A book about an acorn and dinosaurs???

I know this is going to be a long shot but I'm hoping one of my librarian friends (looking at you @JeanneMN LOL!)or parents of school-age kids might be able to help.
I was leading a hike yesterday and was showing the group mycelium. I talked about how mushrooms can "communicate" through it. One of the guys was saying that his kids had to read a book for school, where that was part of the storyline. He couldn't remember the name of the book but gave me a rundown of the characters. I thought it would be easy enough to Google it, but I am not having any luck.

There was something about a meteor wiping out the dinosaurs. Then an acorn got lost (?) and the mushrooms felt bad, and wanted to help the acorn. The mushrooms sent messages along their mycelium to help the acorn get back home.

It seemed like the story had a great message and it was a book that the school picked for its "all and one" (One and all??) program. All of the students read one chapter a week.

I have searched for "acorn," "meteor,""dinosaurs and acorns," and "mushrooms helping a lost acorn."

Has anyone heard of this book?

PS: Tried ChatGPT to see if that could find the title. It didn't, but told me it would be a lovely, nature-oriented book and then gave me an outline to write one myself. pfft!

I have searched library databases, google, amazon kindle, goodreads, everything I can think of and I can't find it. Sorry to let you down.

Oh my goodness...I want to read this story. Gemini didn't help except:

A thread from an online community mentions a school book about
  • a meteor wiping out the dinosaurs
  • a lost acorn that the mushrooms felt bad for and helped
  • The mushrooms sent messages along mycelium to help the acorn get home
The description suggests a book that uses the dinosaur extinction as a starting point for a nature-themed story focusing on the interconnectedness of mushrooms and the growth of an acorn.

I NEED this book.:sad1:

Oh my! Linda, that's funny and creepy that Gemini basically spit out what I typed in the first post!
i swear I wish that I could find what book it is.... I would seriously love to buy it!
