Sydney moved out. I'm grateful for Shaun who is stable!;) Syd starts school Wednesday and Shaun starts a week from tomorrow. I feel like I'm going to blink and they will both be out of school.

And I'm definitely going to get a challenge done for August.

@faerywings I'm so glad that you got the dress ordered! And I wish that you could send me some of your weather too. That would make me happy. Our sunrise is at 6:55 now and that makes me sad. But the chance of having the heat waves diminish (of course, then I will have hurricanes to talk about). I promise I will remind you of the "be gentle with yourself" comment next month...and all of the other months too!

@vickyday it should be good weather for bike rides soon, right? And that baby blanket is beautiful...I love the colors!

Good morning,
Quick in and out. I need to get ready for church.
No laundry done yesterday. Only knitted on the baby blanket. I'm about 25% into it. I'm going to have to switch to circular needles soon to hold the accumulating stitches. I'm at 111 of the 220 needed before the decrease begins.
The weather is beautiful this morning. We are going to ride the bike to church.
Speaking of which, I gotta get off and get ready!

Keeping an eye on Hilary. DS#1 lives in Las Vegas, Nevada. He already had rain and wind yesterday and expected more today. My heart goes out to all who are in the path of Hilary.

Ran a few errands yesterday. Picked up a 'on-hold' book at the library... "Identity" by Nora Roberts plus 3 books by Linda Howard. That should hold me until mid-week. :lol23: Realized when I got home that I forgot to get some milk... Oh, well... have lived without it for a week, so a few more days won't hurt.

@faerywings Wish I could say that the low temps in the morning were as cold as you are having. It is in the high 60's for a low and still in the mid-90's during the day. Love the dress you ordered... and so glad you got it before they sold out!!

@LSlycord Wow... you are moving right along on what you may want for the property in Iowa!!! Glad that Syd is settled into the apartment - sounds like it was much easier than last year's move-in.

@vickyday Glad you are over Covid and back to do normal things. Great that your hubby missed out on getting it.

Good morning lovely OOOOO's.

Greetings from the oven - it's going to be 104 today. My weeds are the only thing loving this heat. Ugh I'm going to have so much to do when it finally cools down that I'll be working like a fiend. There's no way I'm working in this heat.

Chris @faerywings can you send us some of your cool weather, please??? Yes, I ordered a dark wash jean jacket - I couldn't find the exact one that I saw, but I hope I like this one. It will be here tomorrow. It was a little more than 29 dollars, but not a lot - at least it wasn't 78. I have several jean jackets, but they're all light wash and I have a black one and a coral one. I got the black one in one of those clothes box deals (those subscription things) when we still lived in FL. I did find it on Amazon and it was 129 dollars!!! NO WAY. I didn't tell you girls that I found one in Habitat For Humanity resale shops the other day - it's all ripped and distressed which I love and Chuck does not. I picked it up for 12 dollars. I got some really cute jean shorts for 4 dollars at another resale shop - they're high end with the fancy beading on the back pockets. I've never been much on resale stores, but we have some great ones here. The girls love them, and I've started to like the prices. I still won't buy used shoes, though. That's a family joke.

Linda @LSlycord yes, we are very lucky to live "next door" to each other. We love that and love spending time together. Braden "penciled us in" for meeting halfway tonight. :floorlaugh: And I did order a jean jacket and can't wait for it to arrive. Jean jackets are so weird it's hard to find a comfy one. The current style is SO short - comes right to your waist. I like them just a little bit longer and I also like them to be soft and have a little stretch. I DO have a dark wash jacket, but it's really big - I must have been heavier when I got it and the sleeves are too long - I have to roll them up. It's nice that it's big though, because I can wear it over something when the weather gets cooler.

Vicky @vickyday the blanket looks like it's off to a good start.

Kay @BrightEyes sending good thoughts to DS1 that's a big storm.

Hugs to everyone and HAGD. It's Sunday.......Sunday......Sunday.

Love my O Family!
CHEERY O
We enjoyed the ride to church today. It's a good thing we are only 10 minutes away because it was pretty warm as we headed home.
