I started my composition by compositing together an art doll from various copyright-free images on the internet, blending components together with the Artsy Brushes, and using scale techniques often employed by my friend Nancy Gene Armstrong in her collage work. I made a background from Opacus Solid Paper 1 over Inclement Artsy Paper 5 on multiply blending mode and then dragged in the birdhouse, butterfly, and key. The journal and title came next.

With these fundamentals in place, I enriched the composition using a variety of brushes, each on its own layer, some in black, some in colors sampled from the layout. I added the big blue dots to complement the little blue minidots on the birdhouse and background.
