Let Freedom Ring/chall 6

Remembering the year 1978 when our whole family traveled to Washington to celebrate the Fourth of July. It will always remain in my mind as the most memorable because we were all together. This year it has more meaning than most-I cannot help but think of the families that seek refuge here and have been separated--children alone without their parents! How very frightening for them. We take much for granted living and growing up in this country of our. Our forefathers opened our shores and borders to those who sought freedom.
"The bosom of America is open to receive not only the opulent and respected stranger, but the oppressed and persecuted of all nations and religions; whom we shall welcome to a participation of all our rights and privileges."
George Washington
