Happy April! We are ringing it in here with April Showers. Our poor basement! I woke up hearing the surface pump running and to what I thought was a sleep app of running water for Gary who was in the LR. I saw the TV was on and heard running water so it was logical, right? I am not *always* coo-coo for cocoa puffs. Actually, he set up an old cell phone that was broken but still had a working camera to give him a video feed on the TV so he wouldn't have to keep running downstairs to see the water levels. He is genius.

I am sure that you are all wondering how the class went yesterday. I didn't think I did all that great but the girls liked it enough for me to be asked to do another one. They really want to make bath bombs which are a PITA to make but if that is what they want to do, I am game. The $$ was good too.
They girls were fun to be around. One was the DD of the woman I used to clean for who has MS and breast cancer and is a trip. I miss cleaning for her, she always made me laugh. The other girl was the DD of a teacher that my kids had in HS and I remember her being at the lake as a baby. I am so old! hahaha!!!

Now I have to get supplies ordered and set a date to make bath bombs. The good thing is that if these girls mess them up and they break, I don't think they will care as long as they get their hand "dirty."

Today, I have to pop into the food pantry for some staples. Then I have to finish NBK's challenge. I am having so much fun with that one, trying out a whole bunch of different techniques. But tomorrow is the last day so I had better finish that up. And since it is the first of the month, I have to post my Web Challenge too.

Better get going, I have a messy kitchen to clean. The homemade bread was a huge success but there crumbs everywhere.

xoxo!

Nancy- so sorry to hear that Patrik Elias is retiring. It is like a family member moving away. :(
But man, 40 years old and playing that hard of a game, I give him credit! I am 48 and it takes all I got to walk upstairs carrying a laundry basket.
How did the fish stew come out? Awesome that your friend signed up and got you a free week.
I cannot wait for the weather to get warm and dry so I can take Jaida to the dog park. It is always easy to talk to other dog owners. Like when I was a smoke- it was an ice breaker to ask for a lighter. But not very healthy!

Trudy- how was yard clean up with your sister? Is she the one who has the B&B? And she pays you too? That is crazy good for you!
That is a bummer that the kids have to pass on the house but if it needs that much work, it isn't worth it in the long run. BTDoingT! I am not sure why I thought the baby was due in May except that it seems like all babies in my fam were due in May LOL

Rae- Keep on bragging about the weight loss, you deserve that recognition. And it helps to know that you are people cheering you one, gives a sense of purpose when you have a bit of doubt, right? That is awesome about those pants. Good score on the beef too.
Hehe! Your romantic dates sound like ours. But as long as you are together

Sharon- hope things start to calm down by you- good to hear that DDs eyes are healing on schedule.

Good morning, ladies. It's a lazy day here. Taz and I are cuddling in my lazyboy and Darrell is in his. I've got lots of little things to do today. Bills, taxes, cleaning, groceries, photo editing and scrapping. I think we'll binge watch a show tonight. Thr pvr is almost full so need to watch and delete stuff. I'm leaning toward The Path, Once Upon A Time or Chicago Med. when scrapping, I don't want to watch anything too plot heavy.

Chris - I'm sure the girls loved your class. Bath bombs sound like a good class too.

I need to get my challenges posted so better get off my iPad and go fire up the computer.

I hope everyone is having a good morning.

good afternoon - had a busy morning. Went with my DH to walk Luther at a local park. WOW what an amazing amount of standing water. The little river became an huge river and it overflowed. It was the most water I had seen since the rain that comes with hurricanes. Luther was so happy prancing through the mud and mess. Of course I see him drinking the water which causes me and my DH to fight. He thinks the water is perfectly fine for him to drink and I think it is not and so we are at a stand off. It was funny as I was walking and we all were bundled up from chilly and damp and cloudy and very breezy weather and a man walks by and says can you believe this is April and I say yes an April fool joke on us. To be this cold is the pits. We are supposed to be getting sun the afternoon but not yet. My team played the NY Islanders in Brooklyn and lost 2-1. But it was not us losing to the Islanders we lost because the refs lost their cool. My team ended up being called for 10 penalties. Some of course were deserved but most no. And then when they do not call the same penalties on the other side it is just maddening. And so even with that many penalties my team still hung in their. The refs made it impossible for us to even pull our goalie by calling two penalties with less than two minutes to go. A disgrace. All I can say is Karma stepped in and John Taveres the Captain of their team ended up with a lower body injury. My team now has to go to Philly to play the Flyers. I just hope it is not the same officiating crew. Well the Italian fish stew was really good. Both of the boys liked it a lot. It had a nice bit of heat to it and on yesterday rainy day it was nice. The only thing that did not work out was the pizza bread sticks. I was to stretch it to fit into a pan and well that did not work but cooked it any way and tasted awesome.

Chris so glad you had such a great response from the girls. I had confidence! Bath bombs sound like fun and I bet they will love it. Getting hands dirty can be so fun. We had water in our basement and my backyard looked like a pond. Way too much rain! It is drying out nicely today though. Have fun scrapping!

Trudy hope you got the yard work done! I was worried that with so much rain trees might fall but so far so good. The wind here was and still is pretty fierce today. Sorry that the house did not work out. My DH looked at over 30 before we settled on our home. He did not go in all of them but he did look at photos and drive by them. I sure they will find their dream home.

Rae I totally love hearing how well the Keto diet is working for you. Makes me want to eat healthier and I think Blue Apron will do that. Congrats on being in the right place at the right time for the meat! $2 a meal is pretty great. Have fun with Taz and hope the weather holds!

Sharon glad that your daughter's eyes are healing well. Bummer about your roof. We have squirrels that are causing damage to ours. We are allowed to live trap but then they must be dropped off no more that 100 ft away. What good is that. I want them in the woods not at my house.

Have a great weekend all!

Happy, happy Sunday!!!! The sun is shining and it is supposed to get close to 60* this afternoon. Guess what I plan to do? I am going to 1. clean all of the dog poop that was hiding under the snow. and 2. clean up sticks and leaves and see how the spring plants are doing. I have some bulbs to plant and I guess with the ground being so saturated that will make it easier to dig.
Yay for dirt!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a decent time, puttering about yesterday. Not sure what I accomplished out of the ordinary, but I must have gotten some stuff done. I finished up my NBK challenge LO. I know I keep going on and on about how much fun it was but the last couple of months, I felt so uncreative that it felt awesome to play *and* like the results.

I need to get myself on track better because May and June are my 100% insane months and it is actually starting a bit early in April. I have three Drs appts this month and Cait wants/needs me to go to one of hers. She has to make the appt first, however, and she has been procrastinating. (Where does she get that from?)
If I don't get myself organized, May is going to hit me like a brick. ~> :brick:

That is about it from Sunny NJ (wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!).
Here is to a wonderful day to you all. :tea:

Rae- sounds like you had a nice relaxing day, did it turn out as planned? What did you decide to watch? Gary and I are almost done with another Netflix series, Frequency. Have you watched that? I think you would like it. It is about cops and two times lines and working together to solve a crime between the 2.
I think that the girls will like the bath bombs too, as long as we don't get too upset if they all crumble. :p

Nancy- this weather is ridiculous. I worry about the dogs drinking the water too but I don't know if there is a way to stop them. I have never had an issue with any of them but I don't want to chance it either.
10 penalties? What in the world is going on with the refs?
That is really cool about the fish stew coming out so good and that everyone liked it.

hugs to everyone who pops in!

Good morning, ladies. We were out most of the day yesterday so it just flew by. I was enjoying the morning, puttering, had a plan of things to do, having the house to myself as Darrell was out running errands. Then he calls and says to get ready, to bring my car into the shop for repairs. He had just talked to his guy that he always deals with, telling him about the car vibrating and shaking sometimes lately. So I headed over and they checked it all out, finding out that there was a big problem with the brakes, something was sticking and not rotating, seizing up after driving for 5 minutes or so. So it took all day but they got it fixed and I was happy they fit it in with their busy schedule for the day. Not happy with the cost but with an older car you have to expect it sometimes. Good news is the car is back to running perfectly. The fellow was amazed at my 70,000 clicks on an 8 yr old car.

Then we spent the afternoon taking Taz out, brought him to his fave pet store, and we visited 3 local butcher shops. We love 2 of them and bought different meats from both of them to try. It was expensive but I had the best sirloin I've ever tasted. The best t hing was a bag of bacon ends. I know they sell them at Trader Joes but never saw them around here before. Bought a bag, fried them up to put some in a caesar salad. We both agreed it was insanely good. So we talked and agreed that buying organic anbiotic free meat is worth a bit more money and I'll buy freezer packs and watch for sales to save a bit of money. Funny thing is, aside from the expensive steak, the other stuff wasn't too much more than the grocery store. One butcher makes freezedried sardines for dogs so we bought a bag to try out. It was kind of weird pulling a little fish out of the bag (with eyeballs yuck) and Taz loves them. So that'll be an ongoing treat for him.

When we got home we started binge watching Grimm. The series finished last week so I was curious to see how they would end the show. We'll finish watching tonight (2 more episodes to see). I had fun doing Chris' April challenge as I watched the shows. Today I have some desk work, will take Taz to the park and have a pot roast to put in the oven later for dinner.

Chris - I've seen Frequency and liked it. I was sorry that it didn't get a second season. Have fun in the garden today.

Nancy - what my vet said about dogs drinking water outside, is that if it is stagnant water, no, that can develop bacteria and stuff in it but if it is moving water then it is ok. It doesn't mean anything will happen to the dog, but it could. So I don't worry too much over a newly created water puddle but a muddy, dirty puddle that has been sitting for a bit, I keep Taz away.

Trudy - hope you are not too stiff and sore from all the yard work. Hope you are relaxing today.

I'm going to go drink my second coffee now and relax. Have a great day, everyone.
