Is anyone reading The Hunger Games Prequels?

I didn;t even know they exisited until they showed on on a Recommended page on Hoopla. I am reading the first one, about halfway through.
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes It was released during Covid, so I guess that is partly why I missed it.

I loved the Trilogy and could not stop reading the first book. I think I blew through 2/3 of it in a day. This one is good but not as gripping. The Games aren't at the same level of novelty-horror to me. But it's fascinating seeing how The Capital has refined (sorry, that is a terrible word describing what they do) the Games over the years to what we see in the Katniss Era.
There is a second book, Sunrise on the Reaping, that came out in March.

I noticed that there is a movie for Book 1 and a cast set for Book 2. I'll probably watch them if/when anyone else in my family wants to.

PS: Books are better than movies.

I haven't read them. I should though, cuz the Hunger Games trilogy, in my opinion, is the best literature ever written. It has EVERYTHING.

When the first book of the new trilogy came out, I felt I didn't want to read it, since it was about President Snow. Hate him! Also, it felt like it would be yet another story where a hero turns into a villain (Lex Anakin/Vader). I'm a sucker for happy endings, and do not like that trope. (Note: I really have no idea what the book is actually about, that's just me guessing.)

But now I heard that the 2nd book is about Haymitch! And who doesn't LOVE Haymitch???! Guess I will buy me the books. I have the Hunger Games trilogy, I should get the new ones too, even though I really don't buy books anymore.

May the odds be ever in your favor!

This is true in every case but the Twilight Saga! There the movies are a blessing, since you don't have to listen to Bella's stupid brain all the time.

It might also be true for the 50 shades books. However, those books are so bad, I will not bother with the movies. That story is probably beyond saving...

I listened to The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. It was interesting to get that perspective! I have the other book on hold with the library.
Did your brain flip back and forth between what you knew about the Games to how different they were in "Songbirds?"
I'm also trying to figure out what happens/happened to Lucy Grey but I guess that I'll find out at the end of the book. I am 3/4 through now.

I was hoping that Haymitch was going to show up in this one but then I realized he couldn't yet. Or if he does, he won't be Haymitch the Mentor. I am excited to get Book 2 now!

If that isn't the full truth of it....
