Years ago I took in sewing as a part time job, specializing in wedding and formal
gowns. This gown has a particular memory attached to it. The bride wanted a
large amount of beading even though the fabric was beaded lace. The additional front lace
applique covered the bodice from décolletage to below the waist and was to have pearls and sequins added.
At that time,Dad was ill and needed open heart surgery for a quintuple bypass. While waiting in the hospital for dad’s surgery to be over, I hand-beaded the applique. It took the entire five hour wait to complete only half of it.
