I know there are all ages represented here at The O and that's what makes us such a wonderful and diverse group. However, I'd like to hear from you "Grandmas" or whatever your grands call you.

My grands call me Cici and I have 7 of these amazing Gifts from God (counting a Great Granddaughter). My oldest, Cameron, is 28, next is Jordan, 26, then Ava 24, then Braden, 20, then Alyssa 19 and little Asher, 13. (I also have a great-granddaughter, Kinleigh, who is Jordan's little girl. They live in Michigan, so we only get to see once a year.

How about you other "Grandma's"?????
 
I am plain old Grandma. I've always been traditional and generationally behind. My kids are old traditional names, so I went with Grandma. I'm blessed with three Grands and its amazing. My hubs was Grandpa until the first could talk a bit and he (Oldest Grand) changed his name to Poppa. We had a hard time at first as both Grandpas have the same first name.

I like a lot of the newer names for "grandparents" but I'm not trendy and never have been. I earned all my grey hair and I earned the title Grandma. I survived my daughters teen years :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: And in a room full of others, when my grands call out "Grandma" I know its me, I dont have to guess who's being summoned.
 
My Grands call me Gran. I have two granddaughters that live in my town, my youngest son's daughters, one is 24 and the other 21. I have a granddaughter that I've yet to meet, my oldest son's daughter, that lives a long distance from me, and she has three children, so three great-grands.
 
@AK_Tracy You do not look old enough to be a Grandma.
We have a 22 year old and a 19 year old from our daughter and son in law. We have a 8 year old from our son and is wonderful wife.
Such a wonderful thing to have grandchildren...if I knew how wonderful grands are I would have had them first !!! We are Grammy and Grampy to all of them.

Rested my injured shoulder today but not much better so my have to call my surgeon ..ugh it's just been a year since my other shoulder was replaced I'm not really ready for more surgery.

We talked to our oldest grandchild today. She met her online friend from Wales because he came over to the US for a week...they really loved their time together and he plans to come back. Yikes a long distance love relationship????

Awwww that's the nicest thing ever. :heartpumppink: I started having kids early (20) and so yeah by late 40's I was a grandma. :heartpumppink: I was 45 when I became a grandma. I agree too, had I know, they would have been first. But I truly believe they are the reward to surviving your own. :floorlaugh:
 
I have two grandchildren ... Ada-Noor turned 10 in September and Onno will be 7 in December.
Until June, they were with us almost every Wednesday afternoon ... but from this school year they will stay home ... Onno has joined a basketball team since September and has training then.
Ada-Noor is in the third year of music school: on Wednesday afternoons she now has music theory and music history; her flute lesson is on Thursdays.
I do miss them on Wednesday afternoons ... I went to pick them up from school ... in the meantime grandpa cooked something delicious ... we did crafts together, went to eat a pancake or a waffle, went to the playground ... there was always one of the two who said: 'oma', are we going ... 'oma', can I ... 'opa' do you know what car this is ....
 
I have two lovely granddaughters. Lena and Nine. They are my treasures. We see them very often as I take care of them once a week and they like to sleep over so now and then! Lena has my creativity and she is painting and drawing a lot and now learning a bit about creating on the computer too! They give us so much joy and laughter.

@AK_Tracy I was married in HS at 18 and have been married to the same man all these years.-I was 46 when my granddaughter was born-DD waited to have children.

@taxed4ever I've heard others called GG and wondered where it came from but your daughters idea greatest Grandma is perfect.

@marijke Oma was our land lady when we lived in Germany so I guess it is what is used in Belgium too.

@Betty Jo I like that Gran and you are a great grandmother...wow

I have 9 grandchildren and so does Mark. When we married 6 years ago we doubled everything, family-wise. He had a son and daughter and a set of twin step-children...a girl and a boy. I also have 2 girls and 2 boys.
My oldest, Jessica, will be 45 in January. Her first born, Michael, called Tim and I Grandma and Grandpa.
My third child, Elisabeth, gave us the second grandchild, a granddaughter. We lived in WV at the time and every grandparent is called Mamaw and Papaw. So when the other grands came along they all call us Mamaw and Papaw, except for Michael. Mark's grands call him Papaw.
Ages of the 18 grands range from 23 to 3.
Yes, I agree that being a grandmother is the greatest blessing!

Wow you are blowing me away with that family...How do you keep all the names straight
 
We are blessed with seven grandchildren. :heartpumpred: Our son, T.J. has a 16 year old daughter, Leah, and a 3 year old son, Conor. Our daughter, Kyla, has a 16 year old son, Ryder, a 14 year old son, Tripp, a 12 year old daughter, Piper and a 6 year old son, Jett. Our youngest daughter, Kara, has a 2 year old daughter, Lively. I keep Lively four days a week. She keeps me busy for sure! :heartpumpred: Our grands call us Nana and Poppy.

Nothing wrong with "plain ole Grandma. My mom didn't want to be called Grandma, so the kids all called her Grammie and my dad was Grampie. Growing up, my maternal grandparents were Grandma and Poppy and my paternals were Granny and Grandpa. My oldest DD, Adrienne gave me my name - it's kind of my initials and was originally going to be CC, then it got changed to Cici. Each kid is unique - Cameron calls me Cice, Jordan calls me Icic (Cici backwards), Ava usually calls me Cicers and Braden and Alyssa call me Ceesers McGeesers. Asher still calls me Cici. How's that for some "non-traditional names? Ava's fiance calls me Little Ceesers. :lol23::lol23:

Sorry you're shoulder isnt getting better. Your names are the same as my parents, only they put "ie" n the end. They called my grandmas Grammie Great and Granny Great.

These kids have minds of their own about what they want to call us. As you can see if you read my post about the different names mine have given me. I LOVE GG - my sister is Gigi and a good friend is also Gigi.

I LOVE your granddaughter's names, Marijke. Oma and Opa are so cute, too.

.That's so awesome that you get to see your girls so often. I always did arts and crafts with mine and they still love to talk about the cute things we used to make. I also introduced them to the computer and a couple of them were very interested in how I made my layouts (first paper, then digitally.)

That's so cute how some of them came with their own names for you. I can see how it would be hard to keep all the birthdays straight. I'm sure you do an outstanding job, Vicky.
 
Well, since I've only been a grandmother for 7 months, Oone can't call me yet. But I myself am still hesitating between oma and omi. It doesn't really matter yet.
We look after her every Monday, she comes on Sunday evening and then sleeps in our room. And she always wakes up chattering and with a big smile. She is such a sweet and easy baby.

What a fun age when they start chattering and smiling. I know what a blessing Oone must be!
 
This thread is both wonderful to read and makes me a little sad. Neither of my kids wants babies of their own. But I will likely have plenty of grand-pets instead
 
Adding to Debby's comment, maybe they will be surprised and surprise you with a grand and then love the surprise so much they'll surprise you again.
 
I only had one grandma, the other grandma and granda both died 6 weeks after I was born. My grandma was not warm and fuzzy even a little bit, I don't think she much cared for us, and it was either get out of the house or be quiet. She was always old, in my mind, but that was a generational thing I'm sure. Anyway, I did not want to be called grandma so my grands Christian 15 and 6'5" and Lauren 13 and 5' 10" call be Nana. My husband doesn't do unconventional, even though he wears Hawaiian shirts during summer, he wanted to be called Grandpa. I suggested Papa, but that was waaaayyyyyyy out of his comfort zone. My grands are my heart and my soul.
 
@JeanneMN That is so sad your grandmother was not warm and fuzzy but at least you did not follow in her footsteps. Your names work just fine Nana & Grandpa !!! It sounds cute together.
I had wonderful grandparents so I try to be a good one too.
