The Headquarters Alaska Command building is known as the ALCOM (Alaska Command) building. It was designed in a streamlined Art Deco Style. Designed by Dick and Ernie Boyd, with the Army Command Alaska Department the forerunner to the Alaska District Office, Corps of Engineers it was completed in 1948. The building has had several nicknames over the years.
The “Green Latrine” because the interior hallways were covered with green tile. The “Kremlin” because of its centralized command function. In 1977 is was renamed the Davis Building in honor of Colonel Everett S Davis, “the father,” of the Alaska Air Command. Since our time in Alaska, the interior of the building has been completely gutted and renovated.
