Oscraps

Daily Oooo's Thursday Nov 25th (USA Thanksgiving)

LaurieW

lOve the O!
Morning and happy thanksgiving all - woke up to rain on the roof and flash flood warnings- awaiting my children to come home- one has an hour drive the other 8-9 hours not counting rain. I did much cooking yesterday, and today, the main course- turkey, tatoes, stuffing and gravy!

May you all have wonderful days and take photos to scrap with!

Good morning Laurie! Praying for safe travels for your children today.

Lots of cooking left to do here...and we eat at 12:30. But couldn't miss out on wishing all of my US friends a Happy Thanksgiving. And, to my worldwide friends...I'm thankful for you!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my US O-Fam and Happy "I'm Thankful for You" to my O-Fam that don't celebrate today.

I am just puttering around online and here, drinking some coffee and enjoying the quiet house. Cait is sleeping over at a friend's house and I have to get her in an hour or so.
We are going to MIL's today. I am hoping that my parents are still going to join us. They were invited, being that my brother was supposed to still be in CA. My brother and SIL are goign to see how they are doing when they get up today, but they are thinking that they are going to head up to her brother's family for a bit, then down to my IL's for a bit. They don't know what they are up for but I guess staying home alone is daunting.
My mom already decided that there was no way that she could "celebrate" if they are alone. He's mad at her for thinking that, but as a mom, I get where she is coming from. If my "babies" are in pain, how could I go out and pretend?
On the other hand, I get where he is coming from as well. He'd feel guilty knowing she was home b/c of the situation with him.
Me-- i don't know what I'd do but whatever I did do, it would be with a big ol bottle of wine, I am sure.

I know, again I am rambling......

Laurie- hoping for very safe traveling for you boys. Have a wonderful day!

Linda S- make sure you have a piece of that pecan pie for me! Maybe even 2! :hungry:

Love you all very much and I am so thankful that you all listen to me even when I ramble.

to all of my U.S.A. friends here at the "O" I hope everyone has juicy tender turkeys and you get to spend it with all of those that you love the most!!

We are under another snowfall warning, so I just might be stuck at home for the day. I am supposed to be getting my hair done at 11:30, but we will see what the weather brings. Later tonight it is supposed to turn to rain, so that will just make for a lovely mess!!

Laurie - I hope that your family has a safe journey home, bet they are looking forward to their mother's good cooking!!

Chris - You just ramble away girl...you know we love you and will always be here for you, remember although your family has been through a very sad time, there is still so much to be thankful for!!

Nana Linda - How nice that your hubby stayed home to help you out. Sounds like it will be a big feast at your house too (got room for one or two more??) I love turkey dinner!! :hungry: I have the use of my brother's Wii for 6 months and I am having so much fun with it. My arm is very sore from all the tennis that I have been playing, so fun!! Dear Grandma,

I got about two hours of sleep last night. David was on call with work and had to take off down south to a coastal town near you. We all stayed up until he called to say he was headed back towards the valley. He arrived home shortly before I rolled rolled out of bed around 6:30.

Grandma, please don't judge me, but as the weight of what I still needed to do in the first hour of the day hit me -- I really wanted a hard drink. Not one of Jeff's girly weak drinks, but a drink hard enough to knock a sock off of Chuck Norris.

Amazing, so far, I've made the stuffing, the pie is in the oven, my rolls are rising, and the mashed potatoes are in the works. All without a single calorie of food or an ounce of caffeine in my body.

I do have some confessions. I nuked my roll dough at Power 3 in the microwave. It's frozen dough, which I forgot to thaw last night. I hope they still rise, I'm thinking about setting up a camera for a time-laspe video so I can be sure. I also over boiled the mashed potatoes, they were still drainable, but they're on the stove getting the rest of the steam out.

Oh, and the stuffing. I used store-bought bread cubes from Winco. I *was* going to do my own seasonings, but Hunter showed up and is sleeping in the room where all of the excess spices Crazy Aunt Shirley sent me as a wedding gift are stored. Of course, all the spices I would need were in that box and not on my spice rack. So, I used the omnious spice package that came with the bread cubes. Oh, and I only used onion and celery... no carrots, both because of time... and I'm apparently very allergic to them now.

You know your pecan pie recipe? I'm not using it. I'm sorry Grandma. When I saw how easy the Pioneer Woman's recipe is, I decided to go with hers and not even look at yours. Oh, and I ran out of time this week -- I never made the pie crust. That's right, I'm using Safeway Select Frozen Pie Crust.

Grandma, I have to get going... there's more I need to do. I'm just hoping I survive this Thanksgiving, and the future ones. Right now, Thanksgiving is looking like the one day of the year where our kids will be asking Jeff why Mommy locked herself in the bedroom with a bottle an adult's-only drink that gets people in trouble.

Send lots of prayers for me to God today, I'm going to need it.

Your second grandchild, with lots of love,
Meg

I don't normally post in the Daily Oooo's ... but just had make an exception for today ... Happy Thanksgiving to all my dear friends who are celebrating today ... I hope you all have a wondeful & joyous day!!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Anyone going to shop on Friday in real life? I am NOT lol. I would rather pay full price then fight my way through a store lol.

hey everyone- the house is empty for a bit- it was wonderful to cook for 7 people- and they all appeared to enjoy it. My glasses really must get fixed tomorrow- they are way to wonky on my head. I sure hope I get a lot of cancels- probably won't but that is okay- I will deal with it. looks like everyone (but poor meg) has had a good start and hopefully end to their day.

Laurie - glad your supper went well, I am jelous, I want turkey!!!!!

Ashalee - I'm with you on-line shopping is the way to go:high5:

Hehe well lots of things went wrong, but overall the meal was good.

I've actually had my stomach problems act up these last few days and today pretty much did me in. I was supposed to go to Jeffs aunt and uncles, but I had to take my emergency medicine. For the first time in ages the side effects are bothering me, so it's bedtime at 4:30pm!! I have to be up around 2:30am for a website hosting sale that Robyn from DSP let me in on, it's the only way I can afford to change hosts right now.

Ok, off to dream land!

Oh Meg...sorry that you aren't feeling well! And Laurie, so glad that your boys both made it home safely! ME, can't believe that you had to deal with snow! And Chris, I hope that your brother and SIL were able to get some comfort from family today!

Mom really wasn't feeling good and just couldn't eat anything. I did however use some leftover mashed potatoes for potato soup that I made for her this evening and that went better. Everyone was gone within an hour after lunch and we had tons of leftovers. However, I took a big plate down to Dad when I took potato soup to Mom. And my nieces stopped for leftovers...so it's slowly thinning out!
