Any Adele fans?

The very first time I heard one of her songs, I couldn't understand it at all ... it was so much a story rather than the kinds of songs we usually hear. But then I actually LISTENED and she just blew me away with how raw and honest she was. Story-telling is what scrappers are all about, so I really connected with her.

One of the first Adele concerts I saw on TV (it might have been her last one six years ago) had some "behind the scenes" footage where she allowed herself to be filmed as she dealt with her pre-concert jitters — and a post-concert breakdown. I was amazed at how she connected with the audience in between songs. She seemed so 'real' — if you know what I mean.

This past Sunday one of the TV networks televised her "One Night Only" concert from the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. The Observatory is on a hill overlooking L.A. and the concert was outside in a kind of "Shakespeare in the Park" theatre. So there were lots of absolutely gorgeous shots of the sunset and the landscape — done with drones, I'm sure. The audience was quite small, with an unusual mix of celebrities and friends. Intercut with the songs were bits of her interview with Oprah.

Holy cow ... I think I cried through the entire thing and I'm so glad I recorded it because I want to watch it again. I was watching very late at night with headphones on while my DH was sleeping next to me. I must have been sobbing loudly because he woke up all concerned. Lol. I wasn't sad, it was just so emotional to watch someone express their emotions so vividly through their art. She sang some of her "greatest hits" but also introduced some new songs that were gut-wrenching. One of the highlights, though, is when she allowed a man to truly surprise his girlfriend with his proposal - in front of the audience and then she sang to them. I thought the poor girlfriend might pass out from shock.

Sorry to blather on, but I was just so moved by the concert, I wondered if anyone else saw it.

I forgot that was on, I might have to see if I can find some highlights online or if its on our cable on-demand selection. I love Adele's voice and she writes such powerful words. I'm going to look today to see if I can find the special to watch.

Darn I missed the show too, but will scour the internet to find it. I love Adele and totally agree that she is such a fabulous artist and story teller!

I like her a lot - Hello was the first song that really "got to me". She sings so effortlessly.

If you have Paramount+ (fka CBS All Access) or Hulu with Live TV, you can watch it that way.
