I was curious to find out more about the "unsinkable Molly Brown". Most of what the movies say about her is incorrect however she was a force to be reckoned with. This is what I found:

Margaret ‘Molly” Brown
1867- 1912

- known as Maggie never Molly
- born in poverty of Irish immigrants
- married JJ Brown who struck it rich investing in a gold mine
- boarded the Titanic as a last minute need to get to New York
- demanded others take the lifeboat first and made the crewmen go back to fill the boat
- insisted the women on the boat took up the oars to keep them warm
- suffragette and feminist, ran for Congress, worked for worker’s rights, human rights, and education
- WWl France, she established a relief station for soldiers

“The American socialite, philanthropist, and activist used her unexpected fame to help others live a better life.”
