Hello, hello, hello!

How are all of the Ooos today?

I am doing pretty good! The visit with my parents was quite nice, believe it or not Aside from getting frustrated with my mom over her cell phone/ignorance/refusal even to try to learn how to use it after so many years, it was pretty much a perfect visit. I'll take it. *grins*
We were teasing my dad that now that the front steps are at a normal height, he has no excuse if he trips again. I have to get some pics of the patio at some point. It's really nothing exciting, just new concrete on top of the cracked and crumbling old stuff. Gary got a few bags of stone to put on the ground where the rhododendron and mint are planted. The gutters drain right into that area, so this will help with any soil erosion.
My plans this morning are to wash all of the siding before we put anything back on the patio. I want to see where the best place is to hang the bird feeders. The last thing is to wash the front window and put the bird strike stickers on it. Gary will give me a hand with that when he gets home from his doctor's appointment. Love being married to a tall man. Hahaha.

I'd better get going, I want to be outside before it gets terribly hot to work on concrete. I also *must* restart my yoga sessions. I can feel that I am getting less flexible every day. (Not that I was all that flexible to start with!)

I have a top loader washer and always have..Does the job not too many features, less stuff to go wrong. When we are traveling I use all different kinds. I'm not crazy about front loaders I think they are harder to take clothes out of with my old back. My daughters new house has 2 frontloaders -one for the kids and one them. One can stay open and the other not at all so this will be interesting. She bought some special cleaner to use to clean them.

Random washing machine commentary:

I have a Whirlpool front-load washer. We had a Whirlpool Duet before this one, which lasted 15 years. Mine has a Clean Washer sensor that lights up about every month and I use white vinegar for that. When it is done cleaning, I wipe it out with a towel and it seems pretty good to go.
I hear you 100% about bending over to get stuff out-- I have a small footstool in the laundry area that I sit on to move stuff and also when I fold laundry from the dryer.
My parents just bought a Whirlpool toploader, very basic, and laughed when the salesperson wanted to sell them a 10-year warranty.
If you are in the market for a new appliance, get one ASAP-- according to the salesperson, the new stock is coming in at a 40% increased price b/c of the tariffs.

The pole we are looking at is a shepherd's hook style that extends to 8' so I will have a place for two feeders. There is not a lot of room on my property, especially if I want to watch from my front window but we will figure it out.

How long will you be at your DS's?
I imagine that DD was thrilled to have to help her move, at least to put boxes in the different rooms. I think I would have been completely overwhelmed with all of the decisions if that were me.

Morning, all. Some how I didn't make it back in here to post yesterday. . . . . . I was busy scrapping Color Play LOs. Then called my sister to make sure she was okay. Amarillo, TX got flooded - both I-40 and I-27 were closed in spots due to floods.

How many CP pages this month?
That's a relief that your sister is OK, the weather is out of control this summer.
Our washer, thankfully, can handle big loads- I can do a set of queen-size sheets and a blanket and still have room for clothes. It also has a Drain and Spin cycle to get the extra water out, which I use every time.

YEAH!!! Love good sleep. I love the window open and fan on too. Its just bliss for some reason. I have about a month left to enjoy it and then it will get too cool at night to be comfortable.

Hahaha!! The weather is literally never perfect for long enough. I got out of the shower the other day and wasn't shivering. Give me another month and I will be.

I started my kids on their laundry at 7 years old.

That isn't mean at all. I wanted to do that-- maybe not *that* early -- but our septic is old and very finicky. When we were all on abx at the same time, we pretty much destroyed it-- you pee out some of the abx and with all of them, we threw off the bacterial breakdown of the system. Anyway, long story still long-- I preferred doing one or two larger loads of everyone's stuff than everyone doing smaller, more frequent loads in hopes that the septic didn't fight back.

I started the process of organizing and lesson plans. Its an easy but tedious job. Each subject comes with lesson plans but I choose to make life easier for all of us by putting those lessons in one place. So I have to transfer all the data to one lesson plan book. Makes life easier when sons looking at what to do for the day

Just coming up with lessons for my small HS groups is hard enough. Can't imagine a full year! This is the last year for you, IIRC?

We had a nice dinner with friends last night. He took us to his woodworking shop. WOW! I'm sure Mark was envious! I would love it if Mark had all of that equipment to work with all the wood he cuts down! Maybe one of these days! I took our Rummikub and Qwirkle games to play, but we had a great time just chit-chatting!

What a lovely day!! Did you decide what to have for your anniversary dinner?

I have looked at those pole feeders from Wild Birds Unlimited but have never bought or used one. I have my feeders hanging on the deck. I would love to move them, but I also love watching them out my kitchen window! What to do, what to do???

I vote for having them where you can see them the best!

Hi Everyone - it's been a minute since I've popped in here! Summer is rolling along nicely! It's hot hot hot here. It's been 100 many days in a row, with the heat index reading even higher. I had to move some of my porch plants indoors, because they were not happy even though being watered daily.

Hiiiiii!!!!! I sure hope the weather cools off soon.

We use the pole system and have been very happy with them. Once one of them got top heavy, and in a wind storm it blew over and the pole broke. We replaced it and took off some of the amenities on top, and haven't had a problem.

The pole we are looking at is rated up to 35 mph winds so we would have to take it down if a hurricane comes through. It can also collapse down which we could do in the winter when there is less risk of bears getting at it. I'll keep the top-heaviness in mind if we get it. Thx!

I've decided also that I have a drinking problem.

LOL Washing machine discussion:
I agree larger loads less trips to the machines. I used to have my kids do their laundry when they were a little older...it's a life skill...they did some cooking so I knew they wouldn't be hungry in their clean clothes. Thanks for the vinegar tip I will pass that to DD.

@faerywings Those shepherd hooks sound like the perfect thing for you.
Going to stay here at son's till 11 they we will head back home. On 9th they are having a 10th birthday party for Reed so we will have to move the trailer a little as they need the whole flat spot for a bounce house and splash/slide. Great idea to put rocks where your gutters drain that will help keep it neat and clean.

@BrightEyes wow you have been hit by some bad weather it seems. I hope you get a break . I never had electrical issues even when we had our house built in 1905 but the trailer is a whole different story---if A/C is on we have to be very careful not to trip a breaker but we know now so it's easy to deal with

Yesterday it was rainy but we did manage to get into the garden to pick the cucumbers for Mike. We will start pickles tonight he made the brine last night. He put wire and gravel around the chicken house as animals were getting under it. He mowed this field we stay in and then I made dinner for the 3 of us. I went to buy him some paint for the chicken house doors (he just had the rest of it painted) can you believe 1 gallon of Sherman Williams paint/primer was 84$ on sale 25$ off but still so expensive. I haven't bought paint in awhile. Jay and I will paint the doors tomorrow.
I wiped the trailer off this morning, when it rains I go out after with microfiber cloths and it gets the road grime off. I used to do that with the boat too as there was always dew in the mornings on it...easy peasy and looks ok.

@mimes1 Wow that was some wind to blow over your feeders. I love the sound of the dreamsicle!!! low calories I bet. Too bad you have to go to Plan B- scrapping instead of going to see Erin.

Good morning,
Today is a do-little day. I am only doing one load of laundry because Asher puked on his bed. So, I am including his towel he cuddles up in....one that is too thick (for me) to use and a dark grey, so good for the dog! I also put in the bathroom rug and his other doggy bed that is in the living room.

I took the church deposit earlier and stopped at the PO for Mark's mail. Nothing there but the water bill which he prepays more than necessary, so there is always a credit. If something happens to him, I have no idea how to take care of his bills! Which might not matter anyway because I would have to sell the property as I certainly don't make enough SS to take care of the bills! Plus, I would not want to live here by myself!

Probably no lunch dates for Mark and I this week as his boss is on vacation and so is one of the other employees. So he is in charge.

Will work on some more bike pages today. Would love to get caught up on those! I did the final AJ challenge yesterday. Now I need to work on next month's as my week is going to his while I am away on vacation with my daughter down in FL.

I started making my kids do their own laundry when they were leaving their clothes all over the floor in their bedroom! Not my job to gather everything off the floor! Therefore, you do your own laundry!

This made me chuckle! My kids all seemed to get jobs where they did some fast food cooking, so they all knew the basics....enough that I knew they wouldn't starve!

Monday already?
We did go out and bike this morning, I was so hot by the time we got back. We stopped by our friend's house to bring in the garbage can and water the flowers since they are away this week. We had a huge thunderstorm last night which put down quite a lot of rain so we didn't bother checking the garden. I don't have much on the calendar this week, so I can start working on my presentation to the county about our trails that I'm scheduled to do in a couple weeks.

There's a place in Duck, on the Outer Banks, that does this and we love to get it when we're there. I have done it myself at home, but not for quite a while. Thanks for reminding me; I'm going to have that one day soon.

what kind of computer did you wind up getting?

I got a Dell 16 Plus laptop. I've been looking for one for a while that has a 2 TB drive and wasn't an expensive gaming configuration, and this one is working nicely. The solid state drive instead of spinning disk hard disk makes it much faster when reading/writing. It's my third Dell, I got an HP last time and never did like it much, so I'm happy to be back on this one.

A local coffee house has a coffee drink they call a "Dreamsicle". It's vanilla and orange soda, vanilla cold foam, and a shot if espresso. I've never had espresso in soda before.

There was an article in one of the papers last week about a drink -- lemonade with espresso. When I read it I though it sounded like the worst thing I could imagine tasting. But the author was so convincing I went ahead and bought a small lemonade when I went to the supermarket. And I have an espresson machine (uses pods) since I saw one in a hotel in Barcelona and became a convert to easy, quick, espresso at home. So I tried it, and that is one delicious drink! 3 parts lemonade to 1 part espresso. Article says you could sub strong coffee. I would never have believed it until I tried.

Good afternoon ladies. Spent a good portion of the morning on hold on the phone for government stuff, updating info...ugh. It's all done though so that was productive. I'm home this afternoon for chores and dog walking. It's Jen's b-day and tonight we'll head out for dinner and bingo, also meeting up with friends. Tomorrow is euchre game followed by after dinner coffee meetup at a local cafe. Then out or dinner again on Wed night for D's b-day. Thurs morning I head out for a 2 day birding trip with a friend.

Whew...busy week and the time is going to fly by! You might not hear much from me until next week.
