It's a gorgeous morning here and I wish I could send the weather to everyone. Sunny, 73*, and the humidity isn't all that bad ATM. Key phrase: ATM. As the day progresses, it will be a normal NJ summer day: Hazy, Hot, and Humid, the same as it was yesterday.

I am really happy that I went out for the hike yesterday morning. It was hot walking the trail to get into the woods, but once I was in there, it was much cooler. Still grossly humid but that was worse because of the heavy rains the day before so everything was wet and muddy.
Even though I was sweaty and muddy, and now have scratches on my leg, I came home very excited. I had watched up to the beaver lodge-- and I saw a beaver!! I was at the edge of the water and was looking for the frog and birds I could hear in the marshy areas. As I look at the lodge itself, I thought I saw a log floating past- and quickly realized it wasn't a log when I heard a loud splash. If you haven't heard a beaver slap its tail close by, believe me, they are *loud.* I must have watched that cutie swim back and forth for such a long time. I got a few photos and videos too. I was so excited when I saw him that I wasn't paying attention to my feet and scratched my leg on a branch.
After that, I kept watching a little farther up the trail and checked out some cool mushrooms and plants. Turned around, went back to the lodge to see if the beaver was still out (he was not), and managed to scratch my leg on the same darn branch. Parallel 3" scratches on my shin. Smart-- *taps forehead* ;)

It turned out that Cait had to work late last night so it was just me and Gary at dinner time. I made buffalo chicken wraps (vegetarian for Caitlyn) so the kids could "grab and go" when/if they were hungry.

I am cleaning this morning and this afternoon I need to get all of the boxes labeled and ready to put at the curb tomorrow morning.
and that's it!

Have a wonderful day!

I have an 8:00 dentist appointment so we are out of the house very early. It is an hour to the dentist butI wasn’t ready to find a new one until we figured out the gum disease and got the cavities filled. Then maybe I can do a routine cleaning to get to know someone else.

Brian is driving me because I didn’t feel great after they numbed me up and then planed my roots. Whatever that means. They only did the right side and so, today we do the left side. WooHoo! Then back to work as fast as I can go!
I'm here! I was typing away, not sure why I wasn't visible. I'll merge the thread :)
Maybe because I was on my iPad. Sorry about that but thanks for merging. And thanks for being so unbelievably faithful for all of these years to open the Daily O’s!

I took the car out yesterday at lunch and have promised myself that I will drive it daily until I get it all figured out. @vickyday the guy said that if you had your cruise control on, it would actually drive itself. We will never know!

@faerywings I love your hike to see the beaver. We saw one last fall when we were in NC and it was much more fun than watching them at the zoo.

@vickyday love the fact that you had to come inside from the balcony because it was chilly. That doesn’t really compute with the high temps we have been experiencing.

Ok, we are at the dentist. Sad face…I’ll catch you all on the way back home.

Thanks so much for starting us off, Linda! It's great to see you in the mornings and I like starting my day with you. Need a refill? :coffeedrinker:

Congrats on the new car!!! It took my mom a *really* long time to get used to the safety features in her car -- like 2 years- but I know you'll get used to it much faster than that :D I remember that Kay said the same thing when she got her new car earlier this year.
I have groceries in my house too- but *still* have no ideas about what to cook every night. I have a list of the meals that I have ingredients for but I never know who is coming or going. There is no point in defrosting the piece of pork if Scott won't be home b/c then I'll have to toss the leftovers if no one is here to eat it. I'm the only one who will eat leftovers more than once and I can only eat so much.
I love Merlin too but I am getting frustrated that I can hear the birds but can never see them. pfffft. I hope that you get to see the hawk soon.

@vickyday Your vacation sounds like it is wonderful and relaxing (minus the wait at the pizza place). What a fantastic mental reset. ♥ Have a safe trip back home today!

@bcgal00 How was Jen's appt? I hope that it didn't make her knee hurt worse before it gets better. It has to feel "good" to at least be doing something other than hoping it gets better.

@Cherylndesigns Your poor dogs too, I hope that they were all less agitated last night. Someone in my neighborhood lit some last night but only 2-3 times.
You did good keeping up with the kids and the partying :dance2: Are you going to sleep the next week straight to catch up? LOL!!
Is Ava doing the trip to bring Kinleigh home this weekend? And yeah, good luck to her mom... Maybe Kinleigh will need a week-long nap to catch up too. *wink*
Congrats to Braden on the new car! *throws change in for good luck, to @LSlycord new car too*

big hugs to you!!

Linda-- good luck at the dentist, glad that Brian is taking you so you don't have to make that long drive by yourself if you aren't feeling well.
Sorry about that but thanks for merging. And thanks for being so unbelievably faithful for all of these years to open the Daily O’s!
1. I love opening up the Ooo so no need to thank me.
2. Don't apologize! I always say that anyone can open the threads and I am thrilled that you did.

I read an article last night about over-apologizers. I am *horrible* about that, my family teases me that I say "Sorry" to everyone about everything. And I do. I am going to be more conscious of that. If I can find that article, I'll link it here.

This made me smile for so many reasons. But the main reason is I kept telling the hygienist sorry when I’d swallow or forget to keep my mouth open far enough. She said, “Stop saying you are sorry. You have nothing to be sorry about.”

@Cherylndesigns I really love hearing about all of your activity over the last week! You amaze me. Hope you get a little bit of down time this weekend. And I hope that the fireworks have settled down so that the dogs can calm down. We are lucky, the fireworks don’t bother ours. But when I was in college, one of our dogs got out on the 4th and couldn’t find him. The next morning found him dead on the side of the road.

@bcgal00 echoing Chris in hoping that Jen got some relief. Hopefully it won’t take too long to get her back to normal.

HAGD everyone.

Good morning ladies. The days are flying by. I get out to play for short periods with the dogs in the yard, getting them to hop in the kiddie pool to cool off. Then I get in our pool and cool off. It's been in the 90's. I've got a dentist appointment this morning and then maybe we'll head to costco for supplies. I need more bird seed which has been hard to find lately so fingers crossed that they have some.

@faerywings Hope the scratches heal quickly. I can relate. I stood in a bramble bush when getting photos of wild donkeys and got my legs all scratched up. I stepped out of the bush and then a minute later was back in it as was moving to get a good photo LOL. I looked down and saw the blood dripping down my shins. But I got the photo I wanted LOL.

Jen went to physio and they showed her a few stretches to do. They will see her again next week. They also showed her how to wear the brace properly, for when she progresses a bit more in the healing process.

I'm getting coffee and doing a few chores before leaving for my appt. HAGD everyone.

I agree with you! No car of mine will do its own driving.... not on my command, anyway! That's just too scary!

Good afternoon,
We're back home to the heat and humidity! Yuck!
We set the alarm for 6 to see a beautiful mountain sunrise on our last morning. There was only one problem...the fog was so thick you couldn't even see any light through it! We did see the deer eating breakfast.

Since we were up, we finished packing up and headed home. We stopped about half way for breakfast. Then stopped at Lowe's for a receptacle for the freezer. We were home by 10. Got the car unloaded and I put things away while Mark worked on the receptacle. Got the freezer going and he headed out to cut the grass. He is napping now. I want a nap but I don't dare! It certainly feels like it should be later than it is!

It's good to be back home! I can hardly wait for bedtime!

Have a great afternoon!

Oh my gosh, Linda, that last paragraph made my blood run cold. Daisy wasn't bothered, but the other two were. Little Lila had a seizure about midnight and I KNOW that's what triggered it. Yes, I'm looking forward to some downtime. We all went out to dinner last night - kind of a last hurrah. Kinleigh and Ava are leaving tonight to go spend the night in Tulsa for their 4 AM flight. I'm glad it's her and not me. :floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

Hello everybody.

Finally getting in here. I'm waiting for Casey to come clean, but she hasn't shown up yet. That's kind of how we roll around here. If she doesn't come today, she'll make it tomorrow. We're all so messed up with this holiday weekend, anyway. It is THURSDAY - yes - I have to keep telling myself that. (Looks at phone to verify AGAIN.)

We went out to dinner last night - kind of a last hurrah. Chris @faerywings I thought about you when I got ny meager of amount of wine. We went to that expensive place and I always chuckle when they bring the wine. I feel like saying "don't get carried away there". I even took a picture for you.

thumbnail.jpg

Glad you had a good walk yesterday and got to take in nature. Yes, Ava makes the big cross country trek (flights) tomorrow. I think their first one leave at 4 am and I got lost after that. She's the only one with enough stamina to do that, I'll tell you that. Kinleigh is going to need a nice long nap when she gets home. She just never stops talking - I sat in the back seat on the way to the restaurant and she never stopped jabbering one time. She walks up to strangers and just starts chattering away.

Linda @LSlycord I amaze myself. Hahaha I'm not going to be able to crash for very long. Adrienne will want to stay busy after Kinleigh leaves. She's already lining up our nail appts probably for tomorrow, and we haven't gotten in much shopping time, so I'm sure we'll be out and about this weekend.

You poor thing - a dentist appt at 8 am. That makes me sick to even think about it - the 8 am and the dentist. Hope everything went well. You're a brave soul going at that awful time, but then you're an early bird, I keep forgetting.

I see you're back, Vicky @vickyday ,

Rae @bcgal00 hope Jenn's knee is a little better.

I'm going to run and finish up posting the new releases. I'm about half done.

Hugs to all.
