Life without You

Journaling reads: Upon learning of your diagnosis of having very little time left, we decided to try to make your last days your best. I took off from work, and spent all my time with you, carefully watching you. Rachel was able to work less as well. We tried to put on a brave face, crying so you didnt see, and we took you on long walks to the park, and to the trails of Twin Peaks. We loved seeing the excitement in your face when we said the words PARK, AND WALK, and we spent hours exploring the trails, always watching for signs of your being tired, but you seemed so happy to be exploring the rocks and brush of the trails, always looking for squirrels, bunnies and lizards. You still had bounce in your step, and were always wagging your tail. I think that other than the week we found you, your last week was the most special. We did things that you were not allowed to do before because of your health, or safety - you got to eat more treats, including your beloved PIZZA CRUST that we always knew it was your favorite. You got to ride in the front seat, with your head out of the window, and to browse the aisles of the pet store to find the best smelling treats. We walked with you at 7 am, and again at 3 pm and then a midnight walk if you wanted, and we sat outside with you and listened to the night sounds, because we knew you preferred being outside. Our hearts were broken, but we tried to take comfort in the joy of your last week. When the time had come for you to leave this world, we were there beside you to hold you tight.

Now we are left with an empty house when we come home, but I constantly hear your sounds, and forget for a second that you are gone. It is hard, but we try to push past the sorrow, and dwell on the wonderful memories of the years we were lucky to have with you, and the constant joy you gave to all three of us. Life with you was such a joy, and our life without you will be oh so very hard.

The Process: I began with a neutral cardstock and began adding brushes and transfers from Annas new ArtPlay Palette Embrace Me. I added the frame, and attached the photo to the fotomask. I duplicated the photo, and then placing on top of the frame layer, masked all out except the portion of the stone fence. I added the patterned paper, placing it on blend mode Luminocity, to make it black and white. I added additional brushes and elements, changing a few to red. I finished up by adding the ScriptTease overlay, the journaling and the title.

Oh, Joanie, I'm so sorry about Cricket. You'll always have those wonderful memories of the special times you spent together during those last days. Your journaling shows the love you all felt for Cricket. Such a sweet tribute.

Our little dog, Dixie Chick, is like a child to us. Your devotion to your family is so touching. He'll always be a part of you, and your daughter has been given a wonderful example of true altruistic love. Beautiful tribute.

Cricket had the most wonderful life with your family. You were both blessed to have each other. I'm so sorry for your loss, but I love reading about his last week, what wonderful memories and moments you gave him.

So sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is! You have created a beautiful tribute page!

I've never read such a meaningful tribute to a beloved petperfect title art! I bet you miss her every single dayhugs!

What an amazing tribute... You had me crying... so wonderful you were privileged to know of the impending end and that you could take time off to make special memories... I still miss a Karma a kitty I had briefly before Kashmir (the orange one) came to live with me...He was found dead on a Sunday morning, by a neighbor...had hung himself inadvertently on a wire...

It is so beautiful that you took that week off to give her such a good time. I'm so sorry for your loss.
