The weekend is here! And you know what? It's a PJ Day for me. I say that now, who knows what is in store as the day progresses? For now, PJs all day.
I am pretty darn pleased that I got almost everything on my Finish it Friday list done even with a few small wrenches in the gears. The morning started off all whoopsie-daisied (technical term *g*). Cait called on her way to work, her oil light had come on, and since Tom had changed the oil for her the other day, Gary was concerned that something had gone wrong. It was such a stereotypical romcom-type scene. Dad gets all worked up that the future husband is not taking care of his DD properly Bwuahahha! Turned out that it was nothing. Then it was Squirrel who has been wuffling for the last few days. Caitlyn was back home while Dad checked over her car. She was trying to find meds in her room to give to Sqirrel and asked me to steam her after she heads in to work. That's basically the same as you do for a baby with croup. Pop them in the bathroom and let the shower run. We think this is what contribute to the septic overflow the other day, Caitlyn steamed her for over a half hour.
She finds the meds and goes to work. I take Squirrel into the shower with me. hehe- That sounds funny. She is in her travel cage on the sink. I am in the :showering: Poor Ms. Girl is no better so Cailtyn calls the vet and I have to get the meds. As long as I was out, I picked up the free covid tets for Gary that I tried to pick up the other day but the Rx had been botched.

PSA: If you are on Medicare and are eligible to get the free tests every month, make sure you get them refilled soon, the benefits end on May 11

In spite of all of the running around and taking care of Squirrel, I managed to get the cleaning challenge done, I pulled everything out from under my bed and vacuumed up enough dog hair to build another dog. A small dog to be sure---but there was a *lot* of dog hair under there.

Today is a good day for a PJ day. It is cool and rainy, so it will be nice to be comfy and cozy. I have some scrapping to do and laundry and not much else.

Hope you have a wonderful and relaxing day!! :blowkiss:

@vickyday How is your headache? I hope it didn't bother you too much and that you were able to enjoy your day with the girls.
Can Mark use a cushion or a doughnut on his car seat? I remember being told to use one after Scott was born, but then they said not to use it two years later when Caitlyn was born so I don't know if they are even recommended at this point. I hope that he was able to get out in the woods.

@Cherylndesigns It has been quiet in here. I hope that Kay and Trudy and SuSanne are feeling better very soon and come and chat again. I have been so pleased to see Rae's pictures on FB, she looks so incredibly happy, doesn't she? I hope everyone in the group here (lurkers too) is having a good time doing what they are doing.
Is the cat friendly to Sam? You don't think they would fight or anything? And Sam is all caught up on his shots? Sorry. Worry Mode has engaged. ;)
Good luck to Ava!! Tell her I am cheering for her too #cheer1

Good morning. I am not even going to pretend that I have kept up this week. I'll go back and scan quickly in a couple of minutes. This morning I have accomplished packing one kitchen box with an inventory of what is in it. We have sold our FluentPet buttons and two dog life jackets and I have learned the QR function for Venmo. I also got my Kroger grocery delivery, put it all away except my 18 eggs fell on the floor as I was getting them into the house. I was pleased that 10 of them survived and that is how I am rolling now...just don't have time to get all worked up.

Sydney is taking a Statics final this morning...then she has two left. Shaun got his mandatory Civics exam taken and passed yesterday and waiting for a final Econ grade but it looks like he will have his AA next week. My kids have now had 4 opportunities to walk for graduation...both of them had high school and their AA's and still, not one person has walked. I am going to start nagging now so that they are both mentally prepared to cross that stage with their bachelors degrees. Shaun is shooting for two more years and Sydney three. We will see.

Brian is doing an open house this morning. We have movers lined up for 5/26. We are moving right before the 3 day weekend which is good...will give us some time to get settled. We have the fencing company lined up to come install the fence in the backyard on 5/30 so the dogs won't stress me out too much. We met the neighbors on one side and they have a very well behaved German Shepherd. But, I think that the move will stress the dogs a bit...especially high-strung Hayden and I really want them to adjust a bit before we move. I am so looking forward to one story living.

@faerywings good reminder about the Covid kits. I got 8 and I'm going to send one to Germany with Sydney which I'm sure will cause her to complain. Come to think of it, I'm going to have her take her first aid kit that is coming home from college with her on Tuesday and that way she will have a thermometer too. She will be so pleased. NOT! And I truly did :floorlaugh: when I read that you took Squirrel to the shower with you!

@Cherylndesigns I do have the big clay pots filled with flowers. They are so heavy so very glad that we won't be responsible for them. I threw my petunias away. I knew they wouldn't last although I thought they might make it to the end of May. But nope. I don't have time in my life for flowers that can't be a little tougher than that.

@bcgal00 I do see that you are enjoying your cruise immensely. I have another friend who just finished the Panama Canal and they are heading to Alaska now. I'm really looking forward to our cruise at Christmas. Everyone seems to be so happy! Can't believe that you have already figured out your next one!

@taxed4ever I'm hoping that you have regained most of your strength and are back to adventures with Gary and SIL Linda!

@vickyday hope that you are having a good week and feeling good. And hoping that Mark is feeling well too.

@Nonni F waving hello.

Has anyone heard how @BrightEyes is doing? I miss her. Love to all of you! :hug2:

The headache hung on all day, even though it did ease up some. But still had a good day with my BFFs. I had the headache when I woke up this morning but it is gone for now!
Mark has a donut he uses at work. Sometimes the car bothers him and sometimes it does not. At least he has been able to spend a bit of time in the woods today.....about 1 1/2 hrs shooting his guns. He's back on the couch this afternoon, poor guy.

WOW! The moving is moving quickly along, LOL! Good reports on the "kids" exams, etc! I can call them kids, right? I still call my 30's and 40's children kids, LOL!
My stomach has been good this week! The weather has caused some sinus headaches, but, it is what it is. Poor Mark is still not fairing very well with his hemorrhoids! :(

Good Saturday Afternoon to all!
Had a ladies' function at the church where I take my widow friends, Ilene and Carolyn, that is an hour away. The widows did not go today. Three ladies from my church went with me. (No PJ day for me today, Chris @faerywings ! Hope you got a PJ day ALL day long!). I was up at 7:30 (only because I took my shower before bed last night so I could sleep longer today, LOL), fixed my coffee, fixed a bowl of oats and was dressed, had my face on and was out the door by 8:15! I'm usually not even up yet, LOL! The meeting began at 10 and went to 12. We stopped at Applebees on the way home for lunch. Spent a little over an hour in the restaurant eating and talking. Then spent the next hour taking everyone home. It has been a wonderful day!

Today is Mark's 62nd birthday so we will be going out to dinner later. Probably a seafood meal for him. I don't do seafood, but I can usually order chicken no matter where we go!

Have a great rest of your weekend! :bye2:

Good evening.

Well, after along day I'm home. We ended up leaving at 10:15, headed for Tulsa to Ava's competition. We got there at the perfect time, she was just getting ready for her first match. Only 4 women showed up, so she only had to compete with 3 of them. She won all her matches and got some big gold medals to add to her collection. The last round was a touch one, but she finally pulled it out. It was lots of fun but I'm glad to be home and sit down and rest.

Chris @faerywings I hope Squirrel enjoyed the steam from the shower. Is she feeling better? Yes, Sam is current on his shots - I worry about him being out and about all night, but he seems to be a night prowler. That other cat is very strange and I'm a little afraid of him. Our neighbor, Aly, who lives in the 5th wheel had a run in with him recently when he tried to get in and get to her indoor cats. He actually got in her house and when she tried to pick him up, he lost it and scared her to death. And no, Sam won't let that cat on "his patio". I watched the other night with my flashlight. Sam lays on the patio and just dares the other one to come on it. The other one puts his foot on the patio and Sam hisses at him. They had the "standoff" for awhile, then that other cat left. I feel sorry for him and want to feed him, but I know he'll stay if I do. Sam went out last night and after about an hour wanted back in. He was drenched and always goes "BRRRR" it's hysterical! He actually lets me wipe him off, even his paws.

I know it's quiet around here but that's not hugely unusual for a weekend. I hope Trudy and all the others feel better and can join us again soon. I agree about Rae - they look so happy and certainly deserve it. Vicki @vickyday hope you're feeling better today and that the headaches are subsiding. You definitely gave me a laugh about "slim pickins'" It was ironic - yesterday afternoon, Adrienne walked in and said she needed something to eat. She said it was "slim pickins" in their house and she needed food. This was after I posted that in the forum. :floorlaugh: We say that all the time.

I'm going to get off of here and see what month end stuff I need to do. Happy weekend everyone.

How are you all today? I'll be Ok as long as I get more :coffee1:. And some more...

Can I just ask that the next time I say how much I want a PJ Day, remind me how bored I get. I thought I would be all rested and recharged and ready to go today. Nope. Not even a little. I tidied the house, did some laundry, and did a bit of scrapping and tagging.
By 2 pm I was so bored I baked cookies. By 4 pm I was working on dinner. I couldn't sleep last night. I woke up at 1 am, at 3 am, and finally by 4.30 am I gave up and got out of bed a little after 5. It's gonna be a long day. *HARRUMPH*
It's gross and rainy and I can hear the sump pump running in the basement. *grumbles some more*

Aside from all of that :banghead: I need to get my act together and make it a good day.
When you are frustrated by a lot of silly things, what do you do to work yourself out of a grumpy mood? For me, being outside really helps the most but I can't do that while it is pouring. Playing games with the family usually works too.

:hug1: to you all!

@LSlycord eeep! I can't complain at all about my boring day. You poor thing, you must be inundated and overwhelmed. So much to do. I wish I could make time slow down just so you can catch your breath.
I am LMBO at the graduation ceremonies. :rotfl: I can 100% relate. My kids have had 7 opportunities to walk, 2 HS, 2 AA, BS/BA, and MSW. I got one each. Scott for HS and that was mostly because we didn't know if he was going to make it out of HS and I pushed him to walk. Cait refused to walk at HS. Neither cared about their AA degrees. They would have walked together in 2020 (that was the only way I was able to convince them to walk Undergrad, same ceremony for them both) but we all know what happened in 2020. pfft.) Caitlyn didn't really want to walk in 2022 but darn it-- it was her MSW and I missed out on all of her other graduations. And then she got Covid there. hahaha! Good luck convincing them. ♥
My mind is blown at how fast the move is going. talk to your vet about possibly getting something to keep the dogs calm. There's everything from CBD gummies for dogs to Rx anxieties. The last thing you want is for them to get anxious and take off. Can you drive down before the move to walk them on the street, get used to the new smells, and mark their own? ( I know-- with what extra time :( )
Sydney will thank you at some point in the trip for making her bring the first aid kit and tests. They always do haha!!

@vickyday I call my kids "kids" and always will too :D
Sounds like you had a nice trip with your friends even if your partners in crime weren't around.
That's so funny that getting up at 7.30 is early!
I had to get up early for HS and then for college (all classes for education majors began at 8 am. The dept thought we needed to "get used to" being ready to go at 8 am if we were going to be teachers.) Teaching did start early and most of the jobs I had been anywhere between 6.45 am and 8 am. Then I had to get my kids to the bus stop between 6.45 and 7.30 and my body is just so darn used to being awake early that I cannot sleep late. If I can sleep past 6, I am thrilled.

:birthday:
Happy birthday, Mark!

@Cherylndesigns Oh your day sounds exhausting! But good for Ava, I am sure that hearing CiCi cheer her on was very encouraging.
Yup, Squirrel is doing better. No wuffling or sneezing at all. Her tumor is about the same size so hopefully, it won't get any bigger. *knocks wood*
I am glad that Sam is up to date with his shots, I figured he would be but wanted to make sure for my own mental health. That's scary about the cat trying to get at Aly's cats. Any chance that your town has a catch/neuter/release program? That could help his aggressiveness. I'd feel bad too, but ITA- don't feed him.

Hahah! You and Vicky are funny with the "slim pickins'" My family always used it to refer to the empty fridge as well ;)

xoxoxo!

Good Morning!
Hey Chris @faerywings ! Mark says thanks for the birthday wishes!

I was up at 6:30 today.....for headache meds, darn it anyway! That's about the time the electricity went off, the fan shut off in the bedroom and Asher thought Mark was getting up to feed him since the fan went off, LOL! Got up and took some Tylenol, emptied the bladder and went back to bed. Never did go back to sleep. Mark got up about 7, fed Asher and Piper and let them out. He got a quickie shower so as not to use too much of the "hot" water. Too much activity going on for me since I wasn't sleeping anyway. So I finally got up at 8, made my coffee, put the dishes away and vegging while I drink my coffee before I get my shower for church. The electricity did come on around 8:10.

It will be another rainy day here today. I'm sure this weather is the cause for my continually dull headaches. Either that or I am wondering if I actually have allergies. Getting old is for the birds!

Hey Cheryl @Cherylndesigns , how about this idiom......."Lord willing and the creek don't rise!"
My pastor told us that the "creek" actually referred to the "Creek Indians rising in war." I had never heard that explanation. But, sure enough, this from the Sun Herald, "Origin debaters point to Col. Benjamin Hawkins of North Carolina, a Continental Congress senator and general superintendent of Indian Affairs from 1796 to 1818. When he was summoned to the nation's capital, he reportedly once responded, “If God is willing and the Creek don't rise.” BUT, it also talks about the origin being from earlier days when people crossed creeks and rivers without the benefit of bridges. If it keeps raining we are going to have to build a bridge to cross our basement, LOL!

OK, that's it for me today. Time to get ready for church!
Hope you all have a great Sunday!

Good morning ladies! Honestly, I'm ready for April to be over and May as well. Trying very hard to live in the moment, seize the day, and all that good stuff...but the reminder of the "to do" list does creep in. Oh well, one thing I know, it won't be long and I'll be typing that I can't believe how fast May has flown! :airplane:

Have a few more boxes packed. Shaun continues to remind me that we are living here for a few more weeks and we can't pack everything. I'm really trying to do some purging as I go. It's not a tiny house that we are moving too...2300 square feet but this house is 2900 square feet with a 3 car garage. We have too much stuff...way too many dishes that I never use. But I'm definitely going to miss having a walk in pantry and the storage space under the stairs. And, yes, as I read this, it does sound like I am ungrateful. I'm not really...just trying to figure it out. And it's probably one of those things that I don't need to figure out until I get there. I guess that fits under "don't borrow trouble" so think I'll take that as my theme for the month of May! Help me remember that ladies!

@vickyday I'm sorry about the nagging headaches but so happy that you can keep going. Oh my goodness...starting the day with no power...I don't like that. Is the rain from thunder storms? Is that why the power went out?

@faerywings great idea about the meds for the dogs. Andie I don't worry about too much but Hayden is so high strung anyway. I've got to get Andie in anyway for her annual tests so I'll check with him then. When I'm frustrated, sometimes I take a nap as a re-set. Sometimes I binge watch something on TV. Plug for the Diplomat here...that is a really good show. And Firefly Lane dropped and I stayed up late Friday night watching it...

@Cherylndesigns your day sounds like it was packed full. And yes, I know about "slim pickins"! Hoping that today gives you a chance to rest.

And of course I will always call them "kids". I can hear my parents and my grandparents voices talking about their adult "kids". It seems to have worked for generations so I won't be changing it now.

Goal for today---continue packing boxes! And listen to an Audible book while I do it!

We do not know if it was the rain or maybe a car accident. We did hear an ambulance a little while after we lost power. Hopefully no one was hurt!

Good afternoon all. Yes, I'm EXHAUSTED today!! Lots of riding in the car - almost 2 hours each way - standing around - walking up and down bleachers - lots of adrenaline rushes!! It was very exciting to watch Ava take her opponents down! They underestimate her - she's not as "beefy" as some of the others and she's so cheerful and always dances around and introduces herself to her opponents. We were watching her and laughing - only Ava would be like a little hostess going around and chatting them up. Don't ever underestimate that girl! She's strong - she works like a man here on the ranch and lifts cinder blocks, drives the heavy equipment and helps Roger do everything. She's "work strong". A couple of the other girls were mean looking, too. One of them was very upset and she pulled Ava's hair and scratched her face "accidentally" - right? We saw her in the corner crying after their last match. Real tough girl. LOL

Chris @faerywings I'm glad Squirrell is doing a little better. And no, I'm not going to feed the stray - I don't need another animal to take care of. Haha I've been forgetting to tell you how impressed I was that you kept African Violets alive for so long. I bow to you. I don't think they like to be moved - Ava brought me a couple of them and the soil was so "grungy" and after I repotted them that was it. They started dying in from of my eyes. UGH

Linda @LSlycord you can do this, and Shaun is right - you can't pack everything. Haha You sound just like me and I needed reminding too. What NOT to pack??? That is the question. Yes, I had a full day yesterday and I'm completely exhausted today. I figured we'd be gone longer than we were, but Roger and Adrienne were ready to come home after the competition. We had planned to stop and eat, but they had a big break right in the middle, and we went to Chic Fil A during that time period, so we didn't need to eat after. So, it worked out well. Also, I think Roger is still more tired from his surgery than he wants to admit. He starts PT in about a week.

Vicky @vickyday yes, I've sure heard that saying but had no idea about the history - that was SO interesting. There is normally a "history" behind those sayings, and that one really makes sense. Chris @faerywings "slim pickins'" is appropriate for an empty fridge, for sure. One of my friends, years ago, used to say "if the Good Lord's willing and the devil don't interfere". That's close to the creek don't rise.

I'd better get off of here and go do something - I just came back in from watering my ferns - that may be the extent of my productivity today. :giggle4:
