CHEERY O
OMG, I slept until 6.30 and it was *amazing!* I did wake up once, but thankfully was able to get back to sleep. Gary slept out on the couch to make sure he didn't wake me, but I hate when he does that. Makes me sad.

I had a pretty good BP day yesterday and didn't start shaking until mid-afternoon. That is a good sign. OTOH, my liver enzymes are elevated and my LLMD is having me take a break from my meds, retest on Monday and go from there.
The new med combo seems to be helping so of course my liver would hate me for it. SHEEEESH! I went through this when I was on IV Claforan, so I am sure that I just need a break and a reset.

Scott is doing really well, much better than I expected. When I had my teeth out, the first day or so I could barely move around. I guess that is youth for ya. He is swollen pretty good on the one side, but the other side, just barely. He even ate some salmon for dinner.
Cait did well at work too-- she got $17 in tips. Last week she got $.75! The counter girls split the tips and some days people are much more generous than others. It's so odd to me, I always ignored the Tip Jars on counters like at Dunkin Donuts, b/c well- that is there job, I order coffee, you bring me coffee. I had no idea that most of those places pay at "wait staff" levels, which is way under minimal. I think Cait gets $4 an hour, plus tips. So when she works and only gets $.75, it sucks!

Fourth or fifth time is the charm on the headband I was crocheting. I have no idea how many times I ripped it out and restarted it, but I finished it yesterday. It is the right length, but kind of wide for Cait's tiny head. But who cares! I am not ripping it out again. LOL

we are supposed to *finally* get some nice weather this weekend, and I can't wait to get outside, at least for a tiny bit.

Any fun weekend plans?

QOTD- What decorations/foliage do you have in your yard? We have several small gardens, a small pond/fountain set up that we used to have some fish in, but animals kept eating them. Gary has a fab set up for tomatoes and some other veggies and we have to get some of that started soon too. Our kale is already looking good, and we have some onions and garlic popping up.
I'd love to see a picture if you have any :)

Laurie- eep! I hope that you get a hold of the camera place and it is all good.

Trudy- sorry to snicker a teeny tiny bit about your weather :) JK!! Thank you for the chalk pain link! It looks like so much fun. Once I get painting stuff, it is hard for me to stop. I'd better watch it or my whole house will be chalkboard!
Horrible about your SIL's arthritis, but hopefully if she gets ahead of it, it won't progress as badly.
Smokers do the craziest things, I am glad I had stopped smoking when I had mine done b/c I would have probably done the same. There goes another one! :flypig:

Sharon- I use my phone ca,era a lot, but my biggest problem is trying to get my hand to not shake. Most of my pics come out blurry. Do you have any tips on that? At least with my DSLR, there is some weight to it and I can stabilize it better.
Glad your bum is ok! LOL
Woo hooo and the steps fwd for your DS!!

Astrid- I would love to have a balcony to sit on and get sun! Totally jealous!!
The soft food for a month is b/c there was so much trauma to the gum getting the one bottom tooth out. They had to break it into pieces and it was pretty solidly in the bone. That stinks about your DD needing to get them done too.

Hope that you all have a fab day!

Morning Chris and the rest of the O fam- my plans- outside as much as possible- my lawn mower is being returned after a tune up and break job- just in time for the haircut my lawn needs. I love mowing lawn, however as I consider moving to a new area I wonder if I could enjoy condo/adult community living where someone else mows for you. Also I have some freezer rearranging to do, new meat coming today that needs a new home.

In answer to the question about wisdom teeth- when I had braces put on in college, I learned that I had smaller than average teeth, smaller than average jaw size (they matched) and no wisdom teeth ever grew!

Chris, it must be something in the atmosphere...I slept in until almost 7 this morning (with, of course, one or two "small room" visits in the night!).

As to shooting steady with your phone camera, I have a couple of suggestions. First off, use something or someone to rest your camera on when shooting. That will limit the angles you can shoot from, but you probably don't crawl around on the ground to get shots anyway. I've used DH's shoulder...a railing...a car roof...etc. I have even used my own knee! Another thing to try is shooting in burst mode. On my phone I just touch and HOLD the shutter button. It will take about 10 photos in quick succession. Of those, you might find one that is in decent focus. Finally, the obvious one. Get a tripod. They make some very small (inexpensive) tripods just for phones. I still don't have one because most of the shots I take are spontaneous, not stuff I would take time to set the camera on the tripod for. Plus, I don't want to haul a tripod around.

Glad Scott is doing so well...and CONGRATS on the crocheting accomplishment! WOOT!

Laurie, I have a friend IRL who loves to mow the lawn. I never "got" that! LOL But then I don't enjoy yard work of any kind. I love sitting on the patio LOOKING at it, but that's it.

Which leads to the QOTD: We have a cozy private, but not huge, back yard. My favorite part of it is right off the patio (and visible from my garden-box kitchen window). There is a huge OLD redwood, and at its "feet" a fern garden grows lush and green, and further out under the shade of its branches a few trilium bloom for a short while each year. The edges are decorated with Lily of the Valley and a few hostas. I would take a picture, but just last week DH trimmed the ferns back, and the new growth is only just beginning to pop out.

Gray ol' day here. Perfect for Tagging. LOL No bike ride today.

Morning ladies... This really must be the day to sleep in, because I just crawled out of bed at 9am!!!! I almost fainted when I saw the time :faint: However I did toss and turn trying to get back to sleep from 3am til around 5ish. Ugh!! But the sun has decided to peek out for a bit right now and fresh snow is on the mountain tops, it was chilly last night perhaps that is why I slept so late??? :noidea:

Chris - My Gary gets up at 5:30 every morning and that is when I have my best sleep, when he is not in the bed. I don't know why, we have a huge king sized bed and I rarely even know that he is there with me during the night, but for some reason the time between 530 and when I wake up is the most restful. :loco: Aren't you so glad that you quit smoking?? It was the best thing I ever did for myself!! I can't believe I had that nasty habit for so many years and I do not understand how anyone can even afford to smoke anymore?? :sorry: to anyone reading this who still smokes, but us reformed smokers are the worst!! :becky:

Laurie - It is so nice that you love to cut the grass, I think I might enjoy it if I had a riding lawn mower to do it with!! Are you and DH thinking of moving to a condo? Have fun rearranging your freezer, a job that I should also be doing, but not today!!

Sharon - Your backyard sounds very nice Sharon!! I love the way the ferns grow here on the West Coast!! I also love that we can have so many plants that were not available to us on the Prairie because of the Nasty long winters! My Azaleas are just about ready to bloom, they are my fav's !! Hope the sun comes out for you again this weekend and you get to do some more bike riding!! I am jealous!! I would love to start biking again!

Astrid - Hope you are enjoying the terrace and soaking in the warmth of the sun again today!! Too bad your DD has to also have her wisdom teeth removed!! Ouch!!

Ok ladies I am late getting my breakfast and my tummy is growling away!! We are off to do some food shopping and then I need to clean a bit as my Brother and Sister-In-Law are coming for supper tomorrow. I haven't gotten together with my Brother since they arrived back from Auzzie land. Looking forward to hearing all about their time away!!

QOTD - I have lots of things in my backyard, a Pagoda and some garden signs on the fence a couple of little statues and a birdbath. My back fence is lined with many plants and bushes all perennials and then along the other side where the house is I have rose bushes and flox.
Along the rock wall we have Japanese maples and butterfly bush. I think we went a bit nuts with all the plants because we could not grow them in Sask. but there was also nothing in our backyard when we bought this place.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!! Do something you love today!!

Trudy, we are just thinking of moving closer to the business we are running as it is 2 hours away. If we moved hubby could be home every night!

Good morning and happy happy Sunday! The sun is shining, and although it is cold -- 34* up from 28* when I got up, but it is supposed to get to 60*!!!! So excited!
My goal today is to work on the front garden. I can't wait to get rid of the leaves and see some green underneath!! I also got tulips from my parents last week and they are going to go in the ground too. I hate that I have such little "full sun" space, but I am sure there will be a good place somewhere. So far, it looks like one of my perennials isn't going to make it and this one makes me sad. I had gotten it from the Cancer Center last year, and it bloomed until a hard frost. I will leave it where it is and I hope it will come back. It feels wiggly though, like a loose tooth. My other perennials that are still brown, they at least feel solid, if that makes sense. Maybe it just needs more time.

Other than that, I am just doing some puttering. My parents are coming up tomorrow afternoon for a quick visit. Scott requested Italian Wedding soup from her. At least I know what we will be having for dinner tomorrow night!

I hope that you all have a wonderful day!

Laurie- Awesome to get your mower back! I can't even think about the lawn mowing. I have to get all of the road grit removed from the grass. It is covering the grass completely in some spots. A lot of spots. ugh. Very lucky about the wisdom teeth!

Yay for good sleeping to you too Sharon!
Thank you for the tips of phone shooting. I use the burst/best shot as well. I should be better about propping my camera on something solid. I tend to forget about that.
Your back yard sounds so peaceful. I love ferns- my parents house in PA is in the woods and I have brought some home, some of them took, some of them didn't. One of these days, I am going to have to go back for some more.

Trudy--9am!! Wow!!!! That is awesome, even if you tossed and turned for a while before. I don't know at all how people can afford cigarettes now. When I quit, I think packs had just gone up to $2. Now, what are they? $8? Crazy amount. And I used to smoke up to 2 packs a day! (Stoooooooopid!) I don't spend that much a day on food for myself/ (or my family for that matter LOL)
I am jealous about your azaleas. Mine usually bloom mid-May, but I think it will be much later this year. I hope that you post some mews pics of your yard- I remember your clematis pics, and just wow- they were stunning!

love to all!
