I've only ever seen them 'puddling' once and wondered what it was all about. They transfer the salts they are absorbing to the female when mating which provides nutrition for the eggs. Love that you brought back a memory. Nature is amazing.
LOL For some reason I'm reminded of Snoopy in his pilot's cap pretending to walk across the airstrip to his sopwith camel. Attitude. That's it! Love it.
