 It's practically November. Yesterday at Costco, it was a madhouse of people buying their christmas gifts along with the usual shopping.

:lalala:

I'm soooo not ready!!!!

I have no idea what to get for my 13-year old sister and 15-year old brother, other than itunes gift cards of course. Nana says the Rainbow Loom is also popular with teenagers, but I think my sister would be too snotty about it :icon_frown: Thankfully everyone else is pretty easy to shop for! er, I just need the monies :suspicious:

have you started shopping for your holiday gifts yet??

With a dozen grandchildren, I MUST start shopping early...but as they get older, they just get money or gift cards. So YES...well under way.

Nope- only in my head- oh I take that back- we finished for our youngest- we are taking over a loan payment to get him on his feet. The oldest- not so sure- he has the must buys- dark chocolate covered cherries and a Hess truck and after that, I scratch my head. Last year I started scanning photos of him from birth on before digital camera, so perhaps I can finish that up!

Every year I plan to early shopping, but like every year it will be at the last moment, again...

I have a couple of things, but I have really started to like using Amazon. Saves some of the craziness in the stores. And online shopping for me for Black Friday. :-)

I have become and Amazon shopper too. I just don't have it in me to to do the big shopping mall shopping any more.
I'll to hit the Christmas Tree Shop once or twice for some gifts and then the rest is online or handmade. I *really* need to get myself going better ASAP!

Meg- check around in your area-- by me- Rainbow Looms are strictly Elem. School age. Expensive to get one and have it be ignored b/c its not "cool" for teens.

I love Christmas, but with the very hectic and no help at the moment at home, I would probably skip putting up my Christmas Tree :( so sad ...

Grandkids are coming home for Christmas this year so I have to get busy and start buying!! Hooray I will be decorating the whole house this year!!!! I get to buy some new things :becky:

They're in Portland :( I'm guessing it's probably not cool for teens up there too. Honestly, she's been such a brat towards me in the last year... I kind of don't care to put much thought into a gift? That's terrible of me, I know. I think I'll just get her a target gift card.

I think Target GC is more than fair if she has been a brat. For the record, I just hit Target and got the big Santa gift and a couple little ones. It was on sale $20 cheaper for the weekend and I had a $5 coupon. I don't think it would get any cheaper! And I took the last one on the shelf. If I had waited, it might have been sold out! Zoomer is a hot buy!

yep. bought a bunch of stuff online already, but i'm still stumped as to what to get for The Grandmen and DD. i try not to do The Mall and real stores too much during the holidays. it makes me want to smack people....:fish:

Sara - yeah, she's been a big huge brat and hasn't even bothered to thank me or acknowledge her birthday gifts in July... I got her a few smash books and tons of supplies. I bought those way back in February and put a ton of thought into which books to get, kind of zaps all my gift giving spirit to not even get an acknowledgement!

Phylis - Haha that's me year round! We had to go to the mall to get a replacement for my iphone charger, and it about killed me.... and the apple store was the only one open at 9am!

Oh lordy....don't mention the Apple Store. We have one in the area and it is always horrendously crazy. Supposedly, they open at noon on Sunday, when we got there at 12:15 last Sunday, there were easily 150 people in the store. It's just an insane place to go.

Love, love, love shopping on Amazon. You can find almost anything, cheaper. And we pay for Amazon Prime, so I get free two day shipping on almost everything. Returns are easy. Free Kindle books and free movies and shows too. It's awesome.

(Now...don't ask me to listen to my conscience about the big company putting little ones out of business or how they keep an ambulance on stand by during the summers outside of their warehouse because their workers are exhausted and it isn't air conditioned.)

But you do have to watch for things. I had an Amazon Price Tracker email that the Zoomer dog that Ben wanted dropped to 79.99 yesterday morning, but it was back up to 99.99 by the time I looked. They do that constantly. So, when I saw it in Target's ad for this weekend for 79.99 AND a $5 coupon on top of that...well, paying the sales tax beat out waiting for the price to drop again on Amazon...if it even would.

OH and another tip for you, if you do like to online shop, use a browser that hasn't stored any data and you haven't used before. Even though it's kind of illegal, some retailer's will have a lower price for an item if you haven't ever shopped from them before because they want to suck you in. I found that out one year with Toys-R-Us. Used a "clean" browser and the price was almost $20 cheaper!

We had prime for three years, but didn't renew this september to save money. We keep wish lists to watch prices. Like, I have a wish list to watch prices on kindle books -- especially from authors who will randomly make a book free. A list for things we're always having to buy, like willow branch woven tunnels for the guinea pigs. The size we always get is $16 at the pet store, but we can usually get it for half that on amazon. Last week, it was down to $5.50 and Jeff was like... BUY ALL THE GUINEA PIG TUNNELS!!!!!!!!! Sure enough, the next morning they were back up to $9.99! Now we're having to wait like two weeks for them to arrive since we don't have Prime anymore LOL! AND amazon raised the free shipping minimum to $35!!! Thank goodness we had one left from when they were $8 ;)

We really only shop on Amazon, but I do use private browsing when shopping on other sites. I honestly can't remember the last time we bought something on a site other than amazon or ebay :-|

LOL - "Buy all the guniea pig tunnels" love it! (Saw a sign at the library the other day that said "Read all the books!")

We use camelcamelcamel to email us an alert when Amazon drops a price, that way we know right away and hopefully don't miss it!

Lots of good tips here. I am with you, Sara, on ignoring the little voice in my head that wishes I could afford to never step foot into walmart again.(

tee hee about buying all of the tunnels, Meg!

For anyone doing digital gifts, have you started them yet?
