Welcome to the AJ April Challenge, Week 2. Our word prompt for April is RESOLVE. As usual, I want to start out with the definition of this word.

resolve /rĭ-zŏlv′/

intransitive verb

  1. To make a firm decision about: synonym: decide.
"resolved that I would do better next time."
    Similar: decide
  2. To decide or express by formal vote.
"The legislature resolved that the official should be impeached."
  3. To cause (a person) to reach a decision.
Here are some quotes that I found that really spoke to me:

'Resolve to be a master of change rather than a victim of change". Brian Tracy

"Every obstacle yields to stern resolve."
Leonardo da Vinci

"Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other."
Abraham Lincoln

"Resolve to do the things you find to be difficult. That's what confident people do. They tackle those things that are scary and they get addicted to doing it."
Chalene Johnson

Here are some more quotes with pictures that I'm so fond of.

Here's the Travelers Notebook page I created that I hope will inspire you in some way. I was inspired by one of the quotes I found that's listed above:

"Resolve to do the things you find to be difficult. That's what confident people do. They tackle those things that are scary and they get addicted to doing it."
Chalene Johnson

I stepped WAY out of my comfort zone last December 28th, when I got on a plane and flew to Vegas with my daughter and son-in-law. I had a wonderful visit and got to spend a few days with my dear friend, Susie @pachimac.

Journaling reads: "When the opportunity to go to Vegas came up, I did something very unlike me. I said yes, then started overthinking it. I hate to fly, period. I never wanted to get back on a plane. But when I realized that I had the opportunity to meet my Dear friend Susie, I reached deep into myself and decided to go. If I hadn't, I would have missed a wonderful time with Susie and her family and the celebration of New Year's with them.'

Challenge Guidelines & Template Info:

You can choose to do a single page, double page, tag, or TN each week, or use a divided template—one part for each week. If you don’t have the Divided Template and would like to use it, you can get it here at Dropbox. Thank you to Ona @wombat146 for providing the template choices for us!

If you use the template, we encourage you to post it incrementally:

Post one section in the first week.
  • Post an image of the two together on the second week.
  • Post three sections on the third week.
  • Share the finished page on the fourth week.
Note: The template is NEVER required—just a fun option if you want to try something different!
  • You have until 11:59 p.m. CST on April 30 to complete your pages for this challenge.
  • To qualify for the drawing, you need to use 80% Oscraps products currently in the store (non-Oscraps products or retired O designer products can be used whether the designer is selling elsewhere or not).
  • You need to credit all products used on your page.
  • You cannot use a page created for this challenge in another Oscraps challenge.
  • Upload your page to the Art Journal Gallery and then add your layout to the challenge thread. (Instructions below.)
  1. Upload your layout to the gallery first.
  2. In your forum post, click the Gallery Embed icon (little camera).
  3. This will open your gallery—click on the layout you want to embed.
  4. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click Continue.
  5. Your linked layout is now in your post! The image will appear once you click Post Reply.
Everyone who participates in any of this month’s challenges will be entered into a drawing for a $5 gift certificate to Oscraps. You can receive up to four entries into this month’s drawing.

We look forward to seeing your inspiring pages on Resolve! Happy journaling!

Here is mine! I decided to combine last month's week 4 of changing up a layout and using my first week and rotating the photo cluster 90 degrees each week. Here is my second week!

The two together:

OOOOhhhhhh the moodboard and those quotes!!! Bang! One layout right???? Might need to do several on those quotes alone. I love your layout and Susie's. Such inspiration. Will have to spend tomorrow on this. I want to do it now, but its "couples time" where all the kids are in bed and we have control of the TV. :giggle4: My minds spinning on how to use the first quote. :heartpumppink:

This is going to be so beautiful at the end, Susie. I adore both of your week's pages so far. LOVE the direction your pages are taking and I can't wait to see the final project. I was going to use the template but maybe next month. Fabulous pages so far!

Love love LOVE these quotes!!!
And weeks 1 and 2:

Thanks so much, Tracy!! I'm so glad you're inspired. Now, that "couple time" is over, I can't wait to see what you create. I can just "hear" your brain buzzing while you're supposed to be watching TV. :couchtv: :bouncing::lol23:

You have NO idea. We were surfing for a new show and tried a couple dud comedy shows. I was NOT into it and thought I could be scrapping but I waited. Now to hook up EHD and get to playing. But dang that first quote Keeps drawing me back time and again but all I also see are the old AJ pages of turning a bad into a good and dont want to repeat. So here goes.

Chris and Susie, you make it look so easy to put two layouts together. its not easy. Not sure I like how mine looks but here's giving it a try.

They DO make it look easy, don't they? Your page is amazing, Tracy! It's just hard to get the "concept" of the divided template. You did such an amazing job and I can't wait to see the finished product.

What a gorgeous page you're going to have, Susie. Love what you've created so far.

Here's one from me - it's been a while since I did AJ, but it felt good, and went a totally different direction than expected.
Thank you all for the encouragement. It's been all your work and support of each other that got me to do this.

Wonderful AJ page, Bubby. Love the double framing and how you used the word prompt and similar words.
