I love how you've captured your reaction to the dark forest floor and the just one flower thing. I've seen this and it's amazing, and not at all common. Very special page. ;)
The trip took its toll but a trip to the back doc soon after helped, and by Memorial Day the photos were sorted and most of the best ones were saved in my book. The extreme fatigue had faded and we'd made plans to go again next spring to see baby quail again, as well as in September.
We couldn't spend a lot of time watching the birds, but still saw an amazing variety of them. Seemed like we never had to wait more than a few minutes when one group flew away before more would come. Nuthatches and acorn woodpeckers are two of my favorites, but I wished for more hummingbirds.
I love your flow and balance, and now I see I need this product. Thank you for the inspiration and I'm glad it's not too late to still get it on sale.
Love your 'sepia' variation that is perfect for the color challenge, and how you called out your grandfather with the glasses. No photos in my family I think they too busy trying to survive, so I hope you are very proud of this beautiful treasure of a photo. ;)
LOL Adjustments. The turtle is most likely under those water lilies instead of on them. Thanks for letting me know, but he might not get rescued due to not enough sleep. :D
Thank you so much. Your comments matter more to me than you think, because I forget these things much too quickly and absolutely need the feedback. I was trained more than 40 years ago to take daily notes, and before that was already following in my mother's habits. It was a very gradual process...
I used the sketch treatment on the pump house but it is no good for a pond. I used a different treatment, it's subtle but added to the saturation and gave it an interesting texture.
The pond had lots of algae but none of the pink flowers we'd seen in September. Remember watching the woodpecker at the top of the tall bare tree, and looking for frogs. I thought some time I'd remember to ask Reed about the old pump house, but never got a chance. He wasn't around much.
