Since the layout we are copying had a strong horizontal design, I chose a horizon photo of the NJ shoreline right before a Tropical Storm hit.
I couldn't find a mask that strectched across thepage the way I wanted it to so I created my own by layering several masks across a new 12x12 document resizing some and changing the opacity of others When I was done, I merged those layers. Then I used soft grunge brushes to fill it in in a few more spots after I clipped the photo to it. I lowered the Saturation on the gulls with Image>Adjustments>Variations and set the blending mode for the word art to Difference
