Do you collect AI images?

I have found I am drawn to some AI photos as they can evoke a mood or theme or time period. I started collecting ones that caught my eye or spoke to my spirit. Lately when I found an image I wanted and went to download page, the artist name is there with a link to his/hers images. Image my surprise to realize when I looked at their collection... that I had already been saving many of their creations! Gone is the time clicking through images on the main AI pages to find similar images (if I want more than 1 similar ones on the same page).... now I go the artist section and usually find what I want or need.

I do a lot of digital scrapping and I find having a collection of images saved on my computer saves me time by scrolling through them to see if I already have one that will work. Or... sometimes in looking at AI images, I find an image that jumps out and says this is how to use it.

Have you ever done this??
 
I have downloaded a couple. There really are some beautiful ones. Have used a few as photos on a couple of layouter.
 
Yes, the ones I really like and speak to me I save. I use them more than onces in my pages.
I also love to create my own with Microsoft Designer Image Creator
 
I have created some AI pictures using various free software programs. I have a Mac and would love to know of a free program I can use more than a few times. I really don't want to pay for a subscription. It helps when I don't have a photo that fits the kit theme.
 
I'm guess I'm in the minority but I really dislike using AI images. There are indeed some really beautiful ones, but if I want an image for a scrapbook layout that I don't already have I'm more likely to download an actual photo.

I know that's ironic since a lot of designers use AI to create their products. :hiding2:

Evelyn, have you tried mage? I used it for a while, free, and I think it's still free. I haven't used it in sometime now. Midjourney is my fave AI program. The free account at mage is limited to the various styles you can apply, but I've gotten some good images from there. Here's the link: https://www.mage.space/

Here are a few I created with mage. I'm a nut for watercolor, so these are all watercolor paintings, but you can create more realistic images too, plus you can create from your original photos:

I love using AI, especially with my own photos. And I do keep a lot of them. Due to physical problems, I can no longer go out with my camera, although I still take still life photos at home. So AI has been a God-send for me. I often use my own photos in the AI program, often combining several. I've also used free Pixabay images with AI. I used Deep Dream Generator for a long time, and still use it occasionally, but my fave AI program is Midjourney.

AZK... to each her own likes and dislikes. I love that everyone can chose what she wants to use on her own scrapbook pages.
BTW, I also download and use actually photos too. Depends of what style/mood/type of page I am creating.

Betty Jo, I also have physical problems that keep me from going out with my camera. Also most of the family has moved away so have to rely on them to share family photos (and get permission to use them in my layouts). I tried Deep Dream Generator but wasn't satisficed with what I created. I will have to check out Midjourney. It sounds very interesting.

Kay, here is a site I discovered last year that helps me with finding artists whose styles I like to use with AI. Maybe it will be of help to you, and others here, as well. I use the various artists with, not only Midjourney, but DDG and mage too. https://midlibrary.io/styles

I can understand that. If I am able, I prefer to use photos of loved ones. When I don't have a photo that goes with a specific kit them, I will, at times, use AI to create a photo.
 
So far I haven’t downloaded any AI images. I’m not against them exactly, but many of those I have seen seem so unrealistic that I just can’t wrap my head around them. I do love the water color images Betty Jo posted so I may explore that side of AI. I have so many personal photos I doubt I will ever really need AI images

I've recently become fascinated with watercolor art and just bought myself some some paper and paint to try my hand at it. This appeals to me much more than other styles of AI. Maybe this would be the place to dip my toes into the AI pond!

Janedee, it is fabulous that you have a large collection of photos to use for your scrapping.
During one of our moves, we lost over 2 years of our family and travel photos. I remember many of them (our trip to Italy) and wish I still had them to use for scrapping.

So glad that you are experimenting with watercolor art. It is so much fun.
I have taken classes in various art mediums - worked with watercolors... along with oils, acrylics, charcoal, color pencils and other mediums. The art background may be one reason I am drawn to some of AI images.
 
To date I have only used the AI images that designers have created, but have used stock photos for ages.

I have scrapped a lot of my grandkids over the years but it came to a point where I wanted to scrap more 'adult' themed layouts about loss, grief, more art journal-ly themes and couldn't use my photos of my grandkids as their sweet little faces just wouldn't suit the theme! lol! Which is when I started using stock photos. :) Using AI to me is like using a stock photo, some images speak to me, others don't. I have yet to look at he Pixabay AI images so I do want to check them out. And I am thinking, if the image is really too perfect............ then that is the perfect one to use for blending or using it on a mixed media layout with paint splashes or brushwork covering parts of it. :)

But you know, I remember having this sort of conversation way back, when a lot of people didn't like the idea of using stock photos in scrapbooking as it wasn't 'real scrapbooking' :giggle4:. Since then I think the term "scrapbooking" has grown to cover a variety of scrapbooking, from memory keeping throught to art journaling and digital art. Come to think of it, I remember even further back when digital scrapbooking was never considered to be 'real' by the paper based scrapbookers of the time! :lol23:

It goes to show that while there will always be differing points of view about various things, it is that difference that makes us all the uniquely talented people that we are, happily co-existing together within this wonderful world of creative scrapbooking. :grouphugyay: :lovey3:

I too remember those conversations, Ona. I was designing in the early 2000's and I got a lot of flack about the digi scrap not being 'real.' :)
 
I also make my own AI images and I have a lot of fun with it! To create a good image and make it exactly how you want it you need a good prompt (text). It is an art to create and fine tune that prompt. The outcome of what you get is a surprise everytime. But I almost always enhance and am creative with them in Photoshop afterwards!
