The background is paper S12 with the 1886 print Battle of Shiloh by Kurtz and Allen blended over it using a gradient mask. The prints on the left are all from the collection and are actual battles in which William fought in chronological order. Image top right is A.T. Hawthorne, and the bottom is Gordon Neill Peay. After the background, I created the scalloped borders and clipped paper S06 to them. I applied a sepia filter to the top left element. The rest was just a matter of layering then adding the text. The muster card in the right border is a digital copy of William’s card showing his death.

The unit history reads:
Unit History 6th Regiment Arkansas Infantry

Company A - "Capital Guards" of Little Rock, in Pulaski County, Capt. Gordon N. Peay.

Company B - "Yellow Jackets", Calhoun County, Capt. P.H. Echols. In state service 5 1861 to 26 July 1861. Discharged when the regiment was mustered into Confederate service.

Company C - "Dallas Rifles", Dallas County, Capt. F.J. Cameron.

Company D - "Ouachita Voyageurs", or "Ouachita Voltiquers", Ouachita County, Capt. J.W. Kingswell.

Company E - "Dixie Grays", Arkansas County, Capt. Sam G. Smith.

Company F - "Lafayette Guards", Lafayette County, Capt. Sam H. Dill.

Company G - "Columbia Guards" of Magnolia, in Columbia County, Captain J.W. Austin.

Company H - "City Guards" of Camden, in Ouachita County, Capt. S. H. Southerland. First company commander was Richard Lyon.

Company I - "Lisbon Invincibles", Union County, Capt. Sam Turner.

Company K - "Ouachita Grays", Ouachita County, Capt. Hope T. Hodnett.

No Company J and Company B ceased to exist upon transfer to CSA.
