John Hunt

This is for challenge 1, thanks to Kythe, for posting her Remembrance day page that inspired me to create this page that I have been wanting to do for some time. This page contains an actual letter, addressed envelope, post card, and his signature on his sign up sheet.
My journaling reads:
This man meant so much to so many people. He was my Grandfathers older brother and partner in their threshing machine outfit. My Grandfather felt the loss deeply. Than there was his Mother who received reassuring post cards from him saying that he was well. Sadly, another kind of letter reached her telling her that on Nov 9, he had been badly wounded with shrapnel to his chest and spine. I suspect that he was dead by the time the letter reached her as he died on Nov 14, 1917 at the age of 34. I remember in high school when we celebrated Remembrance day with a roll call of the war dead from the local area I felt sadness but also a sense of pride. As a child, I met all of his siblings and I wondered did his voice sound like Great Uncle Joes, was he a hard worker like my Grandfather. Would he have married and had children had he survived. So many dreams lost. John Roydon Hunt is buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery in Belgium.

Such an amazing page, and well-deserved Standing O- your journaling is so heartfelt, and the photos and letter are touching elements to the page

You've put together an amazing page to honor your Grandfather's brother. I love the composition of the page. The journaling is quite touching and I found the red poppy to be especially compelling and meaningful. Congratulations on the Standing O!

Wow! Outstanding heritage page. I am in awe of your design work. Masterfully layered elements. Congratulations on the Standing O!
