Daily Ooos: April 3-4: Weekend Edition

The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
Weekend shmeekend. *eye roll* Feels like none of it- being time/days/weeks- matters. I am getting so darn frustrated. The one thing that is keeping me going is that the days are longer. I really like it being sort of light out when I wake up and that it is still light after dinner. Yesterday, the sun was out for an hour or so and then it was grey and chilly again. It's depressing.
I am really looking forward to cleaning again. My neighbor said how much he misses me coming in to help. As soon as he is vaccinated I am going to start. He is having a hard time getting an appt because he is housebound/disabled. I wonder if at some point, they will have home care nurses reaching out to those in his situation.
Yesterday was such a blah day again. Caitlyn is up to her eyeballs in homework, Gary is involved in some arcade machine/computer graphics project, and Scott is off pet sitting for my BFF who is visiting my nephew this weekend in Pittsburgh. I wondered around the house talking to myself. I swear, I need a whole bunch of cats to talk to. I am a kooky cat lady sans cats.

My parents are coming up this morning to bring Easter Pie. I hope that they behave. The last few times I talked to them on the phone they were bickering something awful. My dad isn't sleeping and is in constant pain with his shoulder. He is super-cranky and short-tempered. And my mom can't let anything slide. Makes it fun. They usually behave when they are with my kids but Scott isn't here so will that dilute the good behavior???

I hope that everyone is doing well and if you are getting ready for Easter- I hope it is a great weekend for you!

@felis- is your computer working yet? Hope so!

@taxed4ever OMG, what a rollercoaster that must have been for your kids to have to deal with the lockdown like that. I am relieved that they were able to go for the 2 nights. How far are they from each other? It would have been so disappointing if they couldn't go at all. This whole thing is such a mess. :(
Were the grand all happy to see each other? Hope they sent you lots of pictures!
oooh, a new sink faucet! We got a new PUR filter and I am pretty stoked about that bwuhahahah!!! Are you getting to see your ILs this weekend? It will be nice to visit if you can.
I asked the tattoo artist about cleaning up the name when I had met Mickey done and it is just a part of "old skin" - loses its elasticity. Although now that Caitlyn is officially dating a tattoo artist of her own, maybe I can have him recolor some of mine that have faded? ;) How cute that Jackie has ladybugs for the kids.
Congrats on getting the silhouette!!

@Cherylndesigns Oh wow, you are one brave lady, getting a tattoo and knowing that Chuck wouldn't be happy about it. As you said, it isn't like he was never going to talk to you again hehe!!!
ewwww-- you eat Peeps but not chocolate??? You are a madman! :D

@scrap-genie *snorts* every day feels like a Monday other than last Wed which felt like a Sunday to all of us.
Yeah, having some of the stuff for spring is going to help once I can get out there. Next purchase is going to be one of the tiny rakes that Cheryl mentioned. I usually removed all of the dead leaves off of the plants by hand so I don't rip them out of the ground, but using the rake might be easier on my back a bit.

@LSlycord every time I want to get angry at you for the nice weather, I remind myself that you lived in IA and dealt with more snow than I do. LOL!!!
That is such a sweet way to remember your mom with the kids possibly getting matching tattoos!

It's time for me to bribe Cait out of bed with coffee. She is like her mama. :D
HAGD!!!

Busy weekend ahead...well not really, but I'm sure I will fill it up and feel exhausted by the end. LOL Finally feeling myself...so I get vaccinated with the second dose on Tuesday. I'm hoping that it doesn't cause side effects but I'm guessing that it might. I haven't taken the day off of work but I have made sure that I haven't scheduled any meetings where I am facilitating so if I need to rest, I'll do it.

I'm doing my Easter dinner menu planning...which isn't too tough because I've made the same Easter dinner for about 20 years. I might make a few changes here and there but not many. I suggested we eat out but my kids were adamantly opposed. Family dinners were always a big thing for me. I started doing them when I was in college...took over from my Grandma who had Sunday dinners for the family when I was a girl. Then I hosted all holiday dinners, with usually 10-15 peoples. I loved it. And it is one of the things that I miss most about living in Florida. The dinners have become pretty small now with just the four of us but I think it helps the kids to feel that life hasn't been completely disrupted.

My best friend from high school is coming down on April 15 and staying for 5 days. I am so excited. We have stayed BFF's for a lot of years (50+). I am so excited to have her down here. Cannot wait. I've actually planned an itinerary. Which I'm sure we won't follow. But I am so looking forward to this.

The dogs are going crazy this morning. While I have been writing this note, they have interrupted twice. First time they were chasing each other around the living room (remember 95 pounds and 55 pounds) and knocked over the lamp...fortunately the bulb didn't break and we were able to straighten the broken pieces but what a crash! Then I had to stop typing to go over and settle an argument that they were having over toys. Seriously?! This is what my life has become. (I did give Andie a lecture about the lamp...I told her that this was why we couldn't have nice things.)

@faerywings I'm so glad that your parents can stop to see you this weekend. I hope that they are just so excited to be able to come to your house to bring the Easter pie that they enjoy their time together and everyone gets along.

Well, off to the store for me. I'll be back in later. I need to scrap this weekend...I have a bunch of pent up demand!

Happy Saturday!! I just got home - Adrienne and I went to get pedicures - yay! I haven't had one since right before the lockdown when we lived in Florida!!! When you live in Florida, you live in flip flops/sandals (right @LSlycord Linda?) so pedis are a big business there. Here, I've only had boots of some kind on since last fall.

Then Adrienne went to get her hair colored and Ava came into town to pick me up. Then we had to go pick up Alyssa at her new job - Nancy's Pie Shop - then we had to take Alyssa BACK into town to where Adrienne was so she could get her eye brows waxed. Then, Ava, Alyssa and I came home. How exciting is my life? Right now, I have 3 men (including my husband) + Ava taking the front door lock off so it will lock. Something is wrong with it - it's a combination type lock. I=yi-yi it's always something. Roger's also here and his handyman, Tom. Pretty funny - all of the guys working on the door.

Chris @faerywings I KNEW someone would come up for air on the Peeps thing. ROTF. I can't eat chocolate - I love it but it doesn't even like me one little bit. It's just not worth it to eat it anymore and get sick. Actually, I don't eat a lot of sweets anymore, but I LOVE Peeps - always have! People are under strict orders not to bring them into my house because I've been known to eat a whole pack of them!

Can you believe I'm crazy enough to get a tattoo knowing how my husband felt about them??? I KNEW I'd have to pay the piper when I got home, but I wanted it that badly. I think he secretly thinks it's kind of cool now but he certainly didn't that night. I thought his head was going to start spinning.

I ordered a big wooden wagon wheel for the peak of the front of the house and it's now sitting on my front porch. It's SO cool!! Honestly, I love it where it is and it's not big enough to put it where I want it, so I'm going to order a bigger one. I saw one at that antique store last Sunday and it was $350!!! It was an antique, but still............I got mine for $45.00. \\

@LSlycord I hear you about the changes when you move to Florida. Big changes. When we moved there, our youngest DD was 18. She got a job at the hottest bar in Ft. Myers - it was THE swinging place to go. She got to sell beer since she was 18 but she met SO many kids. A good portion of them had no family there. A lot of them hung out at our house - we had a pool that was a big draw. Anyway, every Sunday and especially every holiday, we had "anybody who doesn't have anyplace to go - come over and eat". We always had a good crowd and we made some lasting friends during those years. The bar didn't close until 2 and it wasn't unusual for a couple of kids to come home with our DD to night swim. Occasionally, someone even slept on the couch. We never knew who might be sacked out on the couch in the morning. That was fun time.

How cool that your friend is coming!! I know you must be super excited!! It was always so exciting when anybody came down to visit. I hope you have amazingly awesome weather for your visit!

Well, I got all of my "counts" done last night. I even figured out how to do the comments thing!!! YAY for me!! I had 32 people play in my challenge!! I was going through and crossing the Cheery-o's off and @faerywings Felis didn't have Cheery-O under her name. Just thought I'd mention that.

I even have my winners picked and hope I don't have to changed them due to them already popping on the other challenge.

Gotta go - dogs are both chewing on something. It can't be good. I'm sure they got into the trash.

Happy Easter to everyone who celebrates. My mom made me laugh yesterday- when she gave me an Easter Card, she wrote "Happy Easter Pie Day!" hahaha! That is a good celebration.
The Easter Pie was so yummy and we had it for dinner. She makes Caitlyn one that instead of meat, she chops up broccoli. It was nice having my parents up for a bit. Gary was helping her set up her new phone with Bluetooth in the car. Meanwhile, my dad was in so much pain that he couldn't take his coat off. The surgeon is saying that they can't do the surgery- no openings- until the end of April, beginning of May.

I am off to get my second shot today and need to make sure the food shopping is done today and that I small caught up on laundry in case I am down for the count tomorrow. I am hoping that I don't have any side effects but figure that better to be prepared.
If for some reason I am not online tomorrow-- go ahead and open a thread here if you want (please *always* feel like you can do that- I know I say it all of the time but this thread isn't mine, it is everyone's- so go for it!).

@LSlycord Yup, I am thinking the same, hopeful that I don't get any side effects after #2 but guessing that I might. hehe, your kids are like mine-- certain traditions must stay *exactly* the same. :p Have a nice dinner together! How wonderful that your BFF is coming to visit! How long has it been since you have seen each other?

@Cherylndesigns Your feet must be so happy!! I don't think I have seen my feet since last October LOL You and the girls had a lot of fun bopping all over town- how far is town from where you live?
I cannot imagine not being able to eat chocolate. But marshmallows? blech! *G*
The wheel -- what a great find! My ILs had one and wanted to give it to us, but we had nowhere to put it so we gave it to my neighbors. You sound like me-- always excited to get a good buy.
Felis isn't a Cheery O, even though she is with us here most days so she is eligible for all of the prizes!

xoxo

Happy Easter.
Short and sweet again today. Will be off at the crack of dawn tomorrow to have a stress test on the heart. Emergency Room doc ordered it from my visit there last Monday evening. Feeling better but BP is still doing the yo-yo up and down. At least it isn't into the scary range now.
Spring has sprung and a couple of trees in the backyard have leaves and blossoms. Got up to 80* yesterday afternoon. Wonderful to have the house opened up with fresh breezes blowing through. Suppose to stay in the high 70's for a couple more days then back into low 70's the rest of the week. Still waiting to hear from Sister as to when she is heading my way.

Happy Easter everyone! (felis I know that your's is not until next week). It is a beautiful sunny day and the temps are supposed to be nice and mild, so we hope to be outside a lot today. Yesterday was cool and we got a mixed bag of weather, so we got our errands done and the new facet in (I just love it!). Its the little things that make me happy LOL. So nice that my Gary is a handy guy and we didn't have to get someone in to replace the old one. My old one would drip and was hard to turn the water off, it
usually took three attempts to finally shut off. So I am very happy to not be fighting with that anymore! The kids had a great visit, but much too short of course and everyone arrived back safely to Ottawa on Saturday night. They did manage to get the Easter goodies that I had arranged for Heather to pick up in Stratford. I hope to make a page with the pic that they sent of them with their goodies! It wasn't a lot but at least they got something from Gary and I. They said they had so many laughs and enjoyed the time together! It makes my Mommy heart happy to hear!! It will be just the two of us for Easter dinner tonight, so DH offered to cook his yummy baby back ribs on the BBQ tonight. That makes me happy too, not much to prepare for supper except perhaps a Caesar salad and some garlic bread for DH. We watched the Bruins game before heading out to run errands yesterday and they finally defeated the Penquins. @nancyr do you think that Sid the Kid is just a whiny cry baby or what??? Opps did I say that out loud??. Expecting a face time call from the kids and grands at some point today, so I better get busy and get showered and dressed.

@faerywings - So nice that your parents got to come for a visit and bring you the Easter Pie! Sweet that she made a special one for Caitlyn also! Your poor Dad, in so much pain! Sure hope that they can fix him up with the surgery! Good luck with your second shot today! I do hope that you don't get any of those nasty side effects from it! I am sure one of us will open the thread here tomorrow if you are down for the count! Praying that you are not though! Yes we all feel something is wrong with the universe if you are not in here every morning LOL.

@LSlycord - Had to laugh about you scolding your dog for knocking over the lamp! I used to say the same thing to our kids, that we could never have anything nice because they would rough house so much! Hope that your Easter supper turned out amazing and you are fortunate to at least have your kids home with you to cook for and carry on that tradition! How exciting to have your friend come to visit, it will be so nice for you both to catch up on lost time!

@Cherylndesigns - What a great find with the wagon wheel, hope you manage to find the larger one that you want too! Sounds like you had a very busy time with the ladies! Nice to have a pedicure! I really need one too! No felis is not a cheeryO, but we do love that she joins us here in the chatter thread along with nancy and jean and anyone that wants to pop in and say hi.

Ok I am off to find a recipe for Keto waffles I have a hankering for that this morning. Have a great Easter Sunday everyone!

Happy Easter everybody!

Now, I get it - I guess I thought all of those girls were Cheery-O's. I didn't think anything about it until I was going through my participants and making my lists.

The wagon wheel is sitting on the front porch - still trying to make a decision on the size. We were all standing out there yesterday evening "pondering". My husband said that he didn't want to "junk up" the front porch. BWAHAHA I DO have junk out there, but it's not going to stay. My rusty old gears are all out there, and a pile of wood and a few various other things.

Hi Kay @BrightEyes I'm SO happy that you're getting a stress test! Hopefully, they can figure out what's making your bp whacky. It's SO wonderful to see the trees budding out, isn't it? Mine are too and it's very exciting. I have lots of trees right outside my scraproom window and even more blooms have popped out since yesterday.

Chris, @faerywings I'm so glad you had a good visit and good Easter pie. Yes, I'm geeked over my wagon wheel and now I need a bigger one, I think. The "girls" and I were bopping all around the place yesterday for sure. We're about 15 minutes or so from Tahlequah - depends how far into town we go. Most of the places we go to are right on this edge, so it's not far. We have a tiny town of Keys, which is where we actually live, even though we don't have a Keys address. (Insert cross eyes emoji) - we have a gas station/convenient store (called The Barn) - all of the local characters hang out there. We also have a Dollar General and a liquor store - BWAHAHA and Nancy's Pie Shop - and Big Red's - it's a restaurant on the corner where I had to go use the wifi a few times. Alyssa just got a job at Nancy's Pie Shop - she started last Saturday. She's kind of "grumpy" so I can't imagine her making nice to the customers. However, when we picked her up yesterday, she had a whole fistful of money from tips. She said she felt like a stripper. I told her strippers didn't have their wad of bills in their jeans pockets. We're certifiably crazy - ALL of us!!

Oh, I feel like a new woman with my pedi! I got up this morning and looked at my feet and didn't cringe for the first time!! The polish is SO pretty - "I FEEL PRETTY ~ OH SO PRETTY" Falalala

I don't know what we're doing today - Adrienne's coming over and Ava and I MIGHT work on my shutters. They all went to church - I'm a heathen and didn't go and Roger's back in Florida at his "real job". He'll be gone for a week and a half. Chuck's not feeling well, so it will be quiet. No egg hunts for us. Hahaha Alyssa is gone with her bf and Braden's gone with his gf.

Hugs to all!! Happy Easter!!

That sounds like my kind of house. I really miss having lots of kids hanging out. I'm hoping that if the kids are nearby for college, they will bring home kids who live further away. That's my goal. We will see if that's how it really works or not!

And yes, flip flops, sandals and bare feet are pretty much the norm down here!

Trudy @taxed4ever, I love that faucet! Although the house is still pretty new, there are a couple of things that I would like to do. The kitchen island is huge but it is all one level, so whenever I'm cooking, I usually have an entire sink full of dishes...and another bunch of dishes running in the dishwasher. It's an open concept and everyone sees dirty dishes from the living room and the dining room. My goal is to add a second dishwasher on the other side of the sink...we have more cabinet space than even I know what to do with and I have lots of cooking toys. Then change out the stainless steel sink which always looks dirty for black and a faucet like yours would be the finishing touch! We will see if any of that really happens this year. And I'm so glad that your kids got together, even if it was a short visit. That must have done everyone a lot of good!

Kay @BrightEyes, glad to hear that they are doing the stress test. Hopefully everything is back on track but best to know for sure. That way, they can make some adjustments if they need to. Bright and early Monday morning doesn't sound so good...but hopefully you will get results back sooner that way.

Chris @faerywings, I'm thinking of you. Hoping that the shot isn't knocking you out too much! Just glad that we are getting there. And for sure, one of us can open for you in the morning if we need to. I know that you say we can but it just feels so much better when you are here first. But it also feels so much better knowing that we can help you out if you need it. Glad that you had a good time with your parents. Boy I'm sorry about the amount of pain your dad is in. That's awful that he has to wait so long for surgery.

Cheryl @Cherylndesigns, I can't wait to see your porch decorated. And the tattoo story with your husband makes me laugh. Love how much fun you have with your family!

Linda @LSlycord I have to tell you this. You know how I said my husband doesn't want me to "junk up the front porch"? My grandson just ratted my Son-in-law out - he said Roger asked why I had so much "stuff" on my porch. BWAHAHA Hey, it's MY porch, if I want to "junk it up" I will. Anyway, the pile of wood is what Ava's using to make the rest of my shutters plus there is an unhung shutter sitting on the porch, plus all the rusty old gears that I got at the antique place last weekend. Ava found the perfect spot for my wheel this afternoon - on the end wall of the porch. Personally, I kind of like it just leaning up against the wall.

Adrienne, Ava, Braden and I have spent the whole day together - just got home. It's been an absolutely gorgeous day!! We drove back up to those painted rocks (I don't know if any of you saw any of my pictures from the last time). Adrienne had never been there - you have to climb over guard rails and hike through a rough field to get back there. Braden just walked me up to the door and started laughing about what Roger said about my porch.

Cheers and @faerywings Chris - I ate two of Alyssa's peeps. I thought of you when I ate them. She was guarding them and only let me have two and her mother have two.
