Starting Fresh

I adore the era of the 1950 - I love the clothing that these young women have on, and the cars of that time as well. This photo is blurry, but none the less, much loved by me. This is for this week's AnnaLift by SharLamb https://ozone.oscraps.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29314 - thanks for the inspiration.

Journaling reads: A photograph of my mom and my sister, taken around 1953. My mom, about 23 years old, recently engaged to be married to my dad, and ready to embark on a new life in West Haven, CT. She would soon leave her friends in Norfolk, VA, where she works as a switchboard operator. She is enjoying hanging out and talking to her friends with Sharon in her arms. How exciting it must have been the anticipation of starting out again in another state. Soon she would be a stay at home mom, and maybe have another child. Such wonderful possibilities!

The Process: I used a basic solid kardstock from AP Generations, and added the photo frame (without mask), and added the photo. I applied blend mode Darker Color. I duplicated the photo, placing it on blend mode Overlay and masked out all but the lower portion. I changed the tint of the upper photo layer to the slight aqua color. I added transfers and brushwork, playing around with the colors until satisfied. I added the lace, blending in the patterned paper to the right side of the lace, masking around the edges of the lace. I added the FotoGlow and WordART, placing it on blend mode Divide. I added the LoopDaLoop, placing a butterfly brush at the end. I added the floss fasteners, tag and the word strip and stitches, etc., and finished up the edge overlays, changing their color and blend mode to Multiply. I then went back and added two other papers for added texture, masking all of it out, and then blending back in just the portions I wanted. These additional textures and patterns (the wood), was placed on various blend modes to allow transparency amongst the layers. I LOVE playing around with the textures and the many little brushes and transfers that Anna creates it makes creating a page so fun, but it also makes it hard to stop and call it finished.

Such richness. I especially like the blue tone you added to the photo. Nice use of word art, butterfly, loop, lace, etc.
