I was gifted a bunch of yarn a few years ago and none of them had labels/wrappers on them. I found this yarn that reminded me of my DS's girlfriend's hair ( hehe, I know, that sounds silly!) and thought I might use it to make a scarf for her for Christmas. I *think* it is an acrylic/wool "blend. It's two strands together. One is def. acrylic, the other strand feels like wool, a little bit rough and scratchy

Here is what I have crocheted so far:
Because I don't know what kind of yarn it is, I searched Ravelry for patterns using two-strand worsted weight. This is a V -stitch cowl.
I don't like the way it looks. I feel like the "fuzziness" of the yarn and the open stitches make it look messy. Would I do better with a different type of pattern, something with tighter stitches?
@tanteva tagging you in here because I know that you will have some advice (maybe even ''Give it up, Faery you stink at crochet." Fair point! )
