Baby Shower Ideas Needed...

I'm hoping you guys and gals can help me. I was sort of nominated to be the ringleader of this circus...I mean babyshower... and I would love some ideas.

Because the mother was really really sick for the entire 9 months, she asked that we please do the shower after the baby is born. Then, by the time we were able to sync our calendars and come up with a date, another month had gone by. So, by my rough estimate, the baby is going to be about 8 weeks old.

Since he is already here, some of the games and gifts that are customary at a typical baby shower don't really apply, so I am hoping maybe a few of you have been to a "meet the baby shower" and have some ideas.

I also have to make invites, so if anyone has seen a cute saying/poem etc to invite to the shower, but also announce that he is already here, that would be fantastic.

Thanks in advance for any and all ideas. I am not a leader by nature, and I don't typically enjoy being in charge of things....wish me luck!

Book shower!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Says the librarian!) I've seen some really adorable book showers where the guests all bring a book to build baby's library. And the decorations were pages from a children's book and the guest book was an "illustrated" alphabet book for the baby. Really cute ideas. I also saw a totally adorable Very Hungry Caterpillar shower. https://pinterest.com/pin/56646907782799832/

Search Pinterest. TONS of neat ideas on there!

always chatty at the O!!
A diaper shower is always good too. Or check her registry and see if there is a big item she hasn't received yet and have everyone chip in for that and then have a time to visit, hang out and drool over the baby. One last idea...have everyone bring over a homemade freezable meal for when she goes back to work, or when she doesn't feel like cooking. I would go more for what is helpful...or something sweet, like Sara suggested with the books. Since she probably already has most of what she needs, you can be creative and have some fun with it.

I am interested to hear about this as well.
We might going to throw a baby shower party for a dear friend of mine. however she is pretty much hard to please. So we probably prefer a simple one.

Any more ideas for this? :D
