Is it just me or did this past week fly by? I mean super-duper fast?? When the kids were little, July seemed to go by slowly and August would zoom along. This year, July went really quickly but August is at Ludicrous Speed.
It doesn't help that the stores are all geared up for Autumn and Halloween. Caitlyn and I went to TJ MAXX yesterday to look for more spooky things, she found more Halloween PJs -- little dogs dressed in costumes. It was weird inside seeing everything "pumpkin" and then walk outside and it was 95* and humid.

Between work and shopping with Caitlyn, I didn't get much of anything done. I have my list ready to go for today so I have to get my head straight to do what I have to do.
Too much stuff! [fainting smilie]

I should try to get some of it done before the Air Show starts this afternoon. Gary loves it, he kept running outside to see them fly overhead, but it is too loud for me, hurts my brain

HUGS!!!

@tanteva heh, I know that annoyed feeling too. I harrumph my way around the house. Lots of sighing. *nods* Are you feeling any better today? Hope so! Your dinner sounds delish! How did it come out? I think I am the only one who likes goat cheese here and usually just a smidge on crackers, but the way you did it sounds very tasty.
Ummmmmm.....
You are talking to an Italian who was raised believing that jarred sauce was the Devil's substitute for "gravy." ROFL!! No way could I put ketchup of any brand on spaghetti! haha!

@vickyday if you ever put BBQ sauce on your eggs, let me know what you think :D I do have to be honest, I don't like ketchup on anything, not even burgers when I ate them.
That must be a pain in the butt to wake up with a headache every day. Is it allergies or just one of those things?
That is where were yesterday, 95*, Real Feel has been around 100. Meanwhile, Jaida wants to lie in the driveway and soak up the sun. Crazy dog! And yes, she is black, even Whisky knows better and she is small and brown.

@Cherylndesigns I know how to drop my phone on my toe. Just sayin'... I got talent as well! muahahaha!
The good thing is that you dropped your phone *before* the pedi so you didn't mess up the polish after

No such thing as coincidences-- are you getting ready to get another tattoo?

Better get going and start working on my to-do list xoxo

Morning, all. Didn't get in here yesterday - I made the trek to the base to pick up Rx and then over to the commissary for groceries. The base is back to 'Masks Required' everywhere. I was the 2nd person in line to pickup my meds so that went fast. Not many people at the commissary so it was an easy shopping day. Several things missing from the shelves again so will have to make a run to another store for some of them next week. Was so glad to get home and unload the car. Still need to repackage the ground beef into smaller amounts today before putting them in the freezer. I just stuck them into the fridge yesterday. Then spent the rest of the day recovering from the trip.

Late yesterday I got the idea that maybe the back problem was from the mattress as it does get a slight indentation where the hips rest. I usually rotate the mattress every few months. So to check out if that could be it, I slept in the guest room on the double pillowtop firm mattress last night. NO... that wasn't the answer to the back pain. The back was still just as tight as it was in the mornings after I slept in the Master Bedroom bed. So much for that idea!!!! <<< sigh >>>

Chris, some of the 'new to me' movie DVDs I bought and watched are Apollo 13, Steel Magnolias, Rain Man, Frequency, Back Draft, Cast Away, The Mist of Avalon, The Wind Talkers, Empire of the Sun, Always, Braveheart, Enigma, Premonition, and ET. I also bought Star Wars I, II, and III as I already had IV, V, and VI. One of the workers at the Book Store where I have been buying them told me to bring in a list of DVD movies I would like to have as they have lots of boxes of used DVDs in the back and he would look for the ones I want. What a deal that is!!!

Oh, Cheryl... hope your toe is feeling better. I have been known to drop things on my toe... like a big can of peaches.... several years ago. Ouchy for you. Glad it was before the pedi.

Eva and all, I only put ketchup on my french fries. I used to put some on my hamburgers but switched to mayo for them years ago. No wonder a bottle of ketchup last so long now. LOL

Vicky Day, so sorry about your headaches when you wake up. Hope that they don't last too long and go away when the weather changes. Allergies have been so bad here due to the smoke in the air here. It is a bit better today - there is a light haze on the mountain. If we get more rain that would help.

Hope you all have a good weekend. CYL

Trying the BBQ on the eggs probably will NOT happen, lol, Chris! I use ketchup in my cooking sometimes (baked beans) but hardly ever use it! I love mustard, however!
The headaches may be allergy related at certain times of the year, not sure. I have lots of sinus issues, so I really think the headaches have a lot to do with the weather, too! And it's already 85* here this morning, so it's gonna be another hot one! The humidity is what makes it so awful, I think!
Two of my 4 kids suffer with the same headaches. I feel for them!

Met my old friend today, and it was so wonderful to see her again. Met her boyfriend too for the first time, and he seemed like a really great guy. My friend got widowed in 2020, and it's so nice to see her living and being happy again. To be honest, I just said to Urban that I don't I ever seen her so happy, comfortable and relaxed before. Ever. We said we needed to be better at keeping in touch from now on. It's such a shame that we live so far from eachother.

Oh, I just had a veggie burger. With EVERYTHING on it. This is how I built it: bread at the bottom, then a garlic mayo kinda dressing, raw onion & tomato, then the burger, and on top of that ketchup, mustard and pickled cucumber, and finally top bread. Best burger ever!

Dinner yesterday was magic. Really should go back to the same store today or tomorrow and buy another goat cheese. It was on sale, and I could save it for 2 weeks I think, and make another yummy dinner. Goat cheese combined with honey & walnuts is pure perfection!

And about ketchup on spaghetti ... that's how EVERYONE eat it in Sweden.

Had a genealogy meeting this morning with a really good speaker, but didn't get enough sleep, so I'm a little foggy. Weather is beautiful, sunny and cool enough to please me.

Interesting uses of ketchup. I don't buy any instead using my favorite salsa for anything like eggs, in cooking, etc.

Chris, @faerywings I think not just the week or month have flown by, but maybe all the time since mid-May. Don't know where it all went.

Kay, @BrightEyes so sorry change of mattress didn't work. Still you got a lot done yesterday and with all those DVDs you have lots to enjoy while pampering that bad back.

Vicky @vickyday bummer with the headaches. Hot and humid can make lots of things miserable and if allergies are in play, even worse. Hope today is better.

Eva, @tanteva wonderful you got together with your friend and super that she's happy too. Being far apart makes it hard to really keep up. Even Zoom, etc. is nothing like being together.

Felis @felis hope you don't have work for your job on the weekend, but I know the usual stuff keeps you busy too. Hope you're getting the crocheting done and enjoying it.

Nancy, @nancyr did you watch lots of Olympics? We did and now football is starting, so we'll watch lots of that. The "field of dreams" baseball game was delightful in my opinion, but got panned in our newspaper sports page. Guess you'd rather the Yankees had pulled off the win.

Wishing all a good weekend!

Forgot to mention: me and my friend realized today that we've known eachother for almost 50 years! Mind-boggling ... since we're only 28, I mean ;) We met at (the Swedish equivalent to) Kindergarten at 6 yo, and this fall it's 48 years since we started Kindergarten.

Gee ... I'm so old, it's amazing I'm still alive! ;)

Hello all,

Jean @scrap-genie it's so good to see you here! Glad you had a good geneology meeting and I hear you about not getting enough sleep. If I don't - I'm not very good.

Chris @faerywings I don't go out much, but have been to Walmart this week and fall stuff was everywhere. I picked up some cute little fall decorations for our front porch. Cheap and cute - just the way I like them. LOL Well, it sounds like I have a crazy accident buddy - you. I have the weirdest things happen. BTW my toe is SO sore today that I'm hobbling. It was really hurting by the time I got home yesterday and ouchy when I got up this morning. Yes, at least it didn't mess up my new pedi. LOL

Kay @BrightEyes what a deal on the DVD's!!! I love your movie list - some of them I've not seen and you're making me want to see them. You've got some good ones. Sorry the experiment with the mattress didn't work. That was a great idea, though.

I'm laughing at all the ketchup talk. LOL I have had hot sauce on eggs, and other than the fact that I don't like anything hot, it was okay.

Eva @tanteva I absolutely LOVE Goat Cheese, Mozzarella and Brie. We can buy little "bags" of Mozzarella balls that have 3 little balls in individual packs. Great for snacks. We got some at Walmart the other day.

Vicky @vickyday you might have seasonal allergies. There sure are a lot of weeds right now - they're difficult to keep cut down. Our grandson tries to keep a wide swath of no weeds around our house. We had him take it a little wider last time he mowed. I've even been a little "sniffle-y" and I believe it's the weeds. Of course, we live in the country, so the weeds are part of our lives.

Lila is coming down in a little while. They're going away for the day and evening and I hate to think of her up there in her crate. We got a good laugh earlier - I told Adrienne to send her down and I stood on the front porch and called her. She came flying down and I gave her a treat. We went in the house and I noticed that she needed to go out, so I let her out the back door. She did her business, then ran right back up to their house. I texted Adrienne and told her that Lila was on the back porch. We get such a kick out of these dogs - I know it's confusing now to have us living so close together. Anyway, they're going to drop her off when they get ready to head out. Hahaha

I'm going to try to get another challenge done here. Hope everybody is doing well. Hugs.

Your burger sounded GREAT, except for the ketchup! Pickled cucumber.......as in dill pickles? I LOVE me some dill pickles!

I like goat cheese! The first time I had it was some we got from the Farmer's Market. A lady called the Goat Cheese Lady, I believe, had a spread made with the goat cheese. It was yummy! Goat cheese combined with honey and walnuts sounds yummy, too!

@vickyday This is the kind of cucumber I get. https://www.felix.se/products/skivad-smorgasgurka-370g/ "Bostongurka" is also a very popular kind of pickled cucumber here in Sweden: https://www.felix.se/products/bostongurka-gurkmix-375g/

@Cherylndesigns Cheese is the main reason I'm not a vegan, but a vegetarian. I love my cheese! LOL

@BrightEyes Why choose between ketchup & mayo when you can have both??? LOL

@scrap-genie I don't do Zoom & stuff. Installed Skype to chat with my friends in the beginning of the pandemic, then non of them bothered to do the same. Haven't used Skype at all LOL I still have my account on Faecesbook, but "resting", just so I can use Messenger to keep in touch with people. I hardly use anything else. Snapchat a bit to keep in contact with those who didn't bother to install Skype. I don't even talk on my phone. I guess I use my phone as a phone like once a month or something. I lack all kinds of social skills. And I guess I don't have many friends either LOL

Nope, you live in the country, you live among the weeds. LOL They're actually beautiful, aren't they? This summer, the wild (weed) daisies were SO pretty that I asked my grandson to not mow them down. My son-in-law got after him because he didn't and he said "Cici doesn't want me to". LOL

The first one (by the ingredients) sounds like the ones I make here at home using cucumber, onion, sugar, vinegar and water.
The second one (by the ingredients) sounds like a sweet dill pickle relish.

Well, now you got me googling! In Sweden we have 2 words: "vinäger" and "ättika" which both translates to the English "vinegar". To me vinäger & ättika are tasting somewhat different, so I got a bit confused here. The pickled cucumbers I showed you are made with ättika, not vinäger, and when you said it sounded by the ingredients that it sounds like the one you make with vinegar, I wanted to correct you.

But google & I have come to this conclusion:
Ättika & vinäger is basically the same stuff BUT vinegar is made from wine, and ättika can be made from any kind of alcohol. I guess this is why I prefer ättika ... I hate the taste of wine LOL

@Cherylndesigns From your Friday thread post about wanting 2 tattoos-- I hope that you get them soon! oooh, I am intrigued about what Ava is thinking about.
And yeah, that was another point I usually make with the kids re: tat placement. Although *everybody* here has tattoos, from the cashiers to doctors. I cannot imagine making a complaint against someone- especially in a big box store. So happy to hear that Jordan's boss had his back
That reminds me, Scott showed us the other night what he has been thinking about for a couple of years for a tattoo idea for himself. You know those botanical sketches you would see in a reference book? He wants to get something like that done on his arm. he and his Environmental Science crew wanted to get them when they graduated. Each of them had a particular plant/tree that they associated with each other. He joked that he didn't think that it would count against him on an interview since it would be career-related. :p

It is Sunday morning and finally, the humidity has broken. I have a blanket over me ATM and not because Gary has the AC on too cold.

I tried to get a bunch of things done yesterday morning and I think I did ok. I need to buy stamps and a collar for J, got that taken care of. We were invited to a wine tasting/dinner for my neighbors in two weeks and I looked at a few things at TJMAXX.com that might work, I also need a couple of things for the trip down the shore which is in 3 weeks. I put in a small order and if stuff doesn't fit, I can return it to the store in town.

I finished the page for the Sketch challenge, it is a really cute picture of Scott and Leah. Then I started one for the AJ Challenge. That is the most scrapping I have gotten done in the last two months. *knocks wood* It has been more than three days and ACDSee hasn't crashed *knocks wood again*

My parents are coming up with bagels this morning, Tom is here too so they will get to meet him. Unfortunately, Scott is working today so he won't be here.

Have a fantastic day, hugs!

Kay- Hope you were able to rest and relax all day after your trip to the stores on Friday. That is a bummer that it wasn't the mattress causing the pain. That would have been a nice, easy fix if it was. That is a great collection of DVDs, I don't think I have seen The Wind Talkers or Empire of the Sun. I guess they are good or you wouldn't have bought them.

@vickyday Oh wow, that is awful that you and your kids have the same headaches. Do allergy meds help it at all or is it something you have to just work through? Hope that the humidity is lower for you too.

@tanteva What a great time you had with your friend, and fantastic that she is so happy!! I hope that you are able to keep in touch more often. How far do you live, I know you said she lives in the southern part of Sweden.
Did you go back to get the goat cheese?

@scrap-genie It is too much, how fast time if going. I am struggling with keeping it straight. I thought that Scott graduated *this* year the other day and had to go piece by piece in my head to figure it all out. He has been working since April so it didn't make sense but I couldn't wrap my brain that it had been over a year already.
If your weather is the same we have right now, you must be loving it! Were you able to stay cool enough the last few days? Hope you slept better too.

haha! Eva, I know what you mean! LOL

@Cherylndesigns You know me, I could literally trip over air. Do you think you broke your toe?
I saw mums for sale when I drove past the garden center, nope nope nope, I need summer flowers for as long as possible :p
That Lila is too cute and so smart!! It must have been adorable to see her running down to your house. Hope she and Daisy had a fun play date.

Thank you all for talking about pickles, I am starting to get lots of cucumbers and will need to make another batch of pickles soon.

Didn't get anymore cheese. We bought candy instead. LOL

She lives about a 6 hr drive away, so it's not a trip you can do over a day. But we usually go down to the south of Sweden every summer ... when there's no &%#¤%% pandemic ... so we said to meet in Vadstena next summer.

Vadstena is paradise on earth. Now it's 2 years since we were there, and I miss it so much. It's a small town, but with great history. A castle from 1500-something & a medieval monestary. Or wait ... I'm not a catholic ... is it called monestary when it was for women. Nuns ... nunnery??? Anyway ... lots of history. I need to go back and get some photos! We've been there so many times, and I have no decent photos to scrap.

Chris - Wind Talkers is a movie about the Code Talkers (Navajo Indians) in World War II - with Nicolas Cage as one of the protectors of them. I wasn't a fan of Nicolas Cage when he first started his career but have come to enjoy his movies. Empire of the Sun is about a young boy in a Japanese Prisoner of War Camp in Shanghai during World War II. Both are excellent movies.

And speaking of DVD movies... I remembered that the public library big DVD movies sale was going on yesterday morning. They had DVDs for $1 and DVD sets for $3. I put on my back brace and went over to see what I could find. Long story short - came home with 37 DVDs and 1 DVD set. WOW! ! ! ! It wasn't crowded - maybe 6-8 people at a time. Think the big crowd was on Friday - the first day of the sale. I was smart and took my big canvas bag with me and it was FULL. Had to lay in the recliner with the massage unit for awhile when I got home, After lunch I did a hand-written inventory of what I had bought. Want to get it on the computer one of these days and put it all in alphabetical listing so I can see all that I have easily.

DD#3 came over with her grandson (16 months old) later on in the afternoon. He is at the age where he is running everywhere and curious about everything. He kept DD on her toes. He has grown so much since I saw him a couple of months ago. So good to see DD and we were able to plan a November birthday get-together to celebrate her #2 son's, DD's and my birthdays.

I am still in the rest and recovery mode today.

I have to add to the discussion of what to add to eggs - I love spicy salsa on omelets with cheese and also on scrambled eggs. And sometimes, I like putting a fried egg on top of a stack of enchiladas.

I found out that Ava is getting a tat on her left underarm - she had many, many surgeries on her wrist (like 20) and has LOTS of scars. She found an artist who's going to "work around" the scars and incorporate them in the tat. know she has pictures of her other tats, as well. I'll get her to sent them to me. Here's a picture of our two tats - I never got a LO made but I'll show you this. Ava and I were sitting in a coffee shop and took this picture of our tats. It's pretty "sun filled" but I love it. The tat on Ava's underarm is in my handwriting - I don't know if I ever told you that or not. She said she always remembered me saying "enjoy the little things" and wanted it on her arm.

Kay @BrightEyes I want to watch Wind Talkers now! I've never seen it and I'm so intrigued by the Native Americans whose code Hitler's beasts couldn't break!! I've seen other movies about that, but not sure I've seen the Nicolas Cage version.

Hope your back is getting better.

Thank you all for talking about pickles, I am starting to get lots of cucumbers and will need to make another batch of pickles soon.

ketchup- yuck
cheese- LOVE!
social skills- who needs 'em?

@vickyday do you make your pickles by scanning or refrigerator? I just make fridge pickles- I add garlic cloves and red pepper/jalapeno salt to some jars.

xoxo
Chris, I've tried allergy meds before. Didn't help! I just deal with it!
The cucumbers with onions, vinegar and sugar and water are refrigerated.
