Of course we have been well behaved...we take after our fearless leader @faerywings. And we sure hope that she comes back to us rested and relaxed!

Thanks @tanteva for opening the weekend O's. You need to add Queen of the Gifs to your list of accolades.

As for me...what's in store? Hmmm....I don't know. Shaun works all day today so we won't see him until about 7:30 tonight. I'm still working on a slow purge of things that are in boxes that we don't need to save. But it is slow going...

And we have a new Costco. It opened on August 3 so it has just been too crazy to go over. But it's only about 20 minutes from the house so we are going tomorrow...because even Shaun wants to go to the new Costco. We really live exciting lives! And the only thing that Sydney thinks that she really needs is her pantry stocked. But she is now thinking that we should do that over the weekend after she moves in and that I should come down either Saturday or Sunday so that we can go grocery shopping together. And, of course, I'm on board with that!! Good thing gasoline prices have fallen!

OMG, you ladies have me LMBO over here!!!! I would *love* to say thank you for holding down the fort but if I did it was only because you *had* to after you all blew the fort up!
I think I should go away more often :D:D:D

I had a really relaxing time. So perfect. We didn't do much of anything- I weeded outside and my mom moved her piles of papers around inside. We went to the beach (literally about ~50 feet of sand, not much of a beach but perfect for us). My mom was in good spirits (prob since my dad wasn't there?? heh). And we talked. Correction: she talked, and I listened. I think she needed that.

I have lots to catch up with but thanks for having fun while I was away!! xoxoxo Missed you all!

@pachimac Syd usually comes in at night and lies on the bed with us for about 10 minutes before she goes to her room. She plays with the dogs, then most nights one goes with her to sleep in her room, some nights they both go with her and on occasion they both stay with us!

@Betty Jo I definitely needed my mom when I was an adult. I have always said that I learned what unconditional love meant from my parents. They were such encouragers for me. I hope that I have done that...and can continue to do it...for my two.

@Lynn Grieveson oh my goodness! I cannot tell you how much your "random swipe card" story sounds like me. That had me literally laughing out loud!!!

@tanteva you've got me laughing out loud with the marching ketchup bottles!! :D

@faerywings Welcome back, Chris. So glad you had a restful time and alone time with your Mom. I laughed out loud when you said 'and my mom moved her piles of papers around inside.' Some days it feels like that's about all I accomplish!!

@LSlycord I still need my mom and many days wish I could pick up the phone and call her. The first few years after she passed away, I'd find myself actually picking up the phone starting to dial her number before I realized she was no longer there. :( I have no doubt whatsoever that you are a huge encouragement to your children and will continue to be.

@Lynn Grieveson Oh my, Lynn, I too was laughing out loud about your swipe card. I did something similar in the last place I lived. I shared an apartment with a friend in a large gated apartment complex. We had to use our individual codes to open the gate to enter the complex. I was forever forgetting my code, so had to phone my friend to look for it on my desk where I had written it, give it to me over the phone, then I could get through the gate. She finally said, "What are you going to do when I'm not here?" So, I finally wrote it down and put it in my car, neither of us realizing how prophetic her words were, as she passed the following year.

Welcome back, Chris @faerywings !!! So glad you had a good time even if the beach was small. It is good that you are patient with your Mom and listened to her - bet that was what she needed. I see you found some of the weapons.. sorry we didn't get them all picked up before you got home. #kiss3

@tanteva I almost spit out my coffee over those marching ketchup bottles! Hilarious!!! I don't think that we got all the party stuff cleaned up before Chris got home. At least we tried.... snicker, snicker, snicker!

@pachimac I saw the photo of your poor puppy... hope he recovers quickly. My skin itched seeing all those blisters on him.

@LSlycord Oh, my word.... do the kids know what might have caused them both to have swelling??? Glad that Syd remembered she had some Benadryl in her first aid kit. Waiting until she gets moved into the dorm before going grocery shopping sounds like a good plan.

@Lynn Grieveson I had to LOL over the swipe card story. Glad you found it and now can open the gate without getting out of the car! So sorry to hear about all the landslides in the area.

@Betty Jo I know what you mean about going to dial your Mom after she was gone. I used to call my mom several times a week and after she passed, I would find myself thinking "I want to tell Mom about..." I can also relate to "dial her number"... and now all is pushbutton on the phones. hahaha Of course, I love the freedom of cordless/walk around phone now... no more leaning against the wall where the phone used to hang.

@scrap-genie - I saw the white rabbit running with his pocket watch in hand saying "I'm late... I'm late"!!! Sorry you were running late for your zoom meeting but glad you dashed through here.

I popped into OS to check on the challenge I'm hosting and into here to say "Hi" and make sure Chris made it back. I am trying to limit my time on the computer.

Good morning ladies. We are almost ready for the cruise. Just need to put tags on luggage, do a last minute check of essentials and get the dog stuff packed and put in Jen's car so at 6:30 am tomorrow I can get the dogs in and off we go to the kennel. By the time I return, Jen and D will have all the luggage loaded in my car and we'll head out. We want to be out of here by 7:30 so we have lots of time to get to the Vancouver waterfront. You never know if there will be construction/accident etc along the way (and there often is) which will slow us down. It'll be a long drive but we'll be excited. We have an express pass so should be boarded on the ship fairly quickly. We have already done check-in. We all got negative covid tests yesterday (omg...wouldn't that have been a disaster).

So I might sit and scrap a bit this afternoon but maybe not.

@faerywings Welcome back from your get-away with your mom.

@Betty Jo What I meant about the two year absence from the States is that since we now live so far from the border we won't go often, too far to drive. But...I shouldn't have said that LOL.

We talked last night and since we are going to Elton John in October in Vancouver (Jen bought us tickets for Xmas last yr) and the dogs will be in a kennel for a few days, we'll extend our holiday and the day after the concert we'll drive out to Washington and spend a night on the coast at one of the casino hotels there. Then Jen and I can have fun going shopping on the way back in Bellingham. So I will get one more US shopping trip before settling back in at home. At that point, I don't imagine we'll be driving across the border for another yr or two.

I'm going to go clean out the car before showering and getting the dog stuff packed. Have a good day everyone.

I think I have cleaned up the mess y'all made while I was away. However, I don't; think that there is *any* way I am going to be able to catch up with each of you individually. So that means--
All of you are grounded!

:D

@bcgal00 have a wonderful, incredible, relaxing, and rejuvenating time on the cruise-- I hope that you, D, and J enjoy every minute!

@pachimac I can see that you fit right in with the rest of the hooligans -

@scrap-genie sure, sure-- pop in when I am not around ;) Hoop the Zoom mtgs were fab!

@tanteva You and your ketchup #angry2

@BrightEyes hope that the BP is still good after all your partying here

@Cherylndesigns -- bad influence, you are a BAD influence, watch out Ava, Cici is coming for your crown LOL

@Betty Jo there were a few times (more than a few!HA!) that my mom started to tell me a story I have hears a gazillion times already, and I bit my tongue knowing that someday I will give anything to hear them again

@Lynn Grieveson The swipe card story-- that would totally be something I would do!

@LSlycord how are the kids, did they get the swelling to go down? If Benedryl isn't helping Cait takes a Zyrtec and Allegra combo when her hives won't go away. Did they get into poison ivy?

Susie- was it your dog that had hives? Poor little one! We gave my dog Zyrtec when she had allergies- 10 mgs for a 50 lb dog, you would have to call your vet to find out how much for a little one -- hope s/he is better!

I know I must be missing people-- I am sorry!

Please know that I was laughing so hard at your antics!!
Love you!

We love you, Chris - we had so much fun and knew (secretly) that you'd be disappointed if we didn't act up. You wouldn't love us so much if we didn't. BWAHAHA - the ketchup and the medieval weapon - destroyed me!! When Eva @tanteva posted the picture of that weapon, I about spit my drink out!!

Yes, Susie @pachimac fits right in here - we haven't scared her off for one minute. I think we've scared a few people off, but not this girl!! She's tough.

We're really glad you're back - we were running out of tricks. Hahahaha We only have SO many now.

Quick personals - I just got home. We decided to go out again today and drove about 40 miles away to a town we had never shopped in. There were a whole 3 stores there. LOL We hit paydirt on one of them and the other two were so-so. The really fun store had "buy three get one free" - as long as it was the same or lesser value. I found an adorable little pot with the cutest beads on it. Chuck is going to be thrilled (not) that I bought something else to put in the kitchen window. He has to fight my stuff every night when he pulls the blinds down. Oh well, deal with it. What else? They had wine gummies - and wine popcorn - yes, please. We had the most fun with the owner of that shop. He gave us a whole bunch of free samples, too. I bought a box of wine gummies - of course, I did.

We went to the other (good) shop and Ava got a FREE sign that they were going to throw away. It had water damage on it. I told her to distress it - it's free. Adrienne got the year's best bargain - 2 really beautiful garlands for $35 - she thought they would be about a hundred dollars and wasn't going to get them unless they were on sale. I guess 35 is on sale. LOL She was thrilled to say the least. We went to a third shop that was way over priced and they had the sign that Ava got free. We didn't ask how much it was, but we were laughing so hard. it was probably like fifty dollars based on their other prices.

We did just get some bad news. One of our family friends - Alyssa's ex-boyfriend's dad, was badly burned today and has third degree burns and is in serious condition. They drag race all the time and he was at the track and filling the "cells" (I don't know for sure what that means but Chuck did.) They put nitrous in them and it blew up in his face. I guess that's what makes the cars sound so loud. His name is Jason Copeland and he could use all the prayers he can get.

Well, I'd better get off here and check the board for a few minutes.

@faerywings Chris, this brought me to tears. 'There were a few times (more than a few!HA!) that my mom started to tell me a story I have heard a gazillion times already, and I bit my tongue knowing that someday I will give anything to hear them again.'

@bcgal00 Rae, I was thinking you lived in the US all along! Sorry for the confusion. I have the hardest time remembering who lives where.

@BrightEyes Yes, "dial her number", sounds so strange today, doesn't it? :) I've only had a cell since 2009. My mother never had one. Kay, speaking of leaning against the wall using the phone. My parents lived in FL. Once I was visiting my Mom and she had a new outfit she wanted to model for me. While she was in her room getting dressed, I was leaning against the wall in the hallway outside her door, next to the wall phone, waiting for the fashion show. It was storming outside. Suddenly, lighting flashed, came down through the phone wires, hit the metal on my bra, knocked me right off the wall and I screamed bloody murder. My mom came flying out of her room eyes huge, only half her new outfit on and said, "What in the world is wrong with you?" I said, "I just got hit by lightning." I turned around and hitched up my blouse, and she said I had red marks on my back. Phew! Let me tell you, I never got near a rotary phone again during a lighting storm. I'm so thankful the cell phone I have now is not connected to electricity!

@LSlycord Linda, I forgot, I no longer have Netflix. Duhhh! I hardly ever watched anything on there so unsubscribed last year. I love English shows so have Acorn and BritBox. I also have Prime and love the old TV shows on Frndly. I searched for "Rescued by Ruby" on Prime but it isn't there. If I subscribe to Netflix again in the future, and I might, I'll be sure to watch it.

@Cherylndesigns I love reading about your shopping sprees. Wine popcorn? That's a new one. I love popcorn but had never heard of that one. Congrats to Ava on the free sign! So very sorry to hear of your family friend's accident. I'll pray for Jason and his family.

Off to have some coffee and a walk once it's light outside . . . finally a dry day, no rain or storms predicted. :)

Good morning ladies! Spent a lot of time yesterday trying to get our storage under the stairs more organized. We have that thing packed because, remember I come from the land of basements. It started with the music boxes. I will NEVER again have a home big enough to display my music boxes. So I reduced them by about 80% and just kept some that are particularly meaningful to me. I took pictures of the rest so there will be a music box page coming soon.

But then, I realized that I still had so much stuff. So I started through the boxes. Got rid of lots of old genealogy stuff that is no longer necessary in this age with all of the census records online and DNA testing. Then I started pulling out boxes of pictures...literally 100's of pictures...definitely 1000+ and maybe 1000's of pictures. These still all need to be scanned and filed...and lots of scrapping to be done. So I'm taking all of the photos to the guest room closet so that I don't need to do all of that digging to get to them. And I am devoting Sydney's first year of college to my photo organization project! I'll count on all of you to hold me accountable.

Then, with boxes all over the living room, I found a book that I had never read so I sat down about 3:30 and started the book. And continued reading until I finished it. LOL I used to do that all of the time but kids changed that. I think I'm going to do it again.

But today...today, we are heading to Costco as a family! The kids used to love to do that back in Iowa. We always bought way more than we needed but we had some really good stuff! So today we will do a family outing...maybe I'll get pictures and make a layout! Plus I'll get the boxes back to the storage area or Brian will do it and that will be a disaster. ;-)

Hope everyone has a great day!

I think I am still way far behind here. Looking at my post from yesterday, I should have proofread it a little better. Sorry ;)

I feel so bad for Scott, he is working the parking lots at the County Fair the past few days. That is not a part of the job he likes at all but it's only 4 days out of the season. Today is the last one and yikes he looks exhausted. I think I have seen him a total of 10 minutes since we had our game night on Tuesday.
It was pretty quiet here yesterday but there is some cool news. Gary has been working on a computer/mini arcade project for over a year. It is getting closer to going Live. https://thunderstickstudio.com/
ETA: here is the link to the product itself
He "met" up with this guy who designs mini-arcade systems or some such stuff (don't ask me, I have no clue, it's all another language to me) and this has been something they have been fooling around with for a while. Glen has been working on mini-arcade stuff for a long time and asked Gary for some help making the button/joystick panels and it sort of evolved from there.
There was a gaming convention on Long Island yesterday that Glen brought it to and it seems to have gone over well.

Cait and I went to the FP, they are struggling with donations and supplies so everything was very limited but I got coffee *happy dances*
I did some more deadheading in the yard, cut back the last of the lilies of the valley. I can't figure out why the bee balm didn't bloom, the plants themselves look healthy, just no flowers. Usually, I have bees covered in pollen all over them and the coneflowers. It's so cute to see the bees with yellow pollen blobs instead of legs.
No big plans today-- more of the same old, same old.
Have a fun day my lOves!

@pachimac Oh, your baby boy is so cute, what is his name? Can you give him a belly rub from me?

@Cherylndesigns If you all hadn't acted up while I was gone, I would have worried about you LOL!!! I was cracking up at the weapon and ketchup too.
If we haven't scared Susie yet, *nothing* is gonna scare her away :p
Three stores in one entire town, that is almost as sparse as my town *winks* No, my town has more than that, we have at least double that in liquor stores. Probably closer to triple. The wine popcorn sounds good but I am not so sure about the gummies. Ava is such a good shopper, she can sniff out any bargains everywhere.
Many good thoughts to your friend, I hope that he heals well and quickly.

@Betty Jo I have a tendency to be impatient and my mom has a tendency *ahem-- a small thing really /s * to go on and on and on and on -- but I guess after last year when she almost died, I have been trying to remind myself to stay in the moment with her-- even if it kills me!~!! Bwuahahah
OMG that story about the lightning, crazy!! It sounds funny now but could not have been when it happened.
Gary is addicted to the older shows on TV - he was watching Columbo the other day and Andy Griffith the day before

@LSlycord I can't imagine living without a basement. Or an attic. Or a million other places to shove things. How cool to find all of the photos! Are they just of the four of you or do they go way back? Maybe we can encourage each other to work on scanning and organizing pictures? I have been wanting to get up in the attic and find the boxes of loose photos that have been getting tossed around. It is way too hot up there ATM but it has been something I have wanted to do since Caitlyn got engaged she was asking about my engagement party/bridal shower etc and I know they are *somewhere.*
Hope that you have a fab Sunday with the family-- you holding up ok?

big hugs!!

Well, my goal for this weekend is done! I have to go and get some more stamps, and post a couple more letters, but I have written and sent 14 letters this weekend. My pen pals will be shocked. LOL Ok, I've cheated, I basically wrote one letter in English, and one in Swedish, and sent to everyone, but I'm NOT NOT NOT putting any pressure on myself!

Leftovers for dinner today. And I need to do some ironing. Work all day tomorrow. I hope I can sleep tonight, haven't slept well the last couple of nights.

Good morning lovelies.

Chris @faerywings it takes a while to catch up - especially with all of our shenanigans - Errrrr, fun. Eva @tanteva, what? no ketchup giphs today??? I dare you to find a medieval weapon ketchup combo. Actually, I love ketchup - so I like your funny ketchup pictures. Did I tell you all that I like ketchup on mac and cheese and cheese eggs - well, cheesy anything.

I'm up early, for me. I got a good night's sleep - I was tired after running around (driving so much yesterday)/ Chris @faerywings that's a lot of liquor stores, girl. BWUHAHAHA The wine popcorn was yummo - I have lots of samples and the wine gummies were surprisingly good. I have a whole box of them plus the freebies he gave us. Yes, Ava finds the best deals - it was like that sign just fell on her from the sky.

Betty Jo, that's a scary story about the lightening! My husband has been struck by lightning 3 times in his life. The lightening in Florida is the most wicked that I've ever experienced. It seems like it goes straight through your house!

Lynda @LSlycord I miss basements/attics in a way, but we had that flood in our last basement in Mi and I lost a lot of my stuff, including lots of old pictures that I were stores correctly. So, I really don't miss them except when a storm comes. We have storm shelters for those. We also have a nice, tall attic that we can stand straight up in and can store stuff in. Have fun at Costco today - that's so cool that you found more pictures.

Susie @pachimac glad the pup is better - poor baby. Give him a belly rub from me, too.

Haven't heard anything from our friend yet this am but late last night, his wife hadn't even been able to go into the burn unit. He's on a ventilator from all of the smoke inhalation but they can't go in because they're worried about infection at this point. Adrienne and Roger are going to try to go see Kim (the wife) today, at least. They're in a big hospital in Tulsa. We found out that the accident DID happen at a racetrack near Tulsa - that was a good thing. If he'd had the explosion here, in his garage, it would have been a lot worse. Thanks for all the concern and prayers and I'll keep you posted.

Oh, Chris @faerywings that's so cool about Gary! I'll check out that link.

XOXO
