You all know that I swear by garlic pills when I get sick. If I know I am going to be close to sick people I'll also take it as a preventative. I started taking it my first year of teaching PreK. Yeah all of you reachers know it First year is brutal. My friend told me about garlic pills and as soon as I started taking them daily I wasn't sick anymore.
Now if I feel a cold coming on, as soon as I get that tickle in my throat, I'll start taking high doses throughout the day.
We spoke to our Lyme drs and asked about the flu/H1N1 vaccines. They were against us getting it. One reason is that a fever is a good way to kill Lyme bacteria and boost the immune system. This is obviously towards lower fevers- we were told to not take any meds unless we were over 101.
The other concern our dr had was the quickness that the vaccine was put on the market and low amounts of participants in the clinical trials. She went throught this when they rushed the Lymerix vaccine through and many people who got it became very sick.
However--- if your dr recommends getting a vaccine-- you have different circumstances- so please do not feel like I am suggesting that vaccines are bad. I think it should be a personal/medical issue. (and this is for flu vac's- I am very thankful for polio/smallpox/measles vac)
I found some research online that addresses some non-vac ways to prevent/beat the flu this year. And yes!! Garlic is one of them #8
