I was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Canada but moved to British Columbia when I was 21. It was a bit of a shock, leaving my city of 200,000 and moving to the Vancouver area which is over 2 million now but probably about 1.5 million back then. Everything seemed so far away and you could be on the bus for an hour or two, trying to get somewhere. I missed the snow for a few years (we don't get much here) and the snow we get tends to be the wet, slushy stuff, not the dry powdery snow like back east. But I don't miss the much colder temps in the winter and hotter temps in the summer. What I do miss the most is the beautiful fall colors there, they have better pizza, and I miss driving across the border to Detroit, Michigan which was only about a 10 minute drive.
What got me thinking about location is that my daughter is talking about moving from BC in the next year or two and wants us to come with them but I don't know if that will be something my hubs will want to do. Weather is much more extreme in the mid west and we'll be away from all our friends and the rest of the family. It'll be something to think about and luckily we have some time to decide if we will go or stay. I never thought I'd consider leaving this province but who knows....maybe.
