My daughter has been working on puzzles for well over a year. I think it started when the kids that she babysits for asked her to help them on theirs'.
She usually did them in her room but in January, I told her that she should bring them downstairs and set it up on the dining room table. That puzzle was so difficult that we didn't eat at the table for three weeks.

Gary brought up a piece of plywood so now we can move the puzzle onto the dog crate which is next to the table when we need to eat ;)
The next few puzzles that we did were easier, and then this last one was tricky because the pieces were shaped so oddly and there was a lot of solid colors. There was one piece that looked like the outline of a teddy bear and another looked like a dragon.

Who else likes to do puzzles? How many pieces are they?
Ours have been 750 to 1000 for the most part.

We run into some trouble b/c one of our dogs has chewed a few of them. One puzzle-- she ate 12 pieces and we were able to rescue a few out of her mouth. This last puzzle-- she was only able to get one. No matter how careful we are, if one gets knocked off of the table she somehow gets it before we notice. Silly dog!

Chris, you know I'm totally into jigsaw puzzles. We normally have one going all the time on a board resting on a card table in our living room. Mostly we do 1,000 piece ones but also smaller. We've been given two 2,000-piece ones, but the finished size is bigger than the board, so we really can't do them. We don't have any pets to devour pieces fortunately as some usually make it to the floor.

I have not done one this winter, but used to do them regularly at my parents house. In winter there was often a puzzle on the table.
But since my dad died, it sort of went from two or three puzzles last winter to not one this winter. My mom has other interest like reading, so no more puzzling.
And they did not have pets, but pieces are easily lost anyway!

Absolutely! Mostly I do them through the rainy winter months and especially around Christmas. I buy a new Christmas themed puzzle most years or redo them if I particularly like the picture. I prefer the ones that have sections that can be done separately. That way it is like having little puzzles within larger ones. This year hubby bought me a 2000 piece puzzle of spheres of beads that took me several weeks to finish. My usual size is 1000-1500. Busy pictures with lots of blended colours drive me crazy. For example the Kincaid paintings or architectural ones, while very pretty they are not relaxing to do at all.
What types of pictures do you like to do?

I love jigsaw puzzles. I have a lot of them in the attic. I used to do them a lot, but since I have kids I don't really have time anymore. One day though, I will start puzzling again!!

I always want to believe that I love to do puzzles but the truth is I just don't have the patience. I start off gung ho and rarely finish one..... My word(s) for this year were patience & grace - with myself and others so maybe I should exercise that with a puzzle.... well, that might be too much of a challenge lol

Mostly, we seem to do Disney themed puzzles and nature scenes although we take whatever we can get. When the kids first started doing puzzles, I had *no* idea how expensive they are. I was able to get each of them a puzzle for Christmas since I had a Disney Gift Card and they were $20 a piece.
Unfortunately, I can't pass any of our puzzles to anyone since Whisky has eaten so many of the pieces.

My MIL gave a 3D puzzle of the Millenium Falcon to Gary and Scott when Scott was probably 10-12 years old. I think they put 20 pieces together before they gave up and sold it at a garage sale LOL

Vicki- that is what I thought too. I have no patience. But it kind of got under my skin and I had to keep working on it. I have to tell myself - find one more piece and then stop so I can get back to doing whatever it is that I was supposed to be doing heh!!

Years ago that we were puzzling, I still framed it and they were sitting here in the rooms. Now unfortunately no more time for it.
Maybe when we are retired :D

oh yeah, I have this thing with having to "finish" something in one sitting or I won't come back to it. That might be part of the problem. (and why i prefer to binge watch my shows!)

but, now that I think about it, the last time I tried to do puzzles was when I was quitting smoking.... maybe that had something to do with my impatience lol

As a kid I used to read Nancy Drew. Remember those? I was thrilled when I saw a puzzle that was divided into sections each with the cover of a different Nancy Drew novel. It was fun to count how many of them I had actually read. I know I have a scrap page about it but who knows where? ha ha
