I slept until 6.30 this morning. That was after going to sleep around 9.30 pm. What an exhausting week. Thank goodness that I slept like a rock, I needed it.

If you haven't had to wait in a car for three hours while your DD is having a surgical procedure that you know nothing about, you have not lived!
th

I thought it was bad when I was waiting for Gary with his colonoscopy. This was much worse. The only thing that was easier is that she said that it wasn't anything scary and that she was not anxious for the most part. While I was waiting, Gary texted me which made me jump, then while I was texting him back, the phone rang and I jumped again, But that was only for information about my car's extended warranty. *eye roll*
She was cracking me up on the way home, she said that she wasn't loopy from any of the neds but yes, she was. Between that and getting all goofy talking about Tom (the new boyfriend) she was giggling all the way home which was good because it took almost an hour drive and I was worried that it was going to hurt. I got her upstairs and all settled in and helped bring ice packs and some food up to her. I checked in when I woke up and she said she was able to sleep most of the night.
Scott and Leah are in PA for the weekend since he starts his job this week (YAY!!!) and has no idea what his schedule is going to be like. it will be quiet here but that is exactly what I need.

What fun plans do you all have this weekend? Hope that whatever they are, you have a great time!

@taxed4ever What kind of goodies did you get at the craft store? I can't wait to hit the Dollar Stores again. I have to spend some time in the Gallery- I am going to look for your LO if you have it uploaded.

@scrap-genie That is such a nice idea that the Senior Center does. How were the picnic and birding? Did you get to see any standout birds?

@Cherylndesigns Sending you lots of good thoughts for the weather, hopefully, the winds will die down before it gets to you.

@BrightEyes So happy that you are feeling better, but I am bummed that it isn't 100% yet. I have a page in my head for ViVa's new kit that I want to work on, as well as so many others in the shop. Just need the time and brain power. It has to be hard to pace yourself when you see so many things you want to do. Thanks for the good thoughts!

@scrapinmom Oh how fun to watch the baby start to cruise! So exciting!!

@nancyr sending you some hugs from North Jersey! I am really sorry to hear that your guys are having rough times. It was much easier when we could solve their problems with a BandAid and some ice cream. Were you at Jenkinson's? The weather was really nice yesterday and I bet it was fun to be with the kids. Your DH is amazing!! Such a thoughtful thing to do- when is the game?? Oh wait, I see- tomorrow night. What a great weekend!!

Cheryl- fingers still crossed that the weather continues to improve, be safe!

@LSlycord I guess I didn't realize that you had so many years under your belt (is that a more polite way to say that you are older than me?? :D I am going to be 53 in June but I feel like I am 103 most days). My brother was 45 when they adopted Christopher and all I could think was that I was way too old at 43 to be doing the baby thing. I am in awe of you!! But yes-- so worth it!

Hugs!!!

I skipped a genealogy meeting this morning to sleep a little later and soon we're going birding again. Yesterday was incredible. The picnic idea was perfect as it was sunny and warm with some good birds to watch. We saw several loons, a couple close in. They are on their way north. Tree swallows flew west along the lake in small numbers and even one flicker (a kind of woodpecker). And more! It will cool off tonight, so it just seems crazy not to be out.

@Cherylndesigns Cheryl, thanks for the tip on the emojis. Turns out I didn't know as that doesn't work in my usual browser, so I'm doing this in Edge where it does. Some other things are now showing up too. Sure hope your weather doesn't get too crazy. BiL is out today with part 2 of assisting with a field trip of an ornithology class and I believe they are in your area.

Gotta go as DH is ready.

Good morning ladies. It's been a busy wk as it always is now with Remi in our lives. It's been a week off meds and we are going to leave her be for a few months if appetite, potty and eating remains well. The abnormal blood work could just be the residual leftover infection that is healing, causing autoimmune response. It is starting to look like we got lucky, she probably doesn't have Addison's. She acts and looks completely normal. The IV site wound hole that looks so nasty these last few wks is finally closing up. She's such a trooper, just stands there and lets me poke and prod with the antiseptic and then the honey smear over it. She doesn't even care that she wears t-shirts 24/7. She's such a joy. She is going to bed around 10 and wakes up 0 or 1 time in the night now to go out, then gets me up around 6 but I let her fuss for 10-15 minutes, not wanting to respond too quickly to her request to get up. She has to learn to amuse herself a bit. She's smart and I am confident she will have good bedtime habits soon. I put a wire crate in the closet so she has a little private area in the bedroom.

She has learned sit, down, stand (the hardest for her) and come. We play ball 3-4 times a day (throwing down the hallway to wear off excess energy). Today Bella is coming for a playdate and then later I will take her out to the tennis court to throw the ball around.

@faerywings A good book if you haven't read it (thriller/mystery) is After All I've Done by Mina Hardy. Finished it this morning and really enjoyed it.

Got my first vaccine yesterday. Other than a bit of headache and chills along with a really sore shoulder/arm, it was not a big deal at all. Today I feel fine except for a sore arm but that is much better too. They say 4 mths til the 2nd shot now.

Later I hope to make some gluten free cookies. I've been craving outmeal cookies lately. I get automatic delivery every 6 wks of little packaged servings of plant based sauces that I just need to reheat for a few minutes (thai, chili and mac&cheese sauces). Tonight I'm going to make mac & cheese with broccoli and tofu and D can have salad and chicken. I also want to get a few easy crockpot recipes for D as he's probably tired of the burgers, pasta and chili I've been making for him. I haven't used the crockpot in ages, I forget about it.

@scrap-genie Sounds like a great time. I miss our wildlife park here, it's been closed since last year but hope that it opens up this year again.

I'm getting another coffee and getting on with my day. Hope you all enjoy the wkend.

Happy Saturday all!

My dd and gd called me a little while ago and wanted to know if I wanted to go to Muskogee with them. I was barely awake and hadn't had a full cup of coffee yet. They just dropped Lila off and wow - they both looked like a million bucks. Had their cowboy boots on, make up and jewelry. I said "what are you two up to?" I guess they were going to some "fancy" boutique and wanted to look "fancy". HA! I would have gone in my baseball cap and hooded sweatshirt. They could have acted like they picked me up on the corner. BWAHAHAHA

We didn't get any horrible weather last night. It howled and thundered and rained like crazy and we did have hail. It's still scary. We're out here in the middle of nowhere and up on a hill where the wind whips all the time. SIL has been in Florida all week, but gets back tonight.

I'm attaching a meme that I found yesterday when I was going through my old pictures. I used to collect them if I found one that was pertinent. This one is SO me and when my daughter asked me if I wanted to leave in 30 minutes, I texted it to her.

Jean @scrap-genie I've attached a picture for you. My "gears" sitting on my porch the day I brought them home. My husband said they're fly wheels that make the car go. LOL They looked like gears (steampunk @faerywings Chris) to me. I also got an old horseshoe and a huge spike that they used when they laid the railroads.

Chris @faerywings I can just see Cait after the dental surgery. It does suck to have to wait and now that they make you wait in the car - UGH. I would have taken my laptop and tried to jump on somebody's wifi. At least I can try to scrap. Actually, you don't even need wifi for PS and PSE. I can't stand to just sit! I always take my Kindle, too. Glad Cait got along well.

I'm going to run and try to get my chores done. I'm just about re-organizing my closet. I've been working on it for a week and I think I have a chunk of a couple of hours before I get interrupted by anybody, so I better get cracking.

Waves to all.

Morning, gals. Cooler today - only in the mid-60's but at least the winds have died down to a gentle breeze. Waiting for the house to warm up so I can take my shower. Had a good day yesterday - got all my laundry (6 loads) done and everything put away. I even skipped taking a nap yesterday afternoon! Whoo-whee! Nice to be feeling more normal again. DD#1 called to let me know that she had a reaction to her 2nd shot... bad headache that has lasted over 48 hours along with body aches and pains. It is improving but slowly. But we agreed that it is worth it to have the protection.

Oh, Chris... 3 hours waiting in the car!!! Hope you had a book to read to help pass the time. Glad Cait came through the procedure okay. Bet you got a chuckle over her saying she wasn't loopy from meds when it was obvious she was.

Cheryl, I hear you about how scary bad thunderstorm and hail is. We have had our share of those here. So glad we have a garage where I keep the car during those times. We have from small to golf-ball to baseball size hail over the years. Glad you stacked the shutters and other things so they were weighted down during the storm. I had to move some of the heavy patio chairs up against the house to keep them from blowing over. Thought the patio swing was going over but I wasn't going out when it was blowing that strong. Had to LOL over your meme.... there are days that I feel like that!

Linda... what a surprise that you have been to Branson. DD#2's house is on a hill over-looking Kimberling Lake. They are moving their furniture and stuff in today. Hope the wifi install went okay yesterday as she needs it by Monday... she works from home 5 days a week. Oh, wow.... you earned you MOM star getting the kids when you did. Way to go, gal!!!

Rae, so glad to hear Remi is doing better and that it might be a residual from the infection. Yes, a puppy is like having a new born baby and needing lots of care to begin with. So glad you got your 1st shot finally. Hope you find time to bake some cookies.

Well, the house temp is warm so need to get my shower. CYL

good evening - we had a fun day. The weather started out with rain and clouds but I knew that when we headed to Pt. Pleasant (Jenkinson Boardwalk) we were going to be inside at the aquarium and arcade shops. Well by the time we got to the beach the sun came out. So glad as it was cool without sun. There were 10 of us as the Jackie's brother, wife and 2 kids joined us. Jackie is amazing at the claw game and won 2 stuffed toys for the kids without spending a fortune. Joey and I played skeet ball. Too fun. The aquarium was really nice. They had quite a few different species. Not expecting to see penguins or a seal. They also had a screech owl and a python. Then we ate lunch and we headed home. The rest stayed to ride rides. My DH came home and took a nap pretty funny! It is interesting to me how different families have different interests. My DH and I are more into walking and exploring outdoors so that is what we did with the kids while Jackie's family spent a lot of time at the beach and board walk. Took Luther on a good walk when we got back and OMgosh the magnolias, cherry blossoms, forsythias and more are blooming. The walks are just gorgeous.

@faerywings Chris I had to sit twice when my DH had his cataracts removed. It is boring but I did bring my phone which contains all my books but hard to just sit. Glad that she is ok and all good. I bet Scott and Leah are enjoying PA. I am sure you will be crying happy tears when you finally hug your mom.

@Cherylndesigns Cheryl loved the photo and meme. Glad the weather was just stormy but not horrible. It is the wind I hate. We rarely have hail. My sister saw a really bad hail storm that broke windows for the first time when we visited relatives in Eastern Colorado. She was shocked how bad it was. Bet you had fun with Lila.

@scrap-genie Jean how fun to be birding and picnicking. I love loons but we rarely see them. Today driving saw a red-tailed hawk just sitting in the top of tree. So cool. How is baseball going for your team? Yankees and Mets are sputtering along.

@bcgal00 Rae congrats on the vaccine. So glad the news on Remi is so positive. I bet all the dogs were tired after their play day. I wish that Luther was a fetch dog but he really does not enjoy it.

@BrightEyes Kay my sister in AZ said that they set a record for April days above 90 degrees. She is not ready for summer. Glad you cooled off. How wonderful you DD got her shot. I agree best to be safe.

Waving to all.

@faerywings I know...I do pretty good for an old lady at not acting my age. LOL

@BrightEyes it really is a small world. My dream was to live on a hill overlooking that lake. But dreams change as we get older. It sounds like you are back up and running...6 loads of laundry and no nap...that is high energy.

@bcgal00 Remi has just been such a sweetheart for you. The bonds that you are forming will be so deep. And I may pick up your book recommendation. So glad that you got the first vaccine. It really is nice to feel that progress.

@nancyr it sounds like yesterday was a great day. With all of those things blooming, it must be gorgeous! We do have things blooming here, but it doesn't seem as much like spring without the hardship of winter.

@scrap-genie sometimes sleeping in is the very best thing. I don't do it much...I'm the opposite of @Cherylndesigns and her meme. Catch me early morning or I will be too worn out to proceed. But when I do sleep in, I feel so good.

@Cherylndesigns my mom would have loved your gears. She and Dad were always out buying things like that. I can't wait to see the way your front porch looks when you are done.

Rainy Sunday morning here. So might be a good day to do some scrapping. I hope so. Because I am way behind.

Good morning and Happy Sunday! I slept until almost 6.30 again with only one or two anxiety-dreams. That is what I should call them, they are nightmares but man, I wake up anxious from them.
I didn't do too much of anything yesterday - mostly waited hand and foot on Cait. *G* She is feeling a lot better but still needs to stay in bed with ice packs on. She is funny though. (no particular reason, just makes me laugh with her ridiculousness.) I feel bad for the rats, they aren't using to not getting loads of attention so every time I walk into her room, they race to the front of the cage and hold on to the wires with their hands. All four of their noses twitching like mad! All they need are little tin cups to bang against the bars. hahaha!!

The weather was "meh" so I went out and cleared one small section of garden before it started to get drizzly. My poor rosemary had been covered by snow for so many months, I am not sure if it is going to come back. The lavender looks like it has some green branches so my fingers are crossed they both will be OK. One sage plant is good, the other one, not so good. We'll see. I don't give up on plants until it is obvious that it is good and dead. Add in a few more months, and *then* I will consider ripping it up. My family laughs at me for that.

In the afternoon I started a scrap page. I had an idea for one particular kit running through my head for a while but I wanted to wait until I had time to work on it. I should be able to finish that today. It is going to be rainy today so no yard work. Grocery prep and scrapping are about all I want to do. Want is actually not the right word for the food... Have to do... Blergh. I don't know if Scott is going to be home today or tomorrow. If he doesn't have to be home for any reason, they should stay in PA as long as they can.

Hugs!!

*waves hi to Linda* Good morning!

@scrap-genie The birding must have been amazing. It sounds like it really made you happy. Did you get any photos or was it just nice to be in the moment and watch?

@bcgal00 That would be incredible if Remi doesn't have Addison's. I am sending lots of good thoughts for you all!!! She must be a joy to be around, makes me so happy to hear that she is recovering well and that her personality is adorable! Whew!! She really sounds smart and I know how much attention you will give her. Are she and Taz still playing together too? And Bella- so much fun!
I added that book to my Want to Read shelf on Good Reads. I recently finished A Deadly Influence (Abby Mullen Thrillers Book 1) and thought it was very good.
Congrats on getting Vax #1!

@Cherylndesigns Too funny about the girls getting all dressed up to go shopping and you would have been in a baseball cap and hoodie if you had gone. Bet Daily and Lila were very content to have you home with them no matter what you looked like. *G* The weather sounds pretty intense but I am relieved it wasn't any worse. The meme made me chuckle. Me-- I am not a morning person or a night owl. I am more of an 11 am to 1 pm kind of girl.
I had my phone, my tablet with a book, and crocheting with me in the car. When I get anxious, I cannot concentrate. The weather was nice so I took a stroll around the parking lot but even that wasn't enough to keep my mind busy. Then I see weeds in the landscaping and I want to pull them but it wouldn't be too good to get arrested for trespassing...

@BrightEyes All hail, the Laundry Queen! Wow, that is a lot of laundry, you are good! And even better to hear that you are feeling back to normal. It seems that most people react to the 2nd dose. Hope that DD#1 is feeling much better by now. My headache was migraine-level bad so I feel for her.

@nancyr what a fun day you had with the family! Two wins on the Claw?? Jackie is good! I went down the shore with my brother and Christopher when he was little and they didn't even walk on the sand and all I wanted to do was see the ocean. It was so close but so far. hahaha. I have no patience for the games- just give me sand.
When we were in Paramus for Cait's surgery, we were amazed at how many more flowers bloomed there. My forsythia is blooming but that is it. Everything was so pretty and colorful there. I bet Luther is enjoying all of the new smells on the walks too.

Ok my lOves, I better get going. xoxo

@faerywings Chris - I KNEW you'd get a LOL out of my "hoodie and baseball cap" comment. No, the dogs don't give a rip what I look like. BWAHAHA I had to laugh when the girls walked in all "duded up". They only gave me about 45 minutes to get out of bed and be ready. I would have been lucky to have ANYTHING decent on. I move at a snail's pace in the morning.

Is ANYBODY here old enough to remember "Love At First Bite" with Susan St. James and George Hamilton? My favorite line in the whole movie was when "Dracula" George Hamilton asked Susan St. James to go away with him. He told her that if he bit her that she'd live forever. The only catch was that she could never come out until dark. The movie ended with him biting her on the neck and her saying "I don't get my s--t together until 6 PM anyway". BWAHAHA That is SO me.

Ava and I have been staining shutters this afternoon. I got too hot - it's almost 85 today and came in, but she was going to Dollar General to buy paint brushes. We got them all done but one. Not bad for an afternoon. They're all coming back for hubby's meatloaf dinner.

Kay @BrightEyes good for you - wow 6 loads!!! You have me beat. I'm crowing about 2 loads. But hey, I got all of them put away. I'm the queen of doing laundry but not putting it away. LOL

Linda @LSlycord I bet I would love your mom - I just love "random things". I'm attracted to the strangest things and love just wandering around - in fact, I love junk yards.

I'd better get ready for all of the kids to get here. Braden had his first prom last night and he is the #2 Master Debater" in the state of Oklahoma. We're very proud of him. I told him not to even THINK about "debating" around here, though. He was knocked out of the #1 spot yesterday by a senior and he's only a sophomore. I told him that he'd better put his "debating skills" to good use and become an attorney or something, since he has lofty goals about how much money he's going to have someday. I keep telling him that those things don't grow on trees.

Waving *hi* and group hug.
