I am planning my DD's baby shower and I need some suggestions on games! I have been searching on line and all I can find are the same old tired games! If anyone can offer anything...I would love it!! Thanks!!

I was at a shower that had the funniest one. Have maybe 3 girls play. String a clothesline. Give each one a baby doll, a cellphone and a stack of baby clothes to hang. The girl who does it first without dropping her phone and/or baby wins. Its mom multi-tasking! It was pretty funny to watch.

We did baby shower bingo at 2 showers I went to this spring -- I thought it would be bad, but everyone really liked it because it was low-key, and it didn't have anything to do with measuring the new mom's belly!

Hollie- that is too funny!

This is a spin on a game on did for Caitlyn's birthday- they girls has to dress up their american girl dolls. But you could do similar where you have 2 teams and two baskets of baby clothes. They had to pull out clothes to make a whole outfit (you could do diaper, bib, hat, onsie. socks etc..) they had to dress the doll as quickly as they could- and it was like a relay race.

I still like Hollie's idea best LOL

LOL...thanks hollie!! That sounds like FUN...I can think of 3 or 4 people coming that would be perfect for it...they would give everyone a good laugh!!

ME...Thanks...and definately...NO GAMES measuring the belly...she is a little sensitive to that this time around!! sounds like it would be fun!!

Chris...that's a great spin to the game...I saw that on Ellen last year..she had two people come on stage...showed them a picture of a star...gave them both a chest full of clothes and they raced to dress like the star was dressed...it was hillarious!! I bet Cait and her friends had a blast!!

THANKS a bunch ladies!!

HAHA that is too funny because I did this in real life today...well I had the baby in my moby wrap so I really coudn't drop him, but I was on the phone while haning diapers on the line to dry!

Just my personality, I don't like games at baby showers. At mine my MIL had got stuff for a scrapbook and everyone did a small page, 8x8 I think with advice or just a letter for us on a new baby then we added pictures later with everyone from the shower.

After reading Jos's post, I remembered something else that we did that everyone enjoyed - we each decorated onesies with puffy paints (you can never have enough onesies), and it was so crafty and fun!

so I just gave a baby shower last Sunday for my bff...and this is her fifth baby! so I told everyone (and it was a HUGE crowd) that in lieu of games, we were going to go around the room and tell a funny melanie (my bff) story...or a serious one or whatever we wanted to about mel. She was beyond blessed!! She got to hear a bunch of her closest friends and relatives tell her what an awesome mom she is!!! (she is!!) So it was quite the boon!!

I also cut 3.5 inch tea stained muslin squares to make quilt blocks so a friend and I could make a quilt for the baby!!! Our theme was frogs (based on Kristin Aagard's Pond Play kit!! yay!!!) Here is the link to my facebook pics:

hope that helps a little bit!! btw, I love Hollie's idea, too!!

Fun ideas!

I like no-game showers, like Jos. We had a few games at my first shower (with Ella) and none at the one they threw me when I was pg with the boys. We all just sat around and chatted, talked about different things. At that one, since I already had a baby, I definitely didn't need any advice. ;) It was more a socializing thing, and for me that was the biggest blessing since I'd already been bed-ridden for 4 weeks with few visitors.

Also - I like Jos's suggestion of the scrapbook pages, or letters to the baby. That is a cute idea, and something they can cherish forever!

Sally...FANTASTIC photos!! Looks like you had a blast! You are just the most creative diva!! If I lived in TX...I would just hire you to do the shower!!

Tali....Thanks for sharing! I can't imagine being in bed for so long!!

You all have been really helpful! THANKS!!

Sally- your pics are so great- you should do a sideline biz on party planning!

Linda- looks like you got some great advice, I love all of these ideas!

Great ideas!! I've always been like Tali...no-game showers are the best for me. :D But the clothes line game sounds like it would be a hoot to watch!! Good luck with your shower, Linda! You'll have to let us know how it goes! ;)
