The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
I guess it is about time to comment about how fast July/summer is flying by. Yikes, summer is halfway over and I feel like I didn't get much of anything done. But it's all good. One of these days, I will get out of the teenager mentality of summer being time off from everything. Some day...

I scrubbed the siding on the front of the house and then Gary and I brought some of the planters back up. We are still not sure what we want to do about the big box planter that was there. It is in pieces in the backyard ATM, waiting for us to figure it out.
When I was done with siding, I tried to get some of the aphids off the milkweed. They are gross and I ended up with so many of them stuck to my arms. Debby, @BoatLady do you have any tips or tricks to keep them at bay? I haven't seen any monarch caterpillars yet this year either. Butterflies, yes, babies-- nope. :(

However, I was super excited! We hung up the hummingbird camera feeder and I got pictures!

You can see a little bit of the patio too, even if it is a little fishbowl-y.

This morning I need to pick up my groceries and then I have to squeeze in yoga. I didn't do that yesterday- I had a leftover bagel for breakfast and then was way too full to do any inversions or twists. Hahahah!
I'm working in the office today and sheesh, I feel bad for the campers and counselors. Real Feels are going to be over 100° today and tomorrow. I'm going to bring my tablet and a notepad and start working on my HS plans for the Fall while I am there. I have a very rough outline/brainstorming doc started, but as long as I am stuck inside, I might as well work on fleshing them out. I texted my coworker and she is still not ready to be released from the hospital. It has to be very scary and annoying at the same time.

Sending hugs to you!

they did some cooking so I knew they wouldn't be hungry in their clean clothes.
:giggle4:
I started my kids cooking very young too, and they both turned out to be awesome cooks. One of my memories as a kid was sitting on the kitchen floor "cooking" the eggplant skins in my tiny play kitchen. I thought of that again this past Sunday when I peeled an eggplant. Funny how some memories stick with you.
Going to stay here at son's till 11 they we will head back home. On 9th they are having a 10th birthday party for Reed so we will have to move the trailer a little as they need the whole flat spot for a bounce house and splash/slide. Great idea to put rocks where your gutters drain that will help keep it neat and clean.
Will you head straight home or will you meander your way back to FL?
The party sounds fun, I want to go on the splash slide! Wheeeeee!
How do you make your pickles, do you heat/can them? I have a "cheater" recipe that I use, no canning equipment needed, but I am interested in other ways to do it. I have a lot of cukes ready to pick in the next few days.
I made tofu/garlic aioli sandwiches last night and part of the recipe was a cucumber/broccoli slaw salad to put on the sandwich. I didn't have all of the ingredients so I had to adapt it. Still came out very good- and can help you use up the extra cucumbers.
It called for baby arugula, but I subbed some of the lettuce from my garden, cucumbers cut in thin rounds, and broccoli slaw. I didn't have that either so I just cut fresh broccoli into florets. The dressing was the juice of 1 lemon, olive oil, sea salt, maple syrup, and Dijon mustard. It was surprisingly very good on the tofu sandwich and also good on the side.

off to start a new book...I need a day to sit around.
What are you reading? BFF lent me two books, I finished The Wedding People and am reading The Berry Pickers now.
Asher puked on his bed. So, I am including his towel he cuddles up in....one that is too thick (for me) to use and a dark grey, so good for the dog! ;) I also put in the bathroom rug and his other doggy bed that is in the living room.
Awww, poor Asher, is he better today?
Will work on some more bike pages today. Would love to get caught up on those! I
You have to be getting close to done, right?
So, how tall is he? Just because he is tall to you doesn't mean he is tall, LOL! ;)
Hehe-- yes, someone who is 5'6" would be tall next to me. :D He is 5'11". Unfortunately, my kids got my short genes. Caitlyn is 5'1" and Scott is 5'5".
5'11"is a giant in my house. :rotfl:
I got two packs of bird strike stickers from amazon. One is the Audubon recommended brand and one was a cheaper brand.

WindowAlert Leaf Medley Anti-Collision Decal - UV-Reflective Window Decal to Protect Wild Birds from Glass Collisions - Made in The USA
90 PCS Leaf Window Clings - Double Sided White Leaves Stickers - 90 Designs - Reusable Window Decals - Static Clings - Bird Alert - Prevent Bird Strikes

I thought that I would use the good stickers as the main ones and then use the cheaper ones to fill in the gaps since I wasn't 100% confident they would work as well.

Monday already?
We did go out and bike this morning, I was so hot by the time we got back.
I don't think there is any time of the day that is "cool" at this point. Next week is supposed to be not as hot, so *fingers crossed.*

@bcgal00 Happy birthday to Jen!
Enjoy the week and dont; forget to take time to breathe :D

xoxo

@faerywings LOL I love the reference to teenager mentality of summer...Yup those were the days!
So you substituted this and that...really you made your own recipe!.
So cool to see the hummer close up and the patio looks great. I wish I told you before cause it's too late now. But when we had our new driveway put in Florida I drew an anchor and hubby cut it out of plywood so they could stamp a few anchors in the cement...I love it, our across the street neighbor put palm fronds in their patio. Our son is going to have some cement work done to his house here in Ct and I suggested car parts or tire marks...we will see what he does.
Reeds party will be like all their parties...all out!!! Come up and slide, adults will be on it.
We will be heading home we need to be back for Labor day as I am going arrange a party at the pool at the club. I also need to stop to see my twin brother in TN. I am working on reservations now.
All that talk about stickers and a bird just flew into to camper window. we are next to Mikes garden so there are lots of birds flying around.
I think Mike makes his pickles both ways just depends on time and quantity of cukes.

@Vicky I hope you are going to share your bike pages here after all the work.

@Terri M That new computer sounds fab. I have solid state in my new one--new last year--and it is great for traveling, less worry. It's a Dell also...I have had many Dell's with great results. So have fun.

So yesterday we ran a few errands then a quick lunch. We got back here and painted some doors one on the big barn and one on the chicken house. Clean prep and two coats of course. Today I will paint the last door in the chicken house, it has glass windows and a glass side panel those are always so much fun to paint...I will be scraping I'm sure. When he got home from work we grilled some of his steaks...great home grown beef. I made a cucumber salad from the garden. Then we got the electric fence around the garden set up, we had to tie up sunflowers so they wouldn't touch it and pull weeds around the whole garden. Raccoons have been there and last year he lost his whole corn crop to the bears cause the fence was broken. It was dark when we finished.

Go to get started before it gets too hot.

I'm going to have to break down and get one of those camera feeders, I guess! You keep enabling me with your photos! ;) :lol23:
The patio looks GREAT!

As it turns out, the puke from Asher had dried, so no telling when he actually did it. He kept it covered with his towel, LOL! Which is weird because usually he wants nothing to do with a puked-in area! That's when we know he has puked because he stays away from that particular bed! Surprised us!
Thanks for the links to the bird strike stickers!
Yes, 5'11" would be gigantic to you! ;)

I will share the bike pages here. Since they are redo's I just threw them together without taking inventory of what kits I was using just to get them done! We basically ride to the same places. We just want to be on the bike, LOL! I will try to share ones that aren't duplicates. I did finish the pages through last year. They go through October. I will start on this year's at some point. It's been so stinking hot that we haven't been on the bike in a couple of months!

You guys are definitely on a working vacation!

Good morning,
Not too much going on here. I will be heading to Ilene's after while.
Yesterday, I finished the bike pages redo's. YEAH! I'm going to go ahead and upload them to Persnickety so they are there and ready to order when they have their sale in a couple of months. That way if I have another EHD crash, I won't loose them again!
Since I get to sneak peek the AJ challenges, I did week 1 for August yesterday. It's going to be a good theme!
OK, here's some of the bike page redo's.....

082023-2.jpg083024.jpg

OK. There's a few for you to gander. Some of the different places we ride the bike to. Mostly anywhere we can grab a bite to eat! ;)

Have a great day!

Good Morning

One of these days, I will get out of the teenager mentality of summer being time off from everything. Some day...
Wait, what? Summer isn't a break from everything??? Wait, were not teenagers anymore?
Since I get to sneak peek the AJ challenges, I did week 1 for August yesterday. It's going to be a good theme!
Wow Vicky, way to tease a person!!! :floorlaugh: I already have to wait three more days and here you are teasing me with little tidbits like this :giggle4:

Not much happening here. Feels like same ol' same ol'. Not ready for summer to be over and yet its almost time for school to start for us. Lesson plans are mostly done. Office is cleared out of old books and everything is ready. Junior year starts Monday. Crazy. Not sure how my baby can be this old. Off to grab more coffee. Have a wonderful day!
