Happy weekend!! I hope that everyone slept late and is enjoying a cup of something warm. I didn't sleep so good myself. Lots of tossing and turning. :eek:hwell: It is cloudy out there right now but should get sunny and near 70* if the weather forecasters are correct. Gary offered to set up some chairs on the little patio we have so I can read outside. I also want to get the windows open and get some fresh air. It looks like my forsythia is blooming too! It is gonna be a good day!

Or maybe not. Gary had me listening to this very bizarre song from the 1960's "Tie Down Me Kangaroo, Sport" - *very* bizarre song. His uncle had reel to reel tapes and this was on one that was taped off a radio show in the early '60s. It had added sound effects and laugh tracks like a morning DJ show, maybe? I don't know, it is just very strange and repetitive and if I have it stuck in my head all day, it isn't gonna be a good day! hahaha!

My mom and I had a nice time at lunch. We went to the diner around the corner from me and it felt good to be out of the house for an hour. I did a bit more work on the puzzle and then we watched TV after dinner. Not much excitement but a decent day.

Hope that you all had a nice day yesterday and an even better one today!

Jean- :rip: Surface desktop. Here is to a new faster and bigger one! We set the house so cold trying to keep the oil bills down, not that it works all that well, but I guess it is better than nothing. Standing and walking around is usually how we do puzzles here too- better to look at the big picture IMHO. But I will do what I can do sitting down.
Hope that your weather turns out as good as out will be.

Kay- whew, must be a relief to be feeling better today. I do hope that your trip to the store didn't wipe you out too much.

Rae- Hi hon!! Good luck with the old scrapbook supplies- are you selling or donating? Still hobbling around here but better than I was :)

Karen- All three of my dogs need baths but only Whisky is good about it. And even she needs two people to keep her *in* the tub. Does Joey run around like crazy as soon as he gets out?

Have fun!!

good morning - well yesterday did not go as planned. My DH wondered why Luther kept sleeping in cold places and I said his ear is bothering him. My DH went to clean it and there was lots of junk so an early morning trip to the vet which is never fast. Of course an ear infection and mucho money later after blood work, ear cleaning and medicine he was good to go. Then had to drop DH at train station for work. And omgosh Luther went crazy. He did not understand why he did not get to go too. He barked and barked. When we got home he went looking for DH and he even went outside to find him, thinking he would come in the back gate (at least that is what I am assuming LOL). Finally he gave up and spent the rest of the day sleeping. I was going to take him out but I think he needed to sleep. Beside it decided to rain. It was light rain but still. Had pizza for dinner and it was delish! Then spent the night watching hockey. This is a great time of the year. The games were crazy. Now this am the women's hockey semi finals are on. And more hockey all day and night. I will be off soon to the pool for more rehab. Got another page done on trip and need to upload. And then scrap more.

Chris glad to hear that spring is coming your way! We should be in the 70s if the sun comes out but even now it is in the 60s. Lunch with your mom sounds awesome. And isn't it great to be out! And I know that song. I used to sing it all the time. And it is a weird song but catching tune! Hope you get to read outside!

Kay glad you are feeling some much better. Our bodies really do talk to us if we are willing to listen. Bet if felt great to get out for the quick errand.

Jean sure hope your weather is warm like ours. I am glad most of the rain is going north or staying south. But the wind is from the south that is helping warm us. That is the pits about the surface pro dying. But enjoy the new one! And you are a great reminder to make sure stuff is backed up!

Rae so happy for you that you have settled in on your perfected schedule. Hope you get some good news about B soon. Have fun with Taz.

Karen I know what you mean about dogs and baths. Luther is too big to fit in a shower or our tub and stay there. He would make the house a mess afterwards. But they have a great groomer at his doggie day care so we have them do it! Even then he does not come home dry LOL.

Waving to all! Have a great day!

Morning O-zies!! I was totally MIA yesterday! It was another busy day with my DH still home and the weather was lovely so we spent most of the day outside. Got all the weeding done and DH cut both lawns and now the yards look so nice. I spent some time varnishing a couple of my paintings and now I need to get them in my Etsy Shop. I am thinking that I might also start up a store on Shopify too, but need to see what that will cost me. MIL and FIL stopped by to pick up some wine that we had bottled for them. Poor MIL is in a lot of pain as she has a pinched nerve in her shoulder and can hardly move her arm. She is planning on having everyone for Easter Dinner next weekend and wants to cook a big turkey with all the fixings. I don't know how she is going to do that in the shape that she is in?? We all offer to help, but nope, she will not accept and I think we have all given up on ever getting her to. Guess all we can do is offer, the rest is up to her! Anyway today is grocery shopping and I really hope to get some scraping done. It will be a rainy day so will most likely be stuck in the house for the whole weekend. DH cooked burgers last night on the BBQ, they were so good :hungry: I can still taste them!! Yumm!! I always do up some bacon and mushrooms to add to the burgers, I think it is my favourite meal!!
hamburgersmile3f-vi-smiley.gif
Mine is without the bun of course LOL. Tomorrow night we will go to our fav restaurant for my birthday dinner out, so looking forward to that also! Always love it when I don't have to cook!! I already got my present from my Gary, it arrived in the mail yesterday. A DNA kit from Ancestry and it is all ready to send in the mail. I will waiting to see what the results are and it will be fun to compare to my sister's results!

Chris - It makes me happy to hear that your weather is warming up and that you may be able to open up your windows and get that fresh air! I hope that you can get outside to sit in the sunshine and read! Oh I have also heard that song before! I can remember my Mother singing it as she was tidying up the house. Then the rest of us would have it stuck in our heads all day long! Enjoy your day in sun
sun-smiley.gif

Nancy - You are going to be glued to the TV with all the hockey that is on right now! Wasn't the Bruins game a disappointment!! They really did not look like they even wanted to try to win! Sure hope tonight's game is a bit more exciting! Poor Luther having an infection in his ear! Glad that you got him to the Vet right away, but ouch on the cost! So he must be pretty prone to having ear troubles? Is that something that Shepherds seem to get a lot? Have fun with your scrap pages today! I really need to get to the gallery and see them!

Jean - Sorry to hear that your Surface died!!
dead-thread-smiley.gif
We will all say a prayer for you and hope that you will get it replaced very soon! Hope there was not anything that was really important to you on it that you can't get back!

Kay - Hope that you were able to sleep in a bit later than 4am! That is way to early to start the day! Happy to hear that you are feeling better and that your throat is not so scratchy! Did you make it to the grocery store yesterday? I bet it felt good to get out of the house for a bit!

Rae - Have fun at the craft, garage sale! You are getting rid of stuff and I will be getting a bunch this summer, not sure where the heck I will put it all? My craft room is bursting at the seams already with painting supplies LOL. You seem to be adjusting to your new schedule and I hope that you are less stressed and happy!

Karen - Your Joey sounds like quite the little character! I wonder why he likes to curl up around your computer wires?? Hope you found something fun to do outside yesterday! Looks like it was our last nice day for a while, with rain for the whole weekend and next week :rain: Glad we got all the yard work done yesterday!

Well DH is finally getting out of bed, so I guess I should put on a fresh pot of coffee and get busy with our day! Have a great one!

Thanks for condolences on my late computer! I'm going to make do over the weekend and try to get a new one next week. Meanwhile I'm working on three of my "mental landscape" drawings, one of which is a class project but the others begun in some stage months ago. And today is our 51st anniversary. Unlike last year, no plans for this one other than enjoying being together.

Chris, sure hope you get outside for some sun today! Seems like you are doing better on the not overdoing stuff but sorry your sleep wasn't so restful. I can only vaguely recall that song, but I know I heard it in the past.

Nancy, oh poor Luther. Having all that problem with his ear and then "losing" your DH too. Good thing you have therapy between all that hockey watching. We saw some of the Jackets game last night in a decisive 2nd win. Guess I hope they do as well at home though I'm really not a fan of theirs but our AHL team is their affiliate now.

Trudy, you got lots done in the yard and just in time. But how nice to have weather that let you be out doing it and then BBQ burgers as well. Bet your MG is enjoying his new vision too. Don't forget to give us a link to your Etsy store as I'd love to window shop there.

Have a good one folks!

The morning is over with already... so I am late getting in here again. Yes, I did sleep in a bit this morning - 6 AM is much better than 4 AM!! I got the towels in the laundry ... usually do them right after I finish my clothes... but this week not much got done when I usually do stuff.

Yes, it was good to get out to the stores yesterday. Was still nippy out with a strong breeze - but alternated being having the car heat on then off with window down... then back again & back to heat. Thought the bread store was out of dinner rolls and there were none on the shelf. The clerk looked in back and found them for me. She was so sweet to take the time to look. Plus they were on sale!!! And I got some fresh fruit for the salad for tomorrow. So it was worth getting out of the house. But was very happy to be back home so I could rest some more.

Talked to DD#3 today and she was down with the crud, too. But, she is like me... feeling much better now. Her oldest son came down with it on Friday. DD#3, hubby and youngest son will be coming here for dinner tomorrow - but not the oldest and his fiance. DD#1, hubby, and DGD and family will also make it. We will be talking about the family dinner on Easter.

Chris, I know I am showing my age as I remember that song well. It was a hoot... and yes, it sticks in your brain! Have to LOL over using music to get the kids to help clean house. I used to play a reel to reel tape of the Kingston Trio - "Tom Duley" was the 1st song. As soon as the kids hear it start, they knew it was cleaning day. Sure saved a lot of moaning and groaning from them. Glad to hear your weather might be warm enough to air the house out.

Nancy, so sorry about your dog's ear infection then him looking for "dad" when you got home. Enjoy your hockey broadcasts.

Trudy, enjoy your Birthday dinner out. I always told DH I loved not having to cook on my Birthday! Glad things are moving along on getting more paintings ready for the shop.

Jean, so sorry about your table dying. Hope you are able to find a new computer soon. Hope you managed to save all your scrapping stuff and get it transferred to the new one. I love my EHD that backs up automatically for me. Happy Anniversary!!! Hope you have many more!!!

Karen, I could just see your dog running around while wet! DD#1 had 2 that were like that - shaking water all over everyone and everything. I hear you about getting some covers for the computer wires.... especially since he likes to sleep on them. Bet he just wants to be by his momma.

My get-up and go has got-up and went... so I am going to have a bite to eat and then maybe take a nap. CYL

Happy birthday, Trudy!!!

How are all of the O-Fam today? I am feeling better every day, my ankle is feeling a lot stronger too. I think that last week, I knew subconsciously that it wasn't really ready, but it does this week. I am also so much less tired. The fatigue was worrying me. A Lyme relapse is always in the back of my head.

I never did make it outside to read but instead, I went with Cait to run a couple of errands. She asked me to go look at some hair dye. She is going on a cruise with Brendan, his mom, and brother in May. She wants to freshen her color up a bit but I have no ideas. :noidea: We did that and I picked up the first DVD of Outlander from the library. How silly of me to not think of that a few weeks ago. Gary and I watched the first three episodes last night. I don't think that he is all that into it but he falls asleep a lot when we watch tv anyway. heh.

I finished a LO that I had been working on for a few days and Vera gave it a Standing O- that was so sweet! We worked on the puzzle a bit too.
Same stuff happening today.

Have a happy day today!

Nancy- poor Luther! Does he scratch at his ear a lot or do you know that it is bothering him when he lies on cold places? That is too cute about him barking at the train station. My girls get all excited when they see us getting to go out for a while, they think they are going for a ride. All that hockey must keep you very happy. we got to about 70* yesterday. I was disappointed though. Scott got me this really cute Disney Villain black Pleather jacket for Christmas. It has been too cold to wear it so I put it on yesterday and it turned out to be too warm haha!!!!
That is wild that you know that song!

Trudy - Happy birthday again! Your yard must be looking so pretty! And you all got so much done between yard work and painting. Good for you!
I was fascinated at how different my kids' DNA turned out, it will be neat to see your's compared to your sister's. It felt so good to get the windows opened yesterday.
And you know that song as well. Crazy!

Jean- HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! 51 years is truly an accomplishment! Love the avi- beautiful you and beautiful colors.
were you able to get work done on your drawings?

Kay- what a relief to be able to sleep later. That was sweet of the clerk to look for you for the rolls, a lot of time people can't be bothered.
Yuck about everyone getting sick, but maybe that means everyone will be in perfect health for Easter. Enjoy dinner with them today!
Gary spent some time looking for the song and info on it on the internet-- turns out that it was a #1 in Australia. Even The Wiggles did a cover of it.

At least it isn't stuck in my head anymore. OTOH, I have "Don't Worry, Be Happy" in it right now. Gary brought home that Singing Fish plaque that was popular a decade ago from his uncle's. He is trying to make me :loco:

I was just pouring my 2nd cup of coffee when I hear a 'whooshing' sound outside. Looked out in front and nothing was there. Then looked out the back window and watched a hot air balloon floating over the backyard - then drifting off to the north. It was about 100' up. Looked around and more balloons were in the air. Brrrr... there is frost on the rooftops and cars so I wouldn't want to be in one. It is only 35 right now. Yes, we have balloons year round and many times they are flying right over our house. Love it on most holidays as lots of them fill the skies. Never get tired of seeing them.

Need to grab a quick shower [as soon as the house temp warms up] then get the cabbage rolls put together. They need to cook 4-5 hours to get the best flavor. I will be spending lots of time in the kitchen today.

Hope you all have a good day.

It's gray and cooler today and rained at some point but the goldfinches coming to the feeder and all the daffodils are cheerful.

Chris, thanks for the compliment on the avi! I wanted new pix with my slightly thinner face to make a new one so DH took some when we went out yesterday. So good to hear you're feeling better and stronger. Is Cait wanting hair other than Goth black? That would be interesting. Maybe red or purple top tones? ;) And that jacket will be just right one of these days as spring can never make up its mind. I did work on the earliest started drawing and I think it is almost done. Turned out not to be as good as I thought back when and needed help.

Kay, also good to hear you are getting better and the rest of the family also so you'll be able to enjoy Easter together. You've got lots of work to get in for today's dinner but it will surely be worth it.

Hope everyone is having a good spring.

good day - yesterday was beautiful and so is today. In my NJ we got up to 77 and Luther and I had a great walk. I got my exercises in first and then the walk so it was so nice to be outdoors. And yes watched hockey. Three games went to OT. The late game I could not stay up for so I missed that OT. Lots of over the lines play was had so suspension will be doled out. That is too bad. Watched the US women win their game and today they go for the Gold medal against the home team the Finns. The Finns are really good and played a tough game the first time they met in this tournament. Hoping the Islanders can defeat the Penguins. They have won enough LOL. Time for some new team. My son was nice and for breakfast got us bagels. Such a nice surprise. Our walk with Luther this morning was so fun. Everything is in bloom. We walked around a near by lake (pond) and turtles were out sunny themselves and mallards and lots of robins. Luther loves to chase robins and my DH is constantly telling him no but it is a soft no while when I walk with Luther it is a hard no so he does not chase them with me but he wants to I can tell. Any way the walk was 1.7 miles one of the longest I have taken. Of course it is the non repaired knee that gives the most problem. But the new knee is doing great!

Chris so glad you are doing so well. Did you wake to fog? It is pretty cool but then the sun came out but now cloudy again. Funny how coat is now to hot! Luther lets us know by do a lot of head shakes but he does not scratch his ear at all. Weird. But I think because he is allergic to so many things I think he will always get infections. It is impossible to keep him from dandelions or dust mites in the house. I think he would have to live in a bubble to keep him from infections. That is awesome for Cait to being going on a cruise. Hope she finds a new color. It is so funny that you looked up more info on that song. I think I liked it because of all the animals it mentioned.

Kay that is something that you all had the crud. I am so glad that you all are feeling better. My sister went up in a hot air balloon as it was on her bucket list. She loved it but said never do it again. In NJ we have a balloon festival around the 4th of July. They are so cool when they are all in the air. Have a great dinner and enjoy the cabbage rolls.

Trudy Happy Birthday! Wow that Boston/Toronto game had everything. Congrats to Boston for winning. Should be an interesting next game! Glad you had such a fun dinner with your hubby and how special he got you a DNA test. You will have to let us know how you and your sister match!

Jean congrats on 51 years. That is really special and I love that you two are still having a good time together!

Have a great day all!

:hello: ladies!! Thanks so much to all of you for my Birthday Wishes!! I love my O-family so very much!! I am now 63 yrs old ... but I feel better now than I did 5 years ago! Changing my eating habits and giving up sugar and grains has changed my life!! I am late getting in here as I have been bombarded with phone calls and txt messages this morning, but it is nice bombardment!! Guess that's what happens when you come from a large family! So nice to connect with my siblings and cousins! Unfortunately one bad thing happened last night as I was baking a casserole for supper, my darn wall oven gave up the ghost on me! :gaah: it never ends!! It has been acting wonky for a while now, with the door locking up on me when I go to take something out of the oven, but last night it totally died on me!!
dead-thread-smiley.gif
So now we will have to go on the hunt for a new one, uggh they are not cheap either!! Thank goodness I have the toaster/oven that I can use in the meantime! Had a wonderful time watching the Bruins kick some Maple Leaf butt last night, sure hope that they play that well again next game! I think the whole neighbourhood heard us cheering LOL. Tonight is Game of Thrones and so we will be glued to the TV to watch that later on.

Please forgive me for not doing personals ladies, but I have so much to do today and now have to help DH with a few things he wants done too. Looking forward to going out for dinner though! Thanks again for all the wonderful birthday wishes you are all the best!!
