The title refers to The Milepost, the classic guidebook to Alaska's roadways, which we lived by on our road trip there in 2015. We wanted to create a similar feel on this year's Adirondack trip, going beneath the typical things we do, so I did a lot of research and came up with my own version of a Mountain Milepost. It was a fabulous adventure. Because it's really hard for me to capture what I see and feel when immersed in nature, I ultimately threw up my hands in this design and just wrote the story and used some of my many trailhead images for visuals. These and the journaling will be enough to get my memory cranking.

This is a template layout using the template pretty much as it was delivered—I simply removed some of the artistry layers (foliage, lace, and script) and did a little frame adjustment. I did the journaling first, then the photos, and then the background--Artsy Paper #3 on multiply blend mode over Artsy Paper #2, with bits of both layer-masked away. Embellishment came last. I've been using Project Template Album #9 a lot these days--it's extremely versatile and very useful in plugging up the bare spots in my various albums.
