02/20 QOTD: Where Were You Born?

I was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Canada but moved to British Columbia when I was 21. It was a bit of a shock, leaving my city of 200,000 and moving to the Vancouver area which is over 2 million now but probably about 1.5 million back then. Everything seemed so far away and you could be on the bus for an hour or two, trying to get somewhere. I missed the snow for a few years (we don't get much here) and the snow we get tends to be the wet, slushy stuff, not the dry powdery snow like back east. But I don't miss the much colder temps in the winter and hotter temps in the summer. What I do miss the most is the beautiful fall colors there, they have better pizza, and I miss driving across the border to Detroit, Michigan which was only about a 10 minute drive.

What got me thinking about location is that my daughter is talking about moving from BC in the next year or two and wants us to come with them but I don't know if that will be something my hubs will want to do. Weather is much more extreme in the mid west and we'll be away from all our friends and the rest of the family. It'll be something to think about and luckily we have some time to decide if we will go or stay. I never thought I'd consider leaving this province but who knows....maybe.

Good question, I like to search google earth and look the different areas and citys.
I was born and raised in Munich, Germany. i lived there till I was about 28.Than my husband found work at AUDI in Ingolstadt, which is 80 km far from Munich. First we moved in a 200 citizens village which was 50 km closer to Ingolstadt. But lived in a capital city and than in a village it was so boring. Also we only have one car which my husband needed, my only highlights where the sheeps in front of my window. We were blended from the apartment which was huge and so nice , with a garden, nice renter, but all becomes to nice. In a small village the neighbours are very close, for us to close. I remember the first days in our apartment, I came out from a shower and my landlady with the electrician stood in the corridor.
As it was still 50 km to drive to work ,we decided to move to Ingolstadt, again a bigger city and near to work. Now we live 3 km away from AUDI.:peace:

It wasn´t a foreign area for me. I have my realtions here and as kid I spent much weekends here in this area.
My husband loved and still love Munich, he always wanted to go back. But it´s more expensive to live there and we would make a step back in our livestyle. I love Ingolstadt, we have all what we need and don´t need hours to drive from one point to another. When I drive to Munich, especially in the city, with all the traffic, I can´t imagine I ever lived here.

I am born and raised a Jersey girl.

Answers:
1. Bon Jovi
2. Taylor ham
3. Exit 42 on Rt 80 West, Exit 39 coming east.
4. It is "Down the Shore" no matter what direction you are in

A bit of Jersey humor with some 'tude.

I lived in "corporate headquarters" of North Jersey until we moved up here in the mountains. My town was the epicenter of 2 interstates, plus 2 main state highways. Took me 5 mins to get to a mall, there was just about every kind of eatery imaginable, could run errands and be back in a half hour.
I traded that for where I live now-- way up on the NY State border. It is absolutely beautiful, and we have amazing wildlife, especially black bears that will literally hang out in my back yard. (check out some of my LO's :) )
But the downside is that it takes 45 minutes to get everywhere. Maybe not *everywhere* but if it is less than 45 mins, it is right in the neighborhood.heh.

Downtown Seattle, Washingotn, USA. That hospital is long gone. Lived in or near Seattle my whole life except the first 4 years of marriage, which took us to Forest Grove, Oregon for two years while Captain Romance finished graduate school; then to Fort Devens, Massachusetts (near Leominster) for two years, where he got his "rank." Have traveled to or through all but 3 states.

I was born in a small town, Sutton Coldfield, just outside of Birmingham in the UK, (although it has now been absorbed into Birmingham). There was a huge park nearby which we used to go to every weekend but Birmingham was only 30 minutes away on the train. My family moved to Canada when I was twelve so I've been here for most of my life. We started in Edmonton, Alberta where, the first winter we were there, was the coldest they'd had on record! I think my mum was ready to pull up stakes and move back by the time the snow melted in April. We had never experienced anything like it.
When I met my husband, we moved to Ontario for ten years, then back out west to British Columbia. We've been here ever since, living in a town of 100,000 which is the perfect size for us! I doubt Les could ever persuade me to move anywhere else now, especially since our older daughter will be moving back here this summer.
