We went to the Muse du Louvre twice, because the first time we came on the wrong day and they weren't open. The second time, we came at around 8:30 AM, which turned out to be just a little too early: the Louvre opens at 9 AM. Not that we knew that at the time, so I felt lucky when the doors opened after only half an hour of waiting.
The Louvre has a very large collection of objects, so large we didn't even see all of them. What sticks out in my mind the most, however, was something that happened around noon. While I was taking a break at the cafe, the alarm sounded and an announcement played over the intercom. Unfortunately I don't speak French so I had no idea what was being said, but then people started leaving in batches. I asked the people there what was going on, but nobody knew. Eventually we were asked to leave too, and once we did I asked the security guards if something was wrong. He just shook his hand and said it was nothing, that we could go in again... Huh?!
